The English Synopsis is after the text of the book. The book presents an original and generalizing substantive vision of the philosophy of science through the prism of a detailed analysis of the polysystem structure of scientific theories. Theories are considered, firstly, as complex specialized forms of developed scientific thinking about the realities studied by natural science, secondly, as constantly improving tools for producing new knowledge in interaction with experimental research, and thirdly, as carriers of ordered and verified knowledge. Emphasis (...) is placed on their nominal and ontic subsystems. The book develops personal and joint research of the authors (theoretical physicist and philosopher), the experience of teaching philosophy of physics at NaUKMA, philosophy of science at the Higher School of Philosophy at the H. Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and theoretical physics at the National Technical University "Ihor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute". The research is based on a significant source base covering works of modern Western researchers in natural science and philosophy of science. For students, teachers, and scientists who are interested in the problems of modern philosophy of science and have a certain amount of scientific knowledge. T. Zinkevich. "The ideas of civil religion in the works of Mykola Kostomarov." The author based on the fact that a civil religion - it is a social and cultural phenomenon in which the light of a kind of religious language and the specific practices of the necessity of finding and approval of the national state, which has its roots in the community needs to find the sacred in the work, which is inherent in the transcendent, eternally linear in nature (...) and which is rooted in the history of the territory. According to N. Kostomarov, the main provisions of national faith as follows: God is one, He is the creator of all things, the seat of comfort and happiness, belief in which is the key statements in the freedom society, equality, and fraternity; social ideals of Ukrainians, which is the expression of Christian Cossack republic and the social doctrine of the early, truthful Christianity coincide; Ukraine, in contrast to other ethnic groups, is a carrier and protector of the true social and Christian values, which makes it possible immortality Ukrainians, his primacy in the social liberation and unification of the Slavic community, in which Ukraine will take place eludes Rzeczpospolita. Searching for Ukraine's cultural identity is one of the most urgent tasks in the process of building an independent state. Defining itself today in new coordinates, Ukraine looks back to find productive models of coexistence with certain nations. It turned out that religion and church played an important role in the self-identification of Ukrainians, who were not only markers of Ukrainianness but also formed the latter. However, not all churches that prevailed in Ukraine were focused on the interests of the (...) Ukrainian people. The negative consequences for the development of Orthodoxy in Ukraine were the policy of Russification of the Russian autocracy, which concerned primarily the linguistic, religious and cultural spheres. These problems were not allowed to write until the early 1990's. Russian cultural influences were presented as brotherly aid, as Slavic solidarity in the fight against other Slavic brothers, including the Poles. Therefore, it is time to speak honestly and openly about those factors that hindered the full formation of the Ukrainian national consciousness, deprived it of a distinct identity, and led to a partial assimilation of the Ukrainian ethnic group. Today in Ukraine there is an acute problem of the spiritual alienation of a certain part of the younger generation from their people, their faith and traditions, which have developed over the centuries, from established moral principles, in particular, regarding personal self-determination in the social world. In turn, such confusion and disorientation in the social space leads to an aggravation of the relationship between the same outside world and the system of inner values ​​of the young man. Moreover, a hypertrophied (...) and distorted understanding of reality entails a number of problems that often take the form of a pronounced social evil. For example, today our country is one of the leading places in Europe for the spread of AIDS. According to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, every week, several dozen Ukrainians turn out to be HIV-positive when submitting appropriate tests. It is also hard to say about the spread of such social ills as drug addiction, drunkenness. (shrink)

Protestantism in the light of the conceptual foundations of diversification theory. Current article considers Protestantism from the perspective of the main principles of the theory of diversification, including a change and forms variability as a prerequisite for real exercise "held constant through change." It is shown that the preservation and transmission of religious, particularly Protestant, tradition is a complex process in which an important role is played by various factors shaping by the multiform etymologies.

The present paper is a continuation of the previous appearances by the author addressing the phenomenon of the cultural-symbolic world pictures as typologically founded in the “epoch-making” ontologies and culturally expressed versions of history. In their construction, philosophy is responsible for the love of wisdom, history – for the given in making the consciousness of being, culture – for the personal expression of human history. This article re-constructs the world picture of the Latin Christian Medieval Ages, adequate to the author’s (...) original theoretical constructs, with an emphasis on its ontological dimension proper. Section 1 deals with the European practice of interpreting the mentioned period as a distinct cultural-historical type, from Renaissance till the 20th century’s Human World. Concurrently, at the theoretical level, the paper addresses the very historical form of being is defined; philosophical tools to tell theory and history apart are offered; transformations of fact in the past are shown; distinguishing features of the knowledge relation. Section 2 deals with the basic components of cultural myth on the symbolic Divine World, and their representation in the philosophical practice of that period. Primarily, the very pathway of such philosophical “portraying” is sketched out: 1) the “epoch-making” interpretations of the absolute foundations of life of resp. ontologies → 2) ideals and values as defined by the latter, being components of an “epoch-making” ontological structure → 3) characteristic recording of the obtained “picture” in cultural reflections → 4) the “epoch-making” guides into knowledge and texts – realizers for the intent to irradiate knowledge. The paper also offers three symbolic worlds of the Latin Medieval Ages. Finally, under the distinctive Medieval “double-focus” view mode, and based on analysis of key texts of the period, seven twofold ontologically oriented characteristic features are offered as fundamental components of the then picture of the world. Secularization theory is one of those intellectual products that determine the understanding of religion, its status in society, and the changes that take place between faith and unbelief, between church and state, for quite some time. Constituted in the United States in the mid-twentieth century, this theory has found many followers both in America and in Europe, even in the USSR. Its validity and integrity, evidentiality and obviousness did not cause any doubt either to scholars or to religious and statesmen. (...) It was clear that society is liberated from the influence of religion and the church, is rapidly secularized, which will inevitably lead to the transformation of religion into a marginal phenomenon, and eventually - to its extinction. But the predictions that were made with unqualified certainty did not come true, as the development of the religious environment at the end of the XX and the beginning of the XXI century showed. Not only has religion not lost its significance for the modern man, but he is also actively returning to the public sphere. In line with such objective changes, secularization theory undergoes significant transformations, evolving from a monopoly that it has had for almost half a century, to a crisis, and eventually to its antipode, a theory of desecularization. Philosophical and anthropological explorations of the state of modern culture testify to its crisis nature, connected with a fundamental change in the civilizational type of development. In a society that is transformed from industrial to post-industrial, informational, and global, the whole mechanism of cultural formation undergoes dramatic changes. The exhaustiveness of the technological and technological path of human development, which has come from the times of the European Renaissance, and at the same time the need for a radical reformation of (...) the foundations of the further existence of the global society are becoming apparent. Lack of understanding of the real means of such reforming leads to a total disregard for the possibilities of the mind. And as a consequence, the current crisis of rationalism is a sign of the current socio-cultural situation. (shrink)

PhD in Religious Studies Pavlo Pavlenko draws attention of the readership to the next individual monograph of prof. Anatoliy Kolodnyi named “The Phenomenon of Religious Studies”. Below we published his review of this book.

The study contains the interpretation of F. Nietzsche's concept “Übermensch” as a program of modern human’s orientation within conditions of secularization. The “Übermensch” is presented as a form and a mode of secularized ethics. Such interpretation gave the methodological instruments to describe the main features of contemporary ideological and world view tendencies and their changes character, including such processes in Ukraine.

Purpose. The article is devoted to horror films as forms of anthropological crisis in mass culture, which generate specific meanings and are presented in ways of control over consumer society, as well as act as unconscious ideological mediators of multiculturalism and globalization. Theoretical basis. The main working tool for the analysis of horror films is the method of historical amplification, developed by C. G. Jung, as a basis for comparative analysis of symbolic interpretations of cultural realities and traditions of American (...) horror films. On this basis, the authors propose their own methodological strategy for the analysis of horror films, complementing the theoretical potential of Jungianism with methodological developments of Marxism and neo-Marxism, which can be called "Jung-Marxism". It is distinguished by the orientation and content of socio-cultural phenomena, the essence of which is considered in the context of the interaction of social and archetypal meanings of life of man and society, as well as allows to identify latent unconscious trends in the emergence and functioning of social institutions. With this approach, horror films are not only institutes of production and introduction of fear in consumer society, but also the biotic basis of management at all levels of social communication. Originality. Horror films have a significant impact on the consumer society on the basis of a special mythology, in which the manipulative and propaganda methods of formation and transmission of modern power are sublimated. And the emergence of the horror film genre in American and world cinema means abandoning the model of classical political power based on the sacralisation and rationalization of personal authority and physical coercion. The scientific reflection on the films of this genre allows us to understand the biotic mechanisms of manipulation of social space and the formation of the state of biopower as a new qualitative state of social control. Conclusions. The anthropological model of horror films is concentrated in the following maxim: fear consumes a man a man consumes fear, and the biopower consumes all the subjects of fear consumption, and all their socio-cultural context of communication. Therefore, horror films are a productive means of ideologue-propaganda infection, subsequent deformation and consumer substitution of the mental nucleus of other cultural traditions. (shrink)

Modern Ukraine, together with the countries of the Balkan Peninsula, belongs to a group of European countries that have their own indigenous Muslim population. Islam in Ukraine has more than a thousand years of history. The first Muslims who systematically lived or roamed the lands of present-day Ukraine were the steppes. Its carriers are the Volga and Crimean Tatars, representatives of the Caucasian-Biberian language group, small diasporic associations of other Turkic-speaking peoples, and some ethnic Ukrainians, Belarussians and Russians.

In this article the main stress is on the fact that symbol and myth are the means of the formation of personality and the realization of person’s spirituality in Christianity. It is also observed that sacred symbolism and art represent people’s attitude to God and provide psyche of the faithful with cathartic emotional processes.

The article is devoted to study of the modes of inheritance of cultural symbols. In particular, it is a research of perception in Christianity of preceding cultures’ archetypes. The study provides the analysis of semantic links between the symbols of the World Tree, the Vivifying Cross and the meaning of the Blessed Virgin image. The article shows how the pre-Christian symbols of the World Tree and the cross itself were merged and transformed in Christian theology, liturgy and iconography in the (...) image of Golgotha Cross. The cross acquires the features of a Cosmic Tree, which combines the lower and the upper worlds – the heaven and the earth, life and death. The symbol of the tree is often substituted by the image of a woman appearing in this case as a symbol of life and fertility and evokes the associations with the genealogical tree. Therefore, the connection between the World Tree and the Blessed Virgin is proved to be natural. On the basis of the historical sources the author analyzes the legends and evidences of the revelations and discoveries of the Blessed Mary’s icons on the trees of a certain kinds. The study explicates the symbolic meaning of those trees spread in a global world, in Slavic and Ukrainian cultural traditions. In particular, the research encloses the semantics of the following kinds of trees: fir tree, linden, pear tree, oak, willow, blackthorn. Every kind of those trees has a special symbolic meaning. The novelty of the research is that it for the first time proves the semantic connection of sacred meaning of miracle icons and of the certain kinds of trees. The study defines the limited range of those trees and, on the other hand, the kinds of other trees believed to be vile and thus never appeared in the legends about the discoveries of miracle icons. As a conclusion, the research proves the existence of the autochtonal tradition of correlation of the semantics of miracle icons of Our Lady with the certain kinds of trees in the result of synthesis of the ancient symbolism and Christianity. In every case, the symbolic meanings of trees had archaic origin and connection with the ancient cosmogonical concepts. Depending on the particular semantic nuance emphasized in the World Tree, the priority of a certain kind of tree determined. On the whole, the study demonstrates the importance of the symbols in forming of cultural identity and for understanding of interrelations of cultures at the deep semantic level. (shrink)

The second chapter explores the further development of Russia’s large-scale intrusion into the territory of Ukraine in 2014-2015. In the third section of the work, attention is paid to the peculiarities of a complex negotiation process aimed at finding ways to resolve the conflict in the Donbass. (...) The article is devoted thomistic philosophical anthropology. The basic topic of which is a structure of person being. The aspect of human existence is examined in the world of "persons" and "things".

It is common to confront the city with wild nature. Socrates used to urge philosophers to seek truth not in the fields and forests, but in the city. In the city the human culture becomes most prominent. However, the paradox of the city is that at some stage it becomes a hostile to human. History knows the facts of exodus of people from cities. Today, the phenomenon of downshifting is gaining popularity, as people leave cities in search of a simple (...) life. The dystopian visions of the city are typical for contemporary art. However, nowadays, urban population has been dramatically grown. At the same time, in the metropolitan cities, wild animals also find their own place, radically changing their behaviour. When moving to the city, people should be aware of their inseparability from its urban-wild history. The invasion of wildlife to the city enables people to rethink its concept, identifying the life-giving potential of the city and refuting its dystopian inevitability. Only under the condition of a radical rethinking of humans nature, which will change one’s attitude to the rest of the living world, it’s possible to overcome the civilizational challenges of the modern city. The Soviet ideology treated natural science as one of its cornerstones and provided the state support for philosophical studies of science. Their main aims were to prove its intellectual superiority and to demonstrate its scientific character. Do these studies have some positive results and resources for surviving in post-Soviet times? Мета статті полягає у дослідженні можливостей застосування перформативного підходу К. Вульфа для аналізу моди як перформативного простору. Проаналізовано теорію перформативів К. Вульфа, її ключові структурні компоненти, визначення простору. Обґрунтовано, що моду можна визначати як перформатив, передумови чого існують у деяких соціальних теоріях. Встановлено, що існування одягу, не створює дії, посилення активізації перформативної діяльності людини призводить до формування простору моди. Перформативний підхід постає новим напрямом дослідження моди, що дозволяє розробити нові грані та перспективи її розгляду.

In paper the boundaries of funniness in musical-dramatic art are researched. Musical performance goes out from the semiotic space of the original genre into a field of meanings and signs, which are unstabled, opened, containing and suggesting many interpretations, including ironic ones. It is argued in contemporary aesthetics, on the one hand, that the art cannot exist without a discourse interpreting it. On the other hand, there is a demand to avoid the interpretation, which at the same time legitimizes the (...) aesthetic effect and castrates an object of art. Provocation is used for solving the problems of observing the object of art in a new way and understanding of modern reality, and it’s not complete without irony and self-irony. Wit, irony, comicalness are transformed as fitting into the style of the absurd and deconstructing the border between the funny and serious. The purpose of such provocations is to introduce the viewer into a position of uncertainty and aesthetic shock. Such stupor inevitably orients the spectator to a meeting with an object of art and allows for a new understanding of oneself. In article bases of modern economic culture, a problem of values of modern economic culture in works of foreign and domestic philosophers, culturologists and sociologists are investigated; the found out values of modern economic culture. The research objective consists in consideration valuable orientations of the person in modern economic culture. Conclusions. Thus, values are one of base subsystems of the general structure of economic culture. Expressing subjective aspirations of the person, values define an orientation of activity of any person, motivating (...) a choice of this or that line of conduct in a concrete situation. For modern economic culture not peculiar traditional values, it is guided by individual, personal values, values which are focused on itself, major of which is work and riches. The economic culture naturally builds values in original hierarchy in which, in our opinion, as leading value value of work acts. The riches which understand as profit, are latent value which animates work, add to work the pragmatical basis and sense. Also it is necessary to notice that the modern economic culture does not promote formation of the all-round education, comprehensively developed person. Values of modern economic culture demand as much as possible effective work that leads to high professionalism of work, on the one hand, and a narrow orientation from another that in turn conducts the person to unilateral development, and it in our opinion is a negative tendency of a modern society. Encouragement with modern economic culture of demonstrative and maximum consumption of a product, conducts on the one hand to as much as possible fast development, basically, the exact science, to growth of industrial potential, product reduction in price, with another to as much as possible fast exhaustion of natural resources and accompanying, to this phenomenon, problems which also are a negative tendency. Статтю присвячено перелікові книг, заборонених для доступу у бібліотеці колегіуму Товариства Ісуса у Перемишлі. Ідентифікацію та аналіз цієї літератури здійснено на основі рукописного інвентаря бібліотеки, що його уклав у 1774 р., після ліквідації Товариства Ісуса, Станіслав Хмельовський. Загальна кількість книг Перемишльської бібліотеки охоплювала 6985 позицій, а до групи «haereteci prohibiti» було внесено 137 видань, з яких вдалося ідентифікувати 102. У статті ці праці умовно поділено на п’ять підгруп: 1) твори ренесансних гуманістів, 2) протестантські автори, 3) православні автори, 4) книги з (...) окультизму, магії та демонології, 5) «книги таємниць». До першої підгрупи увійшли твори Еразма Ротердамського та Ніколо Мак’явелі, до другої — праці протестантських мислителів (Ян Гус, Мартін Лютер, Філіп Меланхтон, Жан Кальвін, Теодор Беза, Ян Крель та інші), до третьої — трактати Лазаря Барановича та Йоаникія Ґалятовського, до четвертої — книжки Мартіна Дельріо, Бартоломео Спіни, Ніколя Ремі та ін., до п’ятої — твори Джамбатісти делла Порта та Йогана Якоба Веккера. Реконструкція переліку заборонених книг у бібліотеці Перемишльського колегіуму дає змогу детальніше пізнати інтелектуальні запити духовенства, а також дослідити, які тексти єзуїти могли використовувати для полеміки з іновірцями.
