The following article is based on Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenological conception of the world. This theoretical reference is used to think about the educational situation of deaf and hard of hearing people, who suffer in educational institutions due to their deafness. Being within the world and being evaluated within a world in which they are seen as incomplete ends up charging them the bill for learning. Through their bodies they end up deciding what they can and what they cannot learn. This theoretical (...) reflection is an invitation to a paradigm shift in which other forms of knowledge acquisition are promoted beyond those that are standardized. (shrink)
