    Constructivist epistemology posits that all truths are knowable. One might ask to what extent constructivism is compatible with naturalized epistemology and knowledge obtained from inference-making using successful scientific theories. If quantum theory correctly describes the structure of the physical world, and if quantum theoretic inferences about which measurement outcomes will be observed with unit probability count as knowledge, we demonstrate that constructivism cannot be upheld.     We propose a new topological semantics for evidence, evidence-based justifications, belief, and knowledge.     We consider extending the modal logic KD45, commonly taken as the baseline system for belief, with propositional quantifiers that can be used to formalize natural language sentences such as “everything I believe is true” or “there is something that I neither believe nor disbelieve.” Our main results are axiomatizations of the logics with propositional quantifiers of natural classes of complete Boolean algebras with an operator validating KD45.     We present a neighbourhood-style semantic framework for modal epistemic logic modelling agents who process information using relevant logic. The distinguishing feature of the framework in comparison to relevant modal logic is that the environment the agent is situated in is assumed to be a classical possible world. This framework generates two-layered logics combining classical logic on the propositional level with relevant logic in the scope of modal operators. Our main technical result is a general soundness and completeness theorem.

  • On algebraic and topological semantics of the modal logic of common knowledge S4CI.Daniyar Shamkanov - 2024 - Logic Journal of the IGPL 32 (1):164-179.
    For the modal logic $\textsf {S4}^{C}_{I}$, we identify the class of completable $\textsf {S4}^{C}_{I}$-algebras and prove for them a Stone-type representation theorem. As a consequence, we obtain strong algebraic and topological completeness of the logic $\textsf {S4}^{C}_{I}$ in the case of local semantic consequence relations. In addition, we consider an extension of the logic $\textsf {S4}^{C}_{I}$ with certain infinitary derivations and establish the corresponding strong completeness results for the enriched system in the case of global semantic consequence relations.
