  • Creating Shared Value Through an Inclusive Development Lens: A Case Study of a CSV Strategy in Ghana’s Cocoa Sector.David Ollivier de Leth & Mirjam A. F. Ros-Tonen - 2021 - Journal of Business Ethics 178 (2):339-354.
Despite the widespread popularity of the Creating Shared Value discourse, its ‘business case’ and ‘win–win’ rhetoric remain problematic. This paper adds an inclusive development perspective to the debate, arguing that analysing CSV strategies through an inclusivity lens contributes to a better operationalisation of societal value; makes tensions and contradictions between economic and societal value explicit and uncovers processes of inclusion, exclusion and adverse inclusion. We illustrate this by analysing Nestlé’s CSV strategy in its cocoa supply chains in Ghana based on (...)

  • Solidarity economy and political mobilisation: Insights from Barcelona.Michela Giovannini - 2020 - Business Ethics 29 (3):497-509.
The solidarity economy has been interpreted as being characterised by a political dimension: however, empirical and theoretical analysis supporting this statement is still embryonic. Drawing on a qualitative study in the city of Barcelona, this article analyses the political dimension of the solidarity economy and its transformative character with respect to neoliberalism by engaging with critical approaches related to the social movement studies. The main objectives were to investigate factors enabling the upsurge of solidarity economy organisations and how the opposition (...)

  • The Sources of Knowledge of the Economic and Social Value in Sport Industry Research: A Co-citation Analysis.Jose Torres-Pruñonosa, Miquel Angel Plaza-Navas, Francisco Díez-Martín & Camilo Prado-Roman - 2020 - Frontiers in Psychology 11.
The aim of this article is to map the intellectual structure of scholarship on economic and social value in the sport industry. Given that bibliometric techniques are specially appropriate for identifying the intellectual structures of a field of knowledge and complement traditional literature reviews, a co-citation bibliometric analysis has been applied. This kind of analysis identifies networks of interconnections. Therefore, we aim to detect both the most and the least active research areas in this field, as well as their sub-disciplinary (...)

  • The subjects of research on gender and global governance: Toward inquiry into the ruling relations of development.Marie L. Campbell & Elena Kim - 2018 - Business Ethics: A European Review 27 (4):350-360.
Responding to the Special Issue's call for “new thinking” on gender and governance in developing societies, we introduce our research on the social organization of development knowledge and its ethical implications. Our feminist‐based approach, institutional ethnography, analyses the ruling relations of development and the standpoints represented in knowledge about development and its governance. Our paper offers an alternative to what we see as “the institutional standpoint” prevailing, but taken for granted, in business and society scholarship addressing development. Instead of theorizing (...)
