Seni berfilsafat di ruang akademik memuat pengalaman penulis dalam berfilsafat dari UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta sebagai mahasiswa Pascasarjana Filsafat ke IAIN Manado sebagai Dosen Filsafat.

Twenty-one units of school E-books subjecting in Arts and Culture in total has been released nationwide, which must be consented by Indonesia’s Body of National Standard of Education (Badan Standar Nasional Pendidikan) – the appointed organization to certify Indonesia’s educational features. The graphic instruments applied on cover designs, of which emphasis is merely on technical aspects, requires further examination. Such condition becomes the basis of this study in order to identify, describe and illustrate the implementation of cover designing school E-books (...) subjecting in Arts and Culture through: (1) proficient instructional media’s perspective, (2) visual communication design’s perspective, (3) visual semiotics’ perspective, and (4) end users’ perspective. Additionally, it also qualifies the cover designs. Pertaining qualitative research toward the entire 21 school E-books subjecting in Arts and Culture, the data gathering process involves three sets of instrument:comprehensive reading on visual marks and their relevance with the books’ concepts as cited by C.S. Peirce, corroborative approach toward specialists on both instructional media and visual communication designs, and collective line on end users’ responds. Conclusively, it is found out that: (1) instructional media consultants agree on the significance of all covers, while visual communication designers pronounce that twelve of them are worth it, (2) all covers meet the books’ concepts’ relevance semiotically, (3) students as end-users have positive responds toward all covers, and (4) 12 out of 21 sets of cover design qualify after fulfilling all criteria obliged by this study. Therefore, it recommends: (1) optimal application of visual marks in cover designing process by utilizing e-book features, (2) mature procedure in selecting cover designer(s) to better represent the concept of each book, and (3) intensification on selecting E-book cover designs. The Body of National Standard of Education needs to assess not only technical instruments applied, but also multimedia studies and visual communication designing theories. Further, it is expected to involve both the expertise of visual communication designers and view of the students as targeted end-users in future evaluation process. (shrink)

Kimi zaman da bilsek bile bu akademik toplumun şeffaf olduğu anlamına gelmeyebilir. Doktora sonrası yurda dönmeden önce, tezimi okuyan hocalarımdan “Orada seni anlayan birilerini bulabilecek misin?” gibi bir soru gelmişti. Sorunun doğru yanıtının ne olduğundan emin değildim; hala da değilim.

Gapura Perahu Sebagai Ikon Media Promosi ISI Surakarta, Surya Afandy, 2014. Tesis Program Pascasarjana penciptaan dan pengkajian Seni Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Surakarta, pengkajian seni rupa. Tesis ini membahas tentang keberadaan gapura perahu ISI Surakarta, latar belakang pemakaian ikon gapura Perahu ISI Surakarta dan bentuk media promosi ISI Surakarta yang terdapat ikon gapura perahu ISI Surakarta didalamnya. Permasalahan penelitian ini terletak pada keberadaan gapura perahu ISI Surakarta, latar belakang pemakaian ikon gapura Perahu ISI Surakarta dan bentuk media (...) promosi ISI Surakarta yang terdapat ikon gapura perahu ISI Surakarta didalamnya. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian diperoleh dari karya, observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumen (arsip). Proses analisis data menggunakan interaksi analisis data melalui beberapa tahapan, yaitu pengumpulan data, reduksi, sajian data, serta kesimpulan dan interpretasi analisis dengan dasar teori semiotika Bhartes. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh simpulan keberadaan gapura Perahu ISI Surakarta sebuah karya dari seorang seniman yang secara tidak langsung mempengaruhi dinamika kehidupan masyarakat dan orang-orang kreatif yang bekerja di ISI Surakarta juga memanfaatkan ikon gapura perahu ISI Surakarta menjadi identitas ISI Surakarta, ini terbukti dengan sering munculnya ikon gapura perahu pada media promo-media promo ISI Surakarta. Pemilihan ikon gapura perahu ISI Surakarta sebagai inspirasi untuk media promosi ISI Surakarta dikarenakan gapura tersebut selain memiliki bentuk yang artistik, lebih familiar di mata masyarakat, juga memiliki konsep filosofis yang dapat mewakili ISI Surakarta secara keseluruhan. Cerminan visual gapura Perahu STSI atau ISI Surakarta sendiri secara tidak langsung mengungkap mitos pada ISI Surakarta, yaitu ideologi dewa ruci yang muncul melalui pendekatan semiotika Barthes karena Penggunaan teks, bahasa, maupun tanda pada umumnya didasarkan atas ideologi tertentu secara sadar atau tidak sadar oleh pemakai tanda, dengan demikian kegiatan membaca tanda pada media promosi cetak dapat diartikan sebagai membongkar suatu ideologi yang secara manipulatif bekerja dalam sebuah kondisi sosial tertentu. -/- . The traditional Javanese tembangs created by Sunan Kalijaga, especially Lir ilir and Kidung Rumekso ing Wengi, have an extraordinary depth of philosophical meaning when associated with Javanese culture. Therefore, this research aims to explore and analyze the philosophical meanings contained in the two tembangs and find out how the spiritual messages in the tembangs are still relevant to the conditions of society in the modern era. The sources of data for this research are (1) interviews with Sunan Kalijaga's descendants, artists (...) in Demak Regency, Demak Regency officials, (2) historical records and scientific articles about Sunan Kalijaga, and (3) direct observation in Demak Regency. This research uses Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic theory to find out the deeper meaning of the text of the two tembangs. For data validation, this research uses the triangulation method, in order to compare all available data and find a common thread of reliability to be presented as scientific data. In the interpretation stage, the researcher tried to explore the messages contained in the two tembangs, which were analyzed from the lyrics of the tembangs and the opinions of experts found in Demak Regency. The results show that both tembangs contain philosophical teachings on how to achieve wisdom and peace in every episode of human life. They also teach about the importance of establishing a good relationship with God. In addition, this study also revealed that the spiritual messages in these two tembangs are still relevant as a reflection of everyone's spiritual journey in the modern era. (shrink)
