  1. A field guide to Heidegger: Understanding 'the question concerning technology'.David I. Waddington - 2005 - Educational Philosophy and Theory 37 (4):567–583.
This essay serves as a guide for scholars, especially those in education, who want to gain a better understanding of Heidegger's essay, ‘The Question Concerning Technology’. The paper has three sections: an interpretive summary, a critical commentary, and some remarks on Heidegger scholarship in education. Since Heidegger's writing style is rather opaque, the interpretive summary serves as a map with which to navigate the essay. The critical commentary offers a careful analysis of some of the central concepts in the essay. (...)

  • On the Path Towards Thinking: Learning from Martin Heidegger and Rudolf Steiner.Bo Dahlin - 2009 - Studies in Philosophy and Education 28 (6):537-554.
This paper is a philosophical study of the nature of thinking based on the philosophies of Martin Heidegger and Rudolf Steiner. For Heidegger, the pre-Socratic Greek philosophers exemplified genuine thinking, appreciating the meaning of Being. But this kind of philosophy was soon replaced by the onto-theological approach, in which Being was reductively objectified, and the question of the meaning of Being was forgotten. In this paper the (...)

  • A Phenomenological Study of Dream Interpretation Among the Xhosa-Speaking People in Rural South Africa.Robert Schweitzer - 1996 - Journal of Phenomenological Psychology 27 (1):72-96.
Psychologists investigating dreams in non-Western cultures have generally not considered the meanings of dreams within the unique meaning-structure of the person in his or her societal context. The study was concerned with explicating the indigenous system of dream interpretation of the Xhosa-speaking people, as revealed by acknowledged dream experts, and elaborating upon the life-world of the participants. Fifty dreams and their interpretations were collected from participants, who were traditional healers and their clients. A phenomenological methodology was adopted in explicating the (...)
