    Thomas Kelly, "Bias: A Philosophical Study". [REVIEW]Jyoti Kishore - 2024 - Philosophy in Review 44 (3):19-21.

As a topic of inquiry, bias has attracted comparatively less attention in philosophy than in other disciplines like psychology and statistics. Hence, this book is an interesting and relevant read. Scholars working in (...)

  6. Synthesis and antiviral activity of 1-(n-substituted amino acetyl)-2-(5-substituted phthalimidomethyl) benzimidazoles.Archana Jyoti - 2020 - International Journal of Chemical Studies 8 (4):3227-3229.
Phthalic anhydride and 3-Nitro Phthalic anhydride were reacted with 2-aminomethyl benzimidazole in pyridine to give 2- (5-substituted phthalimidomethyl) bezimidazoles. These benzimidazoles were refluxed with chloroacetyl chloride in dry benzene followed by reaction with different secondary amines to give 1-(N-substituted amino acetyl)-2-(5-substituted phthalimidomethyl) benzimidazoles. Antiviral activity of these compounds was studied against Ranikhet Disease Virus (RDV) and Vaccinia Virus (VV). Some of these compounds have been found to be active against RDV.

Condensation of this hydrazide with different aromatic acids in presence of POCl3 gave 2-3, 5 dinitropheny1-5-substituted pheny1 1, 3, 4-oxadiazoles. All the final compounds were tested against Ranikhet Disease Virus (RDV). However no compound showed antiviral activity against RDV.

This work presents a method to model egocentric bias, the real-life tendency to emphasize one's own opinion heavily when presented with multiple opinions. We use a symmetric distribution, centered at an agent's own opinion, as opposed to the Bounded Confidence (BC) model used in (...)
