    Prezentowany artykuł jest próbą usystematyzowania zróżnicowanych ujęć typologizacji imiesłowów (participiów) w języku niemieckim i polskim. W pierwszej części artykułu autor stara się uporządkować terminologię dotyczącą imiesłowów w obydwu rozpatrywanych językach oraz omówić aktualny stan badań w tym zakresie. W dalszej kolejności autor próbuje sprowadzić do jednego mianownika wszystkie teorie odnoszące się do klasyfikacji imiesłowów jako zjawiska językowego, obecnego we wszystkich językach indoeuropejskich.     Autor niniejszego artykułu stawia sobie za cel sklasyfikowanie różnorodnych możliwości przekładu na język niemiecki polskich konstrukcji z imiesłowami. Dotyczy to, zgodnie z polską tradycją gramatyczną, czterech typów imiesłowów: przymiotnikowych biernych i czynnych oraz przysłówkowych uprzednich i współczesnych. Jako materiał źródłowy posłużyły prozatorskie utwory znanych pisarzy polskich oraz ich przekłady dokonane przez zawodowych tłumaczy niemieckich, specjalizujących się w przekładach literatury polskiej. Z zaprezentowanego materiału wynika, że należy unikać bezkrytycznego kopiowania polskich struktur imiesłowowych, w szczególności, gdy mamy do czynienia z imiesłowami przysłówkowymi. (...)
