  1. Against "humanism": Speciesism, personhood, and preference.Simon Cushing - 2003 - Journal of Social Philosophy 34 (4):556–571.
Article responds to the criticism of speciesism that it is somehow less immoral than other -isms by showing that this is a mistake resting on an inadequate taxonomy of the various -isms. Criticizes argument by Bonnie Steinbock that preference to your own species is not immoral by comparison with racism of comparable level.

  3. The aporia of affection in Husserl's analyses concerning passive and active synthesis.John Hartmann - manuscript
FEEL FREE TO CITE - IGNORE IN-PDF REQUEST -/- Husserl defines affection in the Analyses1 as "the allure given to consciousness, the particular pull that an object given to consciousness exercises on the ego."2 That something becomes prominent for the ego implies that the object exerts a kind of 'pull' upon the ego, a demanding of egoic attention. This affective pull is relative in force, such that the same object can be experienced in varying modes of prominence and affective relief (...)

  4. Current Shopping Trends In Slovakia.Jana Mitríková, Martina Marchevská, Irina Kozárová, Maksym Bezpartochnyi, Igor Britchenko & Radostin Vazov - 2021 - Young Science 9 (3):1-18.
Understanding the buying and shopping behaviour of current and potential consumers is essential in formulating a successful marketing strategy. It is no longer sufficient for companies to merely produce goods or provide services; companies must know who their consumers are, why they buy, when, where and at what price they buy, and what benefits they expect to gain from the purchase. Companies also need to identify how far consumers are willing to travel to make their purchases and whether the size (...)

  5. The case for physician assisted suicide: how can it possibly be proven?Edgar Dahl & Neil Levy - 2006 - Journal of Medical Ethics 32 (6):335-338.
In her paper, The case for physician assisted suicide: not proven, Bonnie Steinbock argues that the experience with Oregon’s Death with Dignity Act fails to demonstrate that the benefits of legalising physician assisted suicide outweigh its risks. Given that her verdict is based on a small number of highly controversial cases that will most likely occur under any regime of legally implemented safeguards, she renders it virtually impossible to prove the case for physician assisted suicide. In this brief paper, (...)

  7. Pojem krízy v koncepcii A. Naessa.Richard Sťahel - 2015 - Studia Philosophica 62 (2):33-43.
Understanding of the term of crisis significantly influences the main argumentation line of the philosophical conceptions stimulated by the reflection of the crisis. The deep ecology of A. Naess belongs to these philosophical concepts. The term of crisis in his thinking appears in a form of a threat as well as opportunity, necessity to make important decisions. It also has a meaning of historical and political crisis, i.e. situations in which under the pressure the basic imperatives and organizational principles of (...)

  8. Zen Buddhism and the Phenomenology of Mysticism.Dylan S. Bailey - 2021 - Journal for Continental Philosophy of Religion 3 (2):123-143.
In this paper, I use a comparative analysis of mysticism in Zen and the Abrahamic faiths to formulate a phenomenological account of mysticism “as such.” I argue that, while Zen Buddhism is distinct from other forms of mystical experience in important ways, it can still be fit into a general phenomenological category of mystical experience. First, I explicate the phenomenological accounts of mysticism provided by Anthony Steinbock and Angela Bello. Second, I offer an account of Zen mysticism which both (...)

  9. The political uses of philosophy-Elective affinities in the Spanish transition to democracy.F. Colom - 2004 - Filozofia 59 (3-4):156-171.

  10. Psychológia Vedy A Vedeckého Myslenia.Imrich Ruisel - unknown
Každodenná existencia človeka je významne ovplyvnená dôsledkami zvláštneho poznávacieho úsilia nazývaného veda. Veda je pojem, zahŕňajúci rôznorodé aktivity, orientované či už na predpoveď počasia, konštruovanie inteligentných zbraní, výrobu vakcíny proti AIDS, odhady ekonomického rastu, hľadanie života na Marse, odhaľovanie príčin agresivity, prípadne na štúdium podstaty ľudskej inteligencie. Je to hľadanie značne neusporiadané a nedôsledné, neraz bez stanovovania základných priorít. Značné plytvanie intelektovým potenciá- lom ľudstva vyplýva z faktu, že doposiaľ sa nepodarilo vybudovať systém, umožňujúci dlhodobo skladovať užitočné informácie využiteľné nielen (...)
