  • An abstract algebraic logic approach to tetravalent modal logics.Josep Font & Miquel Rius - 2000 - Journal of Symbolic Logic 65 (2):481-518.
This paper contains a joint study of two sentential logics that combine a many-valued character, namely tetravalence, with a modal character; one of them is normal and the other one quasinormal. The method is to study their algebraic counterparts and their abstract models with the tools of Abstract Algebraic Logic, and particularly with those of Brown and Suszko's theory of abstract logics as recently developed by Font and Jansana in their "A General Algebraic Semantics for Sentential Logics". The logics studied (...)

  • On Generalized I-algebras And 4-valued Modal Algebras.Aldo Figallo & Paolo Landini - 1995 - Reports on Mathematical Logic:3-18.
In this paper we establish a new characterization of 4-valued modal algebras considered by A. Monteiro. In order to obtain this characterization we introduce a new class of algebras named generalized I-algebras. This class contains strictly the class of C-algebras defined by Y. Komori as an algebraic counterpart of the infinite-valued implicative Lukasiewicz propositional calculus. On the other hand, the relationship between I-algebras and commutative BACK-algebras, defined by S. Tanaka in 1975, allows us to say that in a certain sense (...)

  • On łukasiewicz's four-valued modal logic.Josep Maria Font & Petr Hájek - 2002 - Studia Logica 70 (2):157-182.
ukasiewicz''s four-valued modal logic is surveyed and analyzed, together with ukasiewicz''s motivations to develop it. A faithful interpretation of it in classical (non-modal) two-valued logic is presented, and some consequences are drawn concerning its classification and its algebraic behaviour. Some counter-intuitive aspects of this logic are discussed in the light of the presented results, ukasiewicz''s own texts, and related literature.

  • On the rules of intermediate logics.Rosalie Iemhoff - 2006 - Archive for Mathematical Logic 45 (5):581-599.
If the Visser rules are admissible for an intermediate logic, they form a basis for the admissible rules of the logic. How to characterize the admissible rules of intermediate logics for which not all of the Visser rules are admissible is not known. In this paper we give a brief overview of results on admissible rules in the context of intermediate logics. We apply these results to some well-known intermediate logics. We provide natural examples of logics for which the Visser (...)
