  1. Suitable extender models I.W. Hugh Woodin - 2010 - Journal of Mathematical Logic 10 (1):101-339.
We investigate both iteration hypotheses and extender models at the level of one supercompact cardinal. The HOD Conjecture is introduced and shown to be a key conjecture both for the Inner Model Program and for understanding the limits of the large cardinal hierarchy. We show that if the HOD Conjecture is true then this provides strong evidence for the existence of an ultimate version of Gödel's constructible universe L. Whether or not this "ultimate" L exists is now arguably the central (...)

  • Large Cardinals and the Continuum Hypothesis.Radek Honzik - 2018 - In Carolin Antos, Sy-David Friedman, Radek Honzik & Claudio Ternullo (eds.), The Hyperuniverse Project and Maximality. Basel, Switzerland: Birkhäuser. pp. 205-226.
This is a survey paper which discusses the impact of large cardinals on provability of the Continuum Hypothesis. It was Gödel who first suggested that perhaps “strong axioms of infinity” could decide interesting set-theoretical statements independent over ZFC, such as CH. This hope proved largely unfounded for CH—one can show that virtually all large cardinals defined so far do not affect the status of CH. It seems to be an inherent feature of large cardinals that they do not determine properties (...)

  • The Higher Infinite: Large Cardinals in Set Theory from Their Beginnings.Akihiro Kanamori - 1994 - Springer.
This is the softcover reprint of the very popular hardcover edition. The theory of large cardinals is currently a broad mainstream of modern set theory, the main area of investigation for the analysis of the relative consistency of mathematical propositions and possible new axioms for mathematics. The first of a projected multi-volume series, this book provides a comprehensive account of the theory of large cardinals from its beginnings and some of the direct outgrowths leading to the frontiers of contemporary research. (...)

  • Set Theory.Thomas J. Jech - 1978 - New York, NY, USA: Academic Press.
Set Theory has experienced a rapid development in recent years, with major advances in forcing, inner models, large cardinals and descriptive set theory. The present book covers each of these areas, giving the reader an understanding of the ideas involved. It can be used for introductory students and is broad and deep enough to bring the reader near the boundaries of current research. Students and researchers in the field will find the book invaluable both as a study material and as (...)
