In this article, we present the outcome of our first experiment with Chatbase, a chatbot built on chatGPT’s functioning model(s). Our idea is to try instructing Chatbase to perform a reading, digesting, and summarizing task for a specifically formatted academic document.

As we enter the second year of operation, let’s look forward to making better and more meaningful achievements together, hoping new members will join our happy home.

We aim to support researchers in social sciences and humanities in conducting and publishing their studies on a global scale, especially Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and those in low-resource settings. For that purpose, AISDL created the Science Portal for the Serendipity-Mindsponge-3D (SM3D) Knowledge Management Theory.

Acknowledging that many members of the SM3D Portal need reference documents related to Bayesian Mindsponge Framework (BMF) analytics to conduct research projects effectively, we present the essential materials and most up-to-date studies employing the method in this post. By summarizing all the publications and preprints associated with BMF analytics, we also aim to help researchers reduce the time and effort for information seeking, enhance proactive self-learning, and facilitate knowledge exchange and community dialogue through transparency.

This number of views exceeded the total views of the Swedish science advice paper in HSSComms, one of very few extremely well-read published research.

It is noteworthy that Chatbase has the capability to identify notable authors writing about the topic, including the co-founders of Retraction Watch, Ivan Oransky and Adam Marcus.

It is with great pleasure to inform the research community that our “near-suicide phenomenon” (NS) paper went past the new milestone of 300 thousand reads on June 15, 2023.

The AISDL Team is happy to inform the research community that the “near-suicide phenomenon” (NS) paper passed the milestone of 400 thousand reads on July 28, 2023. The day was one and a half months after the study reached the 300-thousand-read milestone on June 15, 2023. The previous dates are April 7 (100K) and May 1 (200K).

This conceptual paper represents my first attempt to tackle a difficult research problem (at least for me), employing the mindsponge concept facilitated by the BMF analytical approach. These ‘weapons’–as we at AISDL usually call them–have shown usefulness and capabilities to shed light on numerous challenging research problems in social sciences and humanities.

This month, the AISDL Team was glad to see its continuing effort to raise the voice for conserving wildlife appearing in Pacific Conservation Biology (published by CSIRO/the Australian Academy of Science). The article stipulates the need for weaving humane values with scientific information, leveraging the sociocultural power to harmonize humans with nature. The article articulates the coauthors’ idea of building a funding source to contribute to the nature conservation cause by investing in some listed stocks. Technically, stocks we intend (...) to invest in must possess some key features of (i) having significant growth potential, (ii) containing little environmental risk of potential moral-practical gaps in their CSR missions, and (iii) showing a certain degree of “relevance” with AISDL’s fundamentals. Well, well, well! Hold onto your hats, folks, because we’ve got some thrilling news from the world of computer downloads! In the wacky world of statistics and software, where numbers have all the fun, here’s a thing: In September 2023, the number of downloads for the bayesvl program by AISDL suddenly increased to 241! But there’s more to the sheer number; it’s 24.9% higher than the previous month’s total of 193. And in case you’re wondering, 241 is nearly as (...) cool as the 246 we saw back in May 2023, when the number started dwindling. It’s like déjà vu. (shrink)

Recently, we have been trying to find out how to innovate our research method. For an analytical approach like BMF, it is even more difficult as BMF is the product of a many-year process of deliberate designing and optimizing. Fortunately, such innovation has appeared through the fictional details of The Kingfisher Story Collection, which gave birth to a subsequent series of innovations in working cultures, philosophies, principles, theories, methodology, and practices of the AISDL team. However, one important question remained: (...) What is the true meaning of Kingfisher? Why do we have so deep a connection to it? At first, we thought the Collection’s embedded humor and freedom of thought were the reasons. However, we have found the true answer today: its natural bond with the environment, the origin of human life. (shrink)

Trang nghiên cứu kinh tế và chính sách nổi tiếng thế giới Project Syndicate đã đăng bài Op Ed của tác giả Hong-Kong Nguyen [1] với tiêu điểm là nghiên cứu COVID-19 mới xuất bản trên Sustainability (doi:10.3390/su12072931 [2]) của Trung tâm ISR, Phenikaa University, sử dụng dữ liệu của A.I. for Social Data Lab (AISDL).

Trong lượt cập nhật gần nhất, dữ liệu CRAN cho biết, trong tháng 9-2023, tổng số lượt downloads của chương trình bayesvl của AISDL (chạy trên R và Stan [1]) đạt 241, tăng +24,9% so với tháng trước (193), và tương đương thống kê của tháng 5-2023 (246).

Accomplishing the sustainable development goal is challenging and requires the joint effort of the whole community, especially when humans are approaching the climate tipping point [1]. To contribute to promoting sustainable development, the AISDL Team has aggregated reliable and open-access scientific journals about environmental issues here as sources of knowledge for any interested researchers.

Committing to contribute to promoting the 11th progressive cultural element – environmental-healing value – and building the eco-surplus culture for sustainable development, the AISDL Team (represented by Drs. Minh-Hoang Nguyen and Quan-Hoang Vuong) has collaborated with Discover Sustainability to launch “Environmental Sustainability Needs Humanities” Topical Collection. In contributing to the generation of knowledge that aids the social transitions toward an eco-surplus utopia, the Topical Collection welcomes various types of articles across disciplines, including Research, Reviews, Perspectives, Comments, Brief Communications, Case (...) Studies, Registered Reports, and Data Notes that are related but not limited to these issues: - Socio-cultural and economic issues that help mitigate and adapt to climate change and prevent biodiversity loss - Socio-cultural and economic issues that support the development and implementation of nature-based solutions and artificial technologies for achieving environmental sustainability - Factors that help restore the connection between nature and humans, such as science, art, literature, and lived experiences - The psychology towards climate change, biodiversity loss, social transition, and technological transformation - The roles of creativity, serendipity, and knowledge management in sustainability transformation - Sustainable financing mechanism for climate change mitigation and adaptation as well as biodiversity conservation - The roles of urban and rural humans in addressing climate change and biodiversity loss - Global agreement, national commitments, and local actions for addressing climate change and biodiversity loss. In the first month of 2024, there was a significant increase in the number of downloads for the Bayesian stats / MCMC computing program, bayesvl, developed by AISDL running on R and Stan. The following RDocumentation (CRAN) graph illustrates the noticeable leap in data for January 2024.

The rediscovery of the silver-backed chevrotain, an endemic species to Vietnam, in 2019, after almost 30 years of being lost to science, is a remarkable outcome for the global conservation agenda. However, along with the happiness, there is a tremendous concern for the conservation of the species as eating wildmeat, including chevrotain, is deeply rooted in the socio-cultural values of Vietnamese. Meanwhile, conservation plans face multiple obstacles since the species has not been listed in the list of endangered, precious, and (...) rare wildlife prioritized for protection and is still classified by the IUCN as lacking data. Given the limited effectiveness of conservation measures, this essay discusses the determining roles of local actions, community cooperation, and humanistic values oriented toward eco-surplus culture in addressing the global biodiversity conservation agenda, specifically the conservation of the silver-backed chevrotain. Local actions and community cooperation for conservation can be actualized to achieve conservation goals through citizen and community sciences, integration of modern technologies (e.g., Internet, crowdfunding platforms, social media, AI, etc.), and the bonding capability of humanistic values that prioritize environmental healing. Communicating conservation information to the community, especially the children, has to stimulate their thinking and imagination about nature, develop their curiosity and desire to protect wildlife, and eventually build eco-surplus core values in their mindsets. To successfully awaken the humanistic values within the community and incorporate them into conservation endeavors, the conservation message with the name “mouse-deer”, “chevrotain”, or scientific name (Tragulus versicolor) is largely insufficient as they show an unfamiliar feeling. Therefore, we suggest calling the mouse-deer “cheo cheo”, a local name that can create familiarity and closeness, awaken the environmental conscience and humanistic values, and stimulate thinking and imagination. All these factors are essential for conservationists, scientists, and the government to support the community in building the eco-surplus culture. (shrink)

Humankind is currently confronted with a critical challenge that determines its very existence, not only on an individual, racial, or national level but as a whole species: the fight against climate change and environmental degradation. To win this battle, humanity needs innovations and non-linear thinking. Nature has long been a substantial information source for unthinkable discoveries that save human lives. The paper suggests that by understanding the nature, emergence, and mechanism of serendipity, the survival skill of humans, humanity can capitalize (...) on it to learn from nature and generate nature-based innovations that can address the climate and environmental degradation crises. In the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) proliferation, AI will be a vital tool providing navigational and useful information to leverage the power of serendipity in climate and sustainability science. However, an eco-surplus culture that incorporates core values pertaining to nature and sees environmental sustainability as the conscience of the times needs to be built to direct and control the immense power of AI-leveraged serendipity.
