  • Enacting affirmative ethics in education: A materialist/posthumanist framing.Dianne Mulcahy - 2022 - Educational Philosophy and Theory 54 (7):1003-1013.
The aim of this article is to explore the worth of a materialist/posthumanist approach to ethics, specifically affirmative ethics, within the field of education. I work empirical material that ‘does’ this ethics in classrooms and draw on Deleuze’s ethically guided materialism as taken up by Braidotti, to gain purchase on it. • Ethics review, neoliberal governmentality and the activation of moral subjects.Fiona James - 2021 - Educational Philosophy and Theory 53 (5):548-558.
This article examines forms of subjectivation propagated through the processes and practices of ethics review in UK Higher Education Institutions. Michel Foucault’s concept of neoliberal governmentality is argued in this article to help illuminate the combination of power processes reflected in ethics review practices. These operate insidiously in accordance with a neoliberal rationality that champions (...)

  • Ethics, Subjectivity, and Sociomaterial Assemblages: Two Important Directions and Methodological Tensions.Jesse Bazzul - 2018 - Studies in Philosophy and Education 37 (5):467-480.
Research that explores ethics can help educational communities engage twenty-first century crises and work toward ecologically and socially just forms of life. Integral to this research is an engagement with social theory, which helps educators imagine our shared worlds differently. In this paper I present two theoretical-methodological directions for educational research that centres ethics: Ethics and subjectivity; and Ethics-in-assemblage. While both approaches might be seen as commensurable, they can also be seen as quite divergent. Using Michel Foucault’s later work on (...)
