  1. Stability, the NIP, and the NSOP: model theoretic properties of formulas via topological properties of function spaces.Karim Khanaki - 2020 - Mathematical Logic Quarterly 66 (2):136-149.
We study and characterize stability, the negation of the independence property (NIP) and the negation of the strict order property (NSOP) in terms of topological and measure theoretical properties of classes of functions. We study a measure theoretic property, Talagrand's stability, and explain the relationship between this property and the NIP in continuous logic. Using a result of Bourgain, Fremlin, and Talagrand, we prove almost definability and Baire 1 definability of coheirs assuming the NIP. We show that a formula has (...)

  • Local order property in nonelementary classes.Rami Grossberg & Olivier Lessmann - 2000 - Archive for Mathematical Logic 39 (6):439-457.
. We study a local version of the order property in several frameworks, with an emphasis on frameworks where the compactness theorem fails: (1) Inside a fixed model, (2) for classes of models where the compactness theorem fails and (3) for the first order case. Appropriate localizations of the order property, the independence property, and the strict order property are introduced. We are able to generalize some of the results that were known in the case of local stability for the (...)

  • Remarks on the NIP in a model.Karim Khanaki & Anand Pillay - 2018 - Mathematical Logic Quarterly 64 (6):429-434.
We define the notion has the NIP (not the independence property) in A, where A is a subset of a model, and give some equivalences by translating results from function theory. We also discuss the number of coheirs when A is not necessarily countable, and revisit the notion “ has the NOP (not the order property) in a model M”.

  • (1 other version)Stable models and reflexive Banach spaces.José Iovino - 1999 - Journal of Symbolic Logic 64 (4):1595-1600.
We show that a formula φ(x, y) is stable if and only if φ is the pairing map on the unit ball of E x E * , where E is a reflexive Banach space. The result remains true if the formula φ is replaced by a set of formulas $p(\bar{x},\bar{y})$.
