  • The arrow of time and the initial conditions of the universe.Robert M. Wald - 2006 - Studies in History and Philosophy of Science Part B: Studies in History and Philosophy of Modern Physics 37 (3):394-398.
The existence of a thermodynamic arrow of time in the present universe implies that the initial state of the observable portion of our universe at the tt"big bangtt" must have been very tt"specialtt". We argue that it is not plausible that these special initial conditions have a dynamical origin.

  • Quantum nonlocality as an axiom.Sandu Popescu & Daniel Rohrlich - 1994 - Foundations of Physics 24 (3):379-385.
In the conventional approach to quantum mechanics, indeterminism is an axiom and nonlocality is a theorem. We consider inverting the logical order, making nonlocality an axiom and indeterminism a theorem. Nonlocal “superquantum” correlations, preserving relativistic causality, can violate the CHSH inequality more strongly than any quantum correlations.

  • Can Quantum Theory be Applied to the Universe as a Whole?Claus Kiefer - 2010 - Foundations of Physics 40 (9-10):1410-1418.
I argue that quantum theory can, and in fact must, be applied to the Universe as a whole. After a general introduction, I discuss two concepts that are essential for my chain of arguments: the universality of quantum theory and the emergence of classical behaviors by decoherence. A further motivation is given by the open problem of quantum gravity. I then present the main ingredients of quantum cosmology and discuss their relevance for the interpretation of quantum theory. I end with (...)
