    We study the global properties of [Formula: see text], the Turing degrees of the n-r.e. sets. In Theorem 1.5, we show that the first order of [Formula: see text] is not decidable. In Theorem 1.6, we show that for any two n and m with n < m, [Formula: see text] is not a Σ1-substructure of [Formula: see text].

    We study the connection between factors of the Medvedev lattice and constructive logic. The algebraic properties of these factors determine logics lying in between intuitionistic propositional logic and the logic of the weak law of the excluded middle (also known as De Morgan, or Jankov, logic). We discuss the relation between the weak law of the excluded middle and the algebraic notion of join-reducibility. Finally we discuss autoreducible degrees.

    We prove that the existential theory of the Turing degrees, in the language with Turing reduction, 0, and unary relations for the classes in the generalized high/low hierarchy, is decidable. We also show that every finite poset labeled with elements of (where is the partition of induced by the generalized high/low hierarchy) can be embedded in preserving the labels. Note that no condition is imposed on the labels.

    An AE-sentence is a sentence in prenex normal form with all universal quantifiers preceding all existential quantifiers, and the AE-theory of a structure is the set of all AE-sentences true in the structure. We show that the AE-theory of \, \cap, \cup, 0, 1)\) is decidable by giving a procedure which, for any AE-sentence in the language, determines the truth or falsity of the sentence in our structure.
