  1. The Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere: An Inquiry Into a Category of Bourgeois Society.Jürgen Habermas - 2015 - Polity.
This major work retraces the emergence and development of the Bourgeois public sphere - that is, a sphere which was distinct from the state and in which citizens could discuss issues of general interest. In analysing the historical transformations of this sphere, Habermas recovers a concept which is of crucial significance for current debates in social and political theory. • The basis and relevance of emotional dignity.David Badcott - 2003 - Medicine, Health Care and Philosophy 6 (2):123-131.

  • The Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere: An Inquiry Into a Category of Bourgeois Society.Jurgen Habermas - 1991 - Polity.
This is Jürgen Habermas's most concrete historical-sociological book and one of the key contributions to political thought in the postwar period. It will be a revelation to those who have known Habermas only through his theoretical writing to find his later interests in problems of legitimation and communication foreshadowed in this lucid study of the origins, nature, and evolution of public opinion in democratic societies.
