    More and more often one comes across the view that the real source of many interpretational difficulties and obscurities is connected with paying too much attention to sentences, and at the same time neglecting the utterances, the convictions and other objects of this kind, as well as not taking into account the situational contexts of the examined utterances.     This paper considers the potentially important role played by non-verbal communication in constraining pragmatic processing. Attention is paid to claims about the role of emotion in memory encoding and recall, its role in the formulation of plans and goals, and the creation of a shared emotional sense through various interpersonal processes.
