Abstract

This little tract from Corpus Hippocraticum, the authorship of which is usually denied to Hippocrates by hipercritical modern editors and commentators, alas, without giving any convincing and compelling arguments, contains the spiritual testament of the “Father of Medicine” for all future generations of adepts of “the most eminent of all arts”. The new Polish rendition of the original text is equipped with translator’s notes, which include: (1) philological analysis of some Greek words and idioms and their Latin, English, German and French counterparts; (2) extracts from other ancient works, in which the reminiscences of Law are recognizable; (3) commentaries about selected philosophical questions.
