This paper provides the examination of the principal changes that took place in the UK in the sphere of immigration policy, as well as analysis of domestic climate in which it occurred and effects it has led to. Starting with the perception that British immigration policy has been highly restrictive throughout the second half of the twentieth century, this analysis recognizes fundamental transformation which came about in the sphere of immigration policy. Drawing on the primarily and secondary sources the research (...) concludes that at the beginning of the twenty-first century Great Britain has moved away from the policy of «zero immigration» to the strategy of «managed migration» which consist in combination of rationally controlled routes for economic migration with fair procedure of granting asylum. The study argues that such factors as stable economic growth coupled with labour force deficit including that of unskilled and semi-skilled workers were the main reasons for relaxation of the immigration rules. At the same time the evidence showed that this shift chiefly related to the particular categories of migrants – mainly foreign workers and students – whereas policy towards asylum seekers and illegal migrants remained tough. Ensuing from the strategy of «managed migration» programs to attract migrant workers, which are briefly reviewed in the article, were initiated. Farther, access to the British labour market for the workers from eight new EU member-states was granted immediately in 2004. The paper argues that all these innovations point to more expansionary immigration policy of T. Blair’s administrations. The analysis of statistical data provided considerable empirical evidence to support this argument. As a result of liberalization levels of immigration turned to be much higher than it was anticipated. Largescale and rapid immigration to Britain, increased pressure on local communities strengthened hostility to immigrants. In such circumstances British government failed convincing public in the benefits that migrants bring. Consequently, after short period of unprecedentedly expansionary immigration policy British government got back to more restrictive one. (shrink)

This article explores the representation of fish in ecological discourse through analysis of the recently published Millennium Ecosystem Assessment synthesis report. The analysis utilizes an ecological framework based on "deep ecology" , examining how the discourse of the MA asserts or denies the intrinsic worth of fish. The discursive construction of fish is particularly relevant given the massive expansion of the aquaculture industry, which is having a negative impact on ecosystems and the fish themselves, particularly the Atlantic salmon. There are (...) alternatives to traditional ecological discourses, such as the lyrical discourse drawn on by Rachel Carson in her description of salmon. The article concludes with a discussion of the potential of such discourses to represent reality in ways that are more comparable with the welfare of the fish and the protection of ecosystems. A Dutch 'folk theorem' holds that 'from exchange it comes to tears'. This seems to contradict the basic idea found in economics that exchange and trade can make both sides better off. We show that the 'folk theorem' has a better theoretical foundation than sometimes thought, as it is vindicated by the equilibrium of an exchange game with two-sided asymmetric information. We, then, explain the practical value of such 'folk wisdom' in the real world by showing why players might be (...) unlikely to learn such an equilibrium strategy. (shrink)

In this paper I draw on Einstein's distinction between “principle” and “constructive” theories to isolate two levels of physical theory that can be found in both classical and (special) relativistic physics. I then argue that when we focus on theoretical explanations in physics, i.e. explanations of physical laws, the two leading views on explanation, Salmon's “bottom-up” view and Kitcher's “top-down” view, accurately describe theoretical explanations for a given level of theory. Актуальність теми дослідження полягає в пошуках авторами вирішення майже 250-річної загадки походження і глобального поширення сім'ї близько 400 живих і мертвих індоєвропейських мов. Вчені ХІХ-ХХ століть не змогли знайти позицію «колиски» і пояснити механізм безпрецедентно успішного поширення спільних слів. Метою статті є використання ультранової наукової інформації з метою критичного аналізу сукупності старих і нових наукових праць в темі «виникнення та розвиток індоєвропейської мовної сім'ї». Цілі дослідження — використання технологій 6-го укладу і факту появи перших екологічно нешкідливих ноотехнологій для вивчення перспектив (...) ноонаук — нооісторії, нооархеології, й багатьох інших для вирішення загадок і «білих плям» проблеми походження всіх індоєвропейських мов та формування індоєвропейського виробничого, культурного, релігійного, наукового та освітнього світу. Методологія дослідження в теоретичній основі має перспективний принцип глобального еволюціонізму з трансдисциплінарними підходами. Науковий еволюціонізм полягає у виході наук і технологій на 7-й уклад, який стане гарантією порятунку людства від усіх сучасних загроз. Ми використовуємо кілька ноонаук, а також нооінтегральний, системний і нооісторичний методи. Результатом дослідження є відкриття того факту, що в минулому вчені-попередники вважали походження та розвиток індоєвропейської мовної сім'ї тільки внутрішньою проблемою для лінгвістики. Ми вирішили, що насправді це типова екстра-проблема, яка вимагає використання знань і останніх відкриттів багатьох точних і гуманітарних наук. Замість «PIEL» ми пропонуємо фразу «хмара тегів» зі світу ІКТ, досягнення точних наук у вимірі віку археологічних знахідок і розшифровку їх генетичної складової. Крім того, в цій статті було доведено, що наші далекі пращури зробили найбільший внесок у прогрес індоєвропейського світу. У пунктах 1-10 наводяться докази, засновані на досягненнях ноісторії до початку 2019 року. Вказується, що поширення спільних слів тривало тисячі років із зони поділу праці, винаходів і активної торгівлі. Це були пенеплени Едем - Анатолія - Трипілля-1 - Велике Трипілля — його розпад з переселенням наших пращурів. Висновок - стаття за своїм змістом значно перевершує відносно вузьку тему витоків індоєвропейської мовної сім'ї. У ній доведено, що сучасні й майбутні соціальні, економічні чи інші екстрапроблеми пощастить вирішити тільки при об’єднанні сукупного наукового інтелекту, врахуванні, передбаченні і створенні нових відкриттів - ноотехнологій та десятків ноонаук. Залишається сподіватися, що людство помітить їх і вчасно врятується. (shrink)

The central problem is the phenomenon of an information and communication society as a complex social phenomenon. The problem of the research is to analyze theoretical and methodological principles of the formation of the concept of an information and communication society, based on advanced information and communication technologies. Methods and approaches - synergistic, anthropological, axiological, which allowed penetrating the essence of the information and communication society, analyze the socio-anthropological, socio-economic and socio-cultural dimensions of the information and communication society. The result of the research - the modern information world, informationalism and the economy are completely dependent on networks and are created by information technologies, which in general forms an information and communication paradigm of society. Information resources are presented digitally or electronically using electronic means. Conclusion. The intensive use of information and computer technologies has been acquired at the present stage of social development of a global nature, which forms new contours of modern civilization. The relevance of the research is manifested in the fact that organizational culture is an important and penetrating everywhere concept with regards to influence on organizational change programmes. Literature analysis shows that there is ambiguity in the assessment of organizational culture. A certain outcome of a cultural variable may have not the same effect on all organizational processes associated with management activity.. According to Melnick, in order to gain a deeper understanding of the processes of management and management culture changes (...) hapenning in the modern world, it is appropriate to evaluate contemporary management practices that reflect the effects of historically composed life modes and stereotypes that manifest themselves in management activities. The research aim: to discuss the factors and stages forming organizational culture development. Analysis of recent research and publications. Organizational culture is analyzed in various contexts. Organizational culture models and their components have been defined by Schein, Ostroff et al., et al., the significance of organizational culture is analyzed ; McLoughlin and Miura ; Di Pietro and Di Virgilio et al. The issues of forming/changing organizational culture remain of topical significance. Researches on this topic were carried out and the summarized results were submitted in their scientific papers by Bititci et al ; Gibbons and Kaplan, Mungiu-Pupăzan ; Hogan et al et al. In the study Hogan et al a key result is how layers of organizational culture, particularly norms, artifacts, and innovative behaviors, partially mediate the effects of values that support innovation on measures of firm performance. The objectives of the research: to define the organizational culture components and importance for the results of organizational performance; to identify the main factors of business culture that influence the results of the performance; to discuss the stages of implementation of the organizational culture development management plan.
