  1. Three Major Challenges for Business and Economic Ethics in the Next Ten Years.Georges Enderle - 2011 - Business and Professional Ethics Journal 30 (3-4):231-252.
Given the enormous changes in the ways we will live together on the planet Earth, business and economic ethics, with its considerable developments since the1980s, is called to ask itself what major challenges lay ahead for it in the next ten years. It seems three major challenges have emerged with increasing clarity, urgency, and importance. They concern all levels of business, from the personal to the organizational and the systemic level and likely will become even more important in the future. (...)

  • Ambivalenzen und Grenzen des Mitleids bei Jean-Jacques Rousseau.Gregor Schiemann - 2007 - In H. Landweer (ed.), Gefühle – Struktur und Funktion. Akademieverlag.

  • On Roman ingarden’s conception of ontic foundations of responsibility: Responsibility as foundation of ontology?Tomas Sodeika - 2020 - HORIZON. Studies in Phenomenology 9 (2):601-618.
The Polish phenomenologist Roman Ingarden gained recognition primarily due to his research on aesthetics. However, he considered the ontology to be the main area of his philosophical interests. At the beginning of his scientific career, Ingarden realized that he could not agree with his teacher Edmund Husserl, who considered phenomenology as a transcendental philosophy. From Ingarden’s point of view, the fallacy of this approach lies in the fact that it leads to metaphysical idealism and makes it impossible to grasp the (...)

  • The Relevance of Responsibility to Ethical Business Decisions.Patrick E. Murphy - 2009 - Journal of Business Ethics 90 (S2):245 - 252.
This article reviews the concept of moral responsibility in business ethics and examines the seven previous articles using several types of responsibility in business as the overriding construct to gain a fuller understanding of the ethical impact of these articles. The types of responsibility that are used in this analysis are: legal, corporate, managerial, social, stakeholder, and societal. Observations about how normative ethical principles might also be applied to these articles are also advanced. This article concludes with a call for (...)

  • Scandinavian human-centred systems design: Theoretical reflections and challenges. [REVIEW]Lars Qvortrup - 1996 - AI and Society 10 (2):164-180.
Currently there is a clear trend towards questioning the traditional sovereign human self which for two hundred years has had an undisputed central status within European culture and philosophy. This challenges the tradition of anthropocentrism which in a Scandinavian computer science context has had two theoretical foundations: the workoriented design theory represented by the Scandinavian participatory design philosophy, and the idea of the computer to a rather passive medium for human communication. The process, reducing the computer to a rather passive (...)

  • The Ethics of Conviction Versus the Ethics of Responsibility: A False Antithesis for Business Ethics.Georges Enderle - 2007 - Journal of Human Values 13 (2):83-94.
In his famous lecture on ‘Politics as a Vocation’, Max Weber coined and elaborated on the antithesis between the ethics of conviction and the ethics of responsibility, which has had a far-reaching impact on the ethics discussions, particularly in German-speaking countries. The article explores what Weber himself meant with this distinction and what implications result from it. As an interesting historical observation, Weber's interpretation of ‘Do not resist an evildoer’ in the New Testament is contrasted with Mahatma Gandhi's diametrically opposed (...)
