  1. Notes on polynomially bounded arithmetic.Domenico Zambella - 1996 - Journal of Symbolic Logic 61 (3):942-966.
We characterize the collapse of Buss' bounded arithmetic in terms of the provable collapse of the polynomial time hierarchy. We include also some general model-theoretical investigations on fragments of bounded arithmetic.

  • Uniform Density in Lindenbaum Algebras.V. Yu Shavrukov & Albert Visser - 2014 - Notre Dame Journal of Formal Logic 55 (4):569-582.
In this paper we prove that the preordering $\lesssim $ of provable implication over any recursively enumerable theory $T$ containing a modicum of arithmetic is uniformly dense. This means that we can find a recursive extensional density function $F$ for $\lesssim $. A recursive function $F$ is a density function if it computes, for $A$ and $B$ with $A\lnsim B$, an element $C$ such that $A\lnsim C\lnsim B$. The function is extensional if it preserves $T$-provable equivalence. Secondly, we prove a (...)

In this paper I give a characterization of the closed fragment of the provability logic of $I \triangle_0 + \mathrm{EXP}$ with a propositional constant for $\mathrm{EXP}$. In three appendices many details on arithmetization are provided.

  • Faith & falsity.Albert Visser - 2004 - Annals of Pure and Applied Logic 131 (1-3):103-131.
A theory T is trustworthy iff, whenever a theory U is interpretable in T, then it is faithfully interpretable. In this paper we give a characterization of trustworthiness. We provide a simple proof of Friedman’s Theorem that finitely axiomatized, sequential, consistent theories are trustworthy. We provide an example of a theory whose schematic predicate logic is complete Π20.

  • Arithmetical Completeness Theorem for Modal Logic $$mathsf{}$$.Taishi Kurahashi - 2018 - Studia Logica 106 (2):219-235.
We prove that for any recursively axiomatized consistent extension T of Peano Arithmetic, there exists a \ provability predicate of T whose provability logic is precisely the modal logic \. For this purpose, we introduce a new bimodal logic \, and prove the Kripke completeness theorem and the uniform arithmetical completeness theorem for \.

  • On the algebraization of a Feferman's predicate.Franco Montagna - 1978 - Studia Logica 37 (3):221 - 236.
This paper is devoted to the algebraization of an arithmetical predicate introduced by S. Feferman. To this purpose we investigate the equational class of Boolean algebras enriched with an operation (g=rtail), which translates such predicate, and an operation τ, which translates the usual predicate Theor. We deduce from the identities of this equational class some properties of (g=rtail) and some ties between (g=rtail) and τ; among these properties, let us point out a fixed-point theorem for a sufficiently large class of (...)

In this paper we study local induction w.r.t. Σ1‐formulas over the weak arithmetic. The local induction scheme, which was introduced in, says roughly this: for any virtual class that is progressive, i.e., is closed under zero and successor, and for any non‐empty virtual class that is definable by a Σ1‐formula without parameters, the intersection of and is non‐empty. In other words, we have, for all Σ1‐sentences S, that S implies, whenever is progressive. Since, in the weak context, we have (at (...)
