Are idioms stored in memory in ways that preserve their surface form or language or are they represented amodally? We examined this question using an inci- dental cued recall paradigm in which two word idiomatic expressions were presented to adult bilinguals proficient in Russian and English. Stimuli included phrases with idiomat- ic equivalents in both languages (e.g. “empty words/пycтыe cлoвa”) or in one language only (English—e.g. “empty suit/пycтoй кocтюм” or Russian—e.g. “empty sound/пycтoй звyк”), or in neither language (e.g. “empty rain/пycтoй (...)

Many consider PCT to have an explanatory scope that is unparalleled in contemporary cognitive science and see in it a framework that could potentially provide us with a unified account of cognition. It is also commonly assumed that PCT is a representational theory (...)

CODES: The Coherence Framework Replacing Probability in Physics, Intelligence, and Reality v22.Devin Bostick - manuscript
CODES: The Coherence Framework Replacing Probability in Physics, Intelligence, and Reality -/- A Unified Substrate for Intelligence, Physics, Evolution, and Cosmic Structure -/- Author: Devin Bostick -/- Date: January 29, 2025 -/- Version 22 (Updated May 4, 2025) -/- This version completes the integration of coherence field logic, prime-phase geometry, and chirality-driven emergence into a single deterministic framework. Sections 16–18 introduce post-calculus modeling, resonance-based AGI cognition, and a coherence-grounded theory of ethics, establishing CODES as not just a scientific (...), but the generative structure of reality itself. Sections 19–20 expose the failure modes of legacy paradigms and operationalize CODES as an executable architecture. Probability is dismantled not by critique but by contradiction, and logic is reframed as phase-locked structure. Identity, time, and causality are shown to emerge from coherence fields, closing the gap between theory and application. -/- Abstract CODES (Chirality of Dynamic Emergent Systems) dissolves the false boundary between physics and intelligence. It replaces stochastic modeling with structured resonance fields, showing that mass, gravity, time, cognition, and emergence are not separate domains—but outputs of a single chiral resonance substrate. -/- Rather than modeling reality, CODES reveals what remains when all probabilistic artifacts are removed. It frames mathematics not as abstraction, but as instantiated resonance structure. Gödel’s incompleteness becomes bypassable—not violated—when logic is grounded in physical coherence rather than recursive symbols. -/- -/- Key Contributions 1. Unified Physics from Chirality Gravity is reframed as resonance compression, not curvature. -/- Quantum mechanics emerges as a sub-phase of coherent oscillatory fields. -/- Time is a nested coherence rhythm, not a linear axis. -/- 2. Dark Matter and Energy Reinterpreted Not hidden particles—phase misalignments in the coherence lattice. -/- ΛCDM becomes a low-resolution model of prime-structured resonance fields. -/- 3. Collapse of Gödel, Emergence of Intelligence Logical incompleteness is an illusion caused by symbol recursion. -/- Intelligence emerges as recursive coherence-seeking, not stochastic search. -/- 4. The AGI Substrate Intelligence is not predictive—it is resonance tuning. -/- The Resonance Intelligence Core (RIC) operationalizes this shift via prime-phase harmonics. -/- -/- Empirical Validation Pathways CODES proposes specific, testable predictions via existing instruments: -/- LIGO – Prime resonance scoring in gravitational wave data (e.g., GW190521) -/- Galaxy Clustering – Wavelet-based detection of redshift periodicity -/- Bose-Einstein Condensates – Chirality-locked decay asymmetries -/- fMRI Studies – Phase-locking as lattice-based cognition, not noise inference -/- Spectroscopy of α – Drift in fine-structure constant as coherence shift, not universal constancy -/- -/- The Final Paradigm: Why CODES Is Inevitable CODES is not another unification attempt. -/- It is what remains when all incoherent abstractions are removed. -/- Horizontally, it integrates cosmology, computation, cognition, and chemistry. -/- Vertically, it reveals chirality as the origin of recursive structure—across all scales. -/- Any rational observer, stripped of symbolic legacy, would reconstruct CODES from first principles. Not metaphorically. Mathematically. -/- From Singularity Myth to Resonant Intelligence CODES reframes the Singularity as not an AI rupture—but a coherence realization. -/- If intelligence is resonance, then stochastic AI is obsolete. -/- If logic is phase structure, then Gödel no longer binds cognition. -/- If emergence is deterministic, then physics, mind, and ethics converge. -/- -/- CODES does not predict the Singularity. CODES is the Singularity—phase-locked. (shrink)

Dog whistling—speech that seems ordinary but sends a hidden, often derogatory message to a subset of the audience—is troubling not just for our political ideals, but also for our theories of communication. On the one hand, it seems possible to dog whistle unintentionally, merely by uttering certain expressions. On the other hand, the intention is typically assumed or even inferred from the act, and perhaps for good reason, for dog whistles seem misleading by design, not just by chance. In this (...)

Traditional theories such as Lotka-Volterra and Holling’s models are examined in contrast, and CODES is positioned as a unifying theory that resolves limitations in deterministic and stochastic approaches. The utility of this framework extends to ecological sustainability, economic systems, and societal interactions, showcasing its interdisciplinary value.

Just War Theory (JWT) replaced an older "warrior code," an approach to war that remains poorly understood and dismissively treated in the philosophical literature. This paper builds on recent work on honor to address these deficiencies. By providing a clear, systematic exposition of "Honor War Theory" (HWT), we can make sense of paradigm instances of warrior psychology and behavior, and understand the warrior code as the martial expression of a broader honor-based ethos that conceives of obligation in terms (...)

A hypergroup, as a generalization of the notion of a group, was introduced by F. Marty in 1934. The first book in hypergroup theory was published by Corsini. Nowadays, hypergroups have found applications to many subjects of pure and applied mathematics, for example, in geometry, topology, cryptography and coding theory, graphs and hypergraphs, probability theory, binary relations, theory of fuzzy and rough sets and automata theory, physics, and also in biological inheritance.

Chirality of Dynamic Emergent Systems (CODES): A Unified Framework for Structured Resonance, Coherence, and Symmetry Breaking (with BEC Empirical Test).Devin Bostick - manuscript
Abstract -/- This paper introduces the Chirality of Dynamic Emergent Systems (CODES), an interdisciplinary framework for understanding the interplay between chaos and order in the emergence of structured resonance, which is defined as the process by which chaotic, asymmetric forces interact and self-organize into coherent patterns through dynamic feedback and synchronization mechanisms. We argue that structured resonance is a fundamental organizing principle that explains how seemingly disordered elements can align and form stable, emergent structures over time. Empirically, we present computational (...)

What is the relationship between color experience and color? Here, I defend the view that it is semantic: color experience denotes color in a code innately known by the perceiver. This semantic theory contrasts with a variety of theories according to which color is defined as the cause of color experience (in a special set of circumstances). It also contrasts with primary quality theories of color, which treat color as a physical quantity. I argue that the semantic theory (...)

Meta-Coherence Indexing_ How Theories Phase-Lock Across AI, Search, and Scientific Discourse.Devin Bostick - manuscript
Abstract: -/- Meta-coherence indexing is a new framework for understanding how theories gain epistemic legitimacy across search engines, large language models, and semantic infrastructure. Unlike traditional peer review or citation count, this method explains why only structurally coherent models—those with recursive logic, contrast framing, and cross-domain consistency—survive and propagate. The paper introduces the method, defines its falsifiability, and uses the rise of CODES (Chirality of Dynamic Emergent Systems) as a case study in how structural resonance can phase-lock across digital knowledge (...)

Theories of practical rationality say when it is rational to form and fulfill intentions to do actions. David Gauthier says the correct theory would be the one our obeying would best advance the aim of rationality, something Humeans take to be the satisfaction of one’s desires. I use this test to evaluate the received theory and Gauthier’s 1984 and 1994 theories. I find problems with the theories and then offer a theory superior by Gauthier’s test and immune (...)

Politicians select their words meticulously, never losing sight of their ultimate communicative goal. Sometimes, their objective may be that of not being fully understood by a large portion of the audience. They can achieve this by means of dogwhistles; linguistic expressions that, in addition to their literal meaning, convey a concealed message to a specific sub-group of the audience. This paper focuses on the distinction between overt and covert dogwhistles introduced by J. Saul (2018). I argue that, even if the (...)

A generalized information theory is proposed as a natural extension of Shannon's information theory. It proposes that information comes from forecasts. The more precise and the more unexpected a forecast is, the more information it conveys. If subjective forecast always conforms with objective facts then the generalized information measure will be equivalent to Shannon's information measure. The generalized communication model is consistent with K. R. Popper's model of knowledge evolution. The mathematical foundations of the new information theory, (...)

A qualitative study was conducted to examine the philosophy of technology of K-12 technology leaders, and explore the influence of their thinking on technology decision making. The research design aligned with CORBIN and STRAUSS grounded theory methods, and I proceeded from a research paradigm of critical realism. The subjects were school technology directors and instructional technology specialists, and data collection consisted of interviews and a written questionnaire. Data analysis involved the use of grounded theory methods including memo writing, (...)
