Abstract
I make a a case against scientific materialism in a manner that is coherent to non-specialized, intelligent readers. I detail problems in the scientific materialist approach that suggest that it deserves to reconsidered in light of contemporary scientific philosophy. I suggest the materialist foundation can replaced by a specialized idealist approach first suggested by Bernard Kastrup and briefly summarized within this treatment. I try to both do justice to his ideas while maintaining a tone and style that will not discourage readers outside of his discipline of particle physics. I next detail how the arrow on time dilemma that has plagued the philosophy of science for more than 2,000 years can be mitigated, by this suggested approach, as well. A last benefit to science grows out of a holographic model that may be applied efficaciously to contemporary science that can be wedded to the idealist approach developed throughout the essay.
