The Identity Game

Abstract

THE IDENTITY GAME THE CORE MECHANICS RULE There is only one rule: A thing can only be understood by what it is not. This single rule generates all meaning. FORMULA Intelligence = Awareness × Distinction Understanding emerges when awareness meets distinction. Each new distinction multiplies against awareness, transforming all previous understanding. WEB Because of the rule, every distinction creates connections to everything it is not. This forms an inverse web of meaning - each thing defined by its differences from all other things. Every new distinction both adds to and transforms this web. DIMENSIONS A dimension is a particular kind of field of experience 5 sensory dimensions visual, auditory, tactile, Olfactory, Gustatory. 1 conceptual dimension Within each sensory dimension, new distinctions create understanding. In sight, colors distinguish themselves from each other. In sound, tones separate from silence. Every distinction follows the rule, multiplies understanding, and adds to the web. These sensory distinctions flow into the conceptual dimension, where they combine and transform into abstract understanding. Any specific object is known through the interplay of its sight, sound, feel, and its conceptual distinctions from all other objects. The Identity Game is not a game we can choose to play or not play it is the process through which all understanding emerges. In recognizing this, we do not transcend the game but play it more deeply. To understand is to demonstrate it To reject it is to prove it.
