Steam turbine generator is an electromechanical system which converts heat energy to electrical energy. In this paper, the modeling, design and analysis of a simple steam turbine generator have done using Matlab/Simulink Toolbox. The open loop system have been analyzed to have an efficiency of 76.92 %. Observer based & linear quadratic regulator (LQR) controllers have been designed to improve the generating voltage. Comparison of this two proposed controllers have been done for increasing the performance improvement to generate (...)

Then we talk about gender stereotypes in Steam education we can find in the societal mentality: „Girls don´t find STEAM interesting” „Boys are more capable for STEAM”, „Boys are oriented to achievements, girls to feelings and society”. This paper presents the results of sensitive gender workshops, to provide illustrations of stereotypes as an input for the creation of value-added content with gender awareness and continue sensitizing teachers about gender stereotypes in approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, (...)

This paper investigates the comparison between mixed H 2 /H∞ with regional pole placement control and H 2 optimal control for the design of steam condenser. The comparison have been made for a step change in the steam condenser pressure set point for a step change of 10 & 23 seconds using MATLAB/Simulink environment for the steam condenser with mixed H 2 /H∞ with regional pole placement controller, steam condenser with H 2 optimal controller and (...) condenser without controller. The steam condenser with mixed H 2 /H∞ with regional pole placement controller presented excellent and superior dynamic performance in response to the two step changes and an improvement in settling time. The overall simulation results demonstrated that the steam condenser with mixed H 2 /H∞ with regional pole placement controller can be an efficient alternative to the steam condenser with H 2 optimal controller for the steam condenser. VIRTUAL LANDSCAPE IN SERIOUS GAMES: A FRAMEWORK FOR ENHANCING THE PLAYER INTERACTION FOCUSING ON THE LEARNING RATE.Sepehr Vaez Afshar - 2021 - Dissertation, Istanbul Technical University
Throughout history, education has always been essential for humanity's justice and fundamental for the creation of a free and satisfying society with the dissemination of knowledge. Hence, in addition to the life occurrences educating people, traditional higher education methods have played an important role for a long period. However, the age of technology has changed the educational system along with the people's lifestyles to meet the continuously changing conditions. During the past twenty years, the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) led (...)

  7. When should an effective altruist donate?William MacAskill - manuscript
Effective altruism is the use of evidence and careful reasoning to work out how to maximize positive impact on others with a given unit of resources, and the taking of action on that basis. It’s a philosophy and a social movement that is gaining considerable steam in the philanthropic world. For example, GiveWell, an organization that recommends charities working in global health and development and generally follows effective altruist principles, moves over $90 million per year to its top recommendations. Throughout what is now the more than 50-year history of the computer many theories have been advanced regarding the contribution this machine would make to changes both in the structure of society and in ways of thinking. Like other theories regarding the future, these should also be taken with a pinch of salt. The history of the development of computer technology contains many predictions which have failed to come true and many applications that have not been foreseen. While we must (...)

  9. A Framework Proposal for Developing Historical Video Games Based on Player Review Data Mining to Support Historic Preservation.Sarvin Eshaghi, Sepehr Vaez Afshar & Mahyar Hadighi - 2023 - In Saif Haq, Adil Sharag-Eldin & Sepideh Niknia (eds.), ARCC 2023 CONFERENCE PROCEEDING: The Research Design Interface. Architectural Research Centers Consortium, Inc.. pp. 297-305.
Historic preservation, which is a vital act for conveying people’s understanding of the past, such as events, ideas, and places to the future, allows people to preserve history for future generations. Additionally, since the historic properties are currently concentrated in urban areas, an urban-oriented approach will contribute to the issue. Hence, public awareness is a key factor that paves the way for this conservation. Public history, a history with a public audience and special methods of representation, can serve society in (...)

  10. Is Deontology a Moral Confabulation?Emilian Mihailov - 2015 - Neuroethics 9 (1):1-13.
Joshua Greene has put forward the bold empirical hypothesis that deontology is a confabulation of moral emotions. Deontological philosophy does not steam from "true" moral reasoning, but from emotional reactions, backed up by post hoc rationalizations which play no role in generating the initial moral beliefs. In this paper, I will argue against the confabulation hypothesis. First, I will highlight several points in Greene’s discussion of confabulation, and identify two possible models. Then, I will argue that the evidence does (...)

Journal bearings play an important role on many rotating machines placed on industrial environments, especially in steam turbines of thermoelectric power plants. Babbitt damage (BD) and excessive clearance (C) are usual faults of steam turbine journal bearings. This paper is focused on achieving an effective identification of these faults through an intelligent recognition approach. The work was carried out through the processing of real data obtained from an industrial environment. In this work, a feature selection procedure was applied (...)

Gamification in education offers an innovative way of learning. However, some studies claim that, while it helps raise students’ motivation, the kind of motivation is extrinsic and, so, intrinsic motivation declines with time. The researchers used the descriptive research design to describe the STEM students’ intrinsic motivation along with the utilization of game elements in teaching genetics through a learning management system. The researchers collected quantitative data using the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory, which were analyzed through descriptive statistics and complemented with (...)
