  • Metaphysics in Gaston Bachelard's “Reverie”.Caroline Joan Picart - 1997 - Human Studies 20 (1):59-73.
    This paper aims to trace the evolution of Bachelard's thought as he gropes toward a concrete formulation of a philosophy of the imagination. Reverie, the creative daydream, occupies the central position in Bachelard's emerging metaphysic, which becomes increasingly “phenomenological” in a manner reminiscent of Husserl.     This paper deals with the problem of the subject in Bachelard?s concept of surrationalism.     In this essay, Perraudin sets out to contrast the competing philosophies of time and imagination of two major French thinkers of the twentieth century: Henri Bergson (1859–1941) and Gaston Bachelard (1884–1962).
