Abstract

This article is the result of the communication presentation that took place at the “II Encontro de Pós-Graduação em Filosofia da UnB”. This article retells the work that investigated the discovery and development of the concept of the particle called the neutrino. For this, the philosophy of Imre Lakatos was used in order to outline a historiography and an epistemo-logical analysis of the scientific process that resulted in the proposal and discovery of the neutrino. A rational reconstruction of the discovery pro-cess was also carried out and how the Principle of Conservation of Energy was articulated around the methodological processes in possible scientific research programs in the development of science that investigates the ex-istence of neutrinos. The work is constantly related to the entries in Imre Lakatos’ philosophy of science and evaluates their applicability in the pro-cess of investigating a specific case of scientific practice.
