Today marks the 7th anniversary of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Social Research (ISR), at Phenikaa University. ISR has for seven years now the place where the co-founders of this portal have been working and producing publications. A special event occurs now as the Current Conservation magazine publishes a new writing piece by our member, Dr Minh-Hoang Nguyen.

It is reasonable to say that the team had efficiently managed its limited resources to overcome the very challenging months before its fifth anniversary (Aug. 1, 2022).

Như thế, hôm nay chính là ngày đầu tiên bước sang tuổi lên 7 của ISR, mặc dù nếu đếm năm, thì đã sang năm thứ 7 kể từ 1-1-2023 rồi.

Bài mới xuất bản vào ngày 19-5-2020 với tác giả liên lạc là NCS Nguyễn Minh Hoàng, cán bộ nghiên cứu của Trung tâm ISR, trình bày tiếp cận thống kê Bayesian cho việc nghiên cứu dữ liệu khoa học xã hội. Đây là kết quả của định hướng Nhóm nghiên cứu SDAG được nêu rõ ngay từ ngày 18-5-2019.

Đúng 7 năm trước, quyết định thành lập Trung tâm ISR được ký và gửi đến tôi, người có nhiệm vụ bắt tay vào thiết kế và phát triển ISR, lúc đó còn gọi là ĐH Thành Tây, cho tới khi đổi tên thành ĐH Phenikaa, ISR vẫn giữ nguyên tên như cách đặt ban đầu.

COVID-19 bùng phát lần 2 đang gây lo lắng ở Việt Nam. Ảnh hưởng tiêu cực của dịch bệnh có thể cảm nhận được rất rõ trong công việc. Ngoài cản trở và đình trệ với sản xuất, công việc biên tập bình duyệt cũng bị tồn đọng, dẫn đến chờ đợi kéo dài. Tỷ lệ từ chối cũng có khuynh hướng tăng vọt.

Trang nghiên cứu kinh tế và chính sách nổi tiếng thế giới Project Syndicate đã đăng bài Op Ed của tác giả Hong-Kong Nguyen [1] với tiêu điểm là nghiên cứu COVID-19 mới xuất bản trên Sustainability (doi:10.3390/su12072931 [2]) của Trung tâm ISR, Phenikaa University, sử dụng dữ liệu của A.I. for Social Data Lab (AISDL).

Tạp chí Investigación y Ciencia (Nº 530), số ra tháng 11-2020, đã xuất bản bài “¿Cómo retractarse en ciencia?” của Trung tâm ISR. Đây là tạp chí tiếng Tây Ban Nha do Prensa Científica (Barcelona) phát hành.

ISR Phenikaa (05-03-2021) — 文化加算性は２０１８年１２月Palgrave Communications 学術誌に掲載された研究論文に定義された概念である。Palgrave Communications (ISSN 2662-9992) はNatureの唯一の人文社会の科学誌であり、２０２０年７月から名前がHumanities & Social Sciences Communicationsに変更された。.

Some Anglophone legal theorists look to analytic philosophy for core presuppositions. For example, the epistemological theories of Ludwig Wittgenstein and Willard Quine shape the theories of Dennis Patterson and Brian Leiter, respectively. These epistemologies are anti-foundational since they reject the kind of certain grounding that is exemplified in Cartesian philosophy. And, they are coherentist in that they seek to legitimate truth-claims by reference to entire linguistic systems. While these theories are insightful, the current context of information and communication technologies (ICT) (...) has created new informational concepts and issues. As a result, the analytic epistemologies are increasingly challenged by alternative perspectives. One such alternative is Structural Realism (SR), which is influential among the natural sciences, and especially physics. “Informational Structural Realism,” (ISR) is a variant of SR that was introduced by Luciano Floridi. Unlike the coherentist theories, ISR promotes examination of the connections among types of information and informational structures. It is an important shift for legal theory today, since the challenges that the ICT presents have to do with pattern recognition across vast domains of diverse data. An informational jurisprudence is now required to understand the issues emerging from the ICT. (shrink)

Sau 14 tháng bền bỉ, phương pháp đổi mới việc rà soát tổng quan lý thuyết xã hội của ISR, dựa trên dữ liệu metadata có cấu trúc, đã được xuất bản bởi tạp chí MethodsX (Elsevier Q2 SCImago | ISI Web of Science). Bài có tiêu đề: “Making social sciences more scientific” [1].

Mới đây, chương trình máy tính ‘bayesvl’ chạy trên môi trường R do TS. Vương Quân Hoàng và kĩ sư Lã Việt Phương (Trung tâm Nghiên cứu Xã hội Liên ngành ISR, Đại học Phenikaa) thiết kế và phát triển chính thức được ra mắt trên CRAN - hệ thống thư viện chuẩn của R...

Objective: In the treatment of coronary artery disease, stent implantation has become the standard treatment, but development of in-stent restenosis (ISR) limits the benefit of this treatment modality. -/- Methods: Based on the connection between oxidative stress and thiol/disulphate and NRF2, it was intended to measure NRF2 and thiol/disulphate levels. -/- Results: Coronary angiography images of 76 stable angina pectoris patients were evaluated. Of the 51 patients with a history drug eluting stent implantation, we determined 25 patients with ISR (Group (...) 1) and 26 patients without ISR (Group 2). Twenty-five patients with normal coronary arteries were included in the study as control group (Group 3). NRF2 level was found to be significantly higher in patients who did not develop ISR (p=0.01). Total thiol was significantly higher in group 3 (738.76 micromole/L) compared to group 1 (626.11 micromole/L) and group 2 (630.27 micromole/L) (p=0.014). Native thiol was also significantly higher in group 3 (570.53 micromole/L) compared to group 1 (483.91 micromole/L) and group 2 (501 micromole/L) (p=0.006). -/- Conclusion: We think that total and native thiol levels might be useful as an indicator of oxidative stress in early diagnosis of coronary artery disease, and the NRF2 level can be used in predicting patients who might develop coronary ISR. They are research studies on the intersection of several fields in the humanities and social sciences, namely social anthropology, linguistics, folkloristics, applied Bayesian statistics, and cultural studies (see the references). All these three studies have been conducted by the Hanoi-based ISR research team at Phenikaa University, Ha Dong district, Hanoi, Vietnam.

Đúng dịp Bộ trưởng Quốc phòng Hoa Kỳ Lloyd Austin có chuyến thăm cấp cao tại Việt Nam, các cán bộ nghiên cứu của Trung tâm ISR cũng đã có bài báo nghiên cứu được xuất bản trên tập san Asia Policy về chủ đề Công ước Biển UNCLOS 1982.

Bài điểm thông tin khoa học về các tác động của COVID-19 tới thế giới xuất bản học thuật. Đăng trên EASE Vietnam SciComm System ngày 18-03-2020. Sau đó được website của Trung tâm ISR, Phenikaa University đăng lại ngày 25-03-2020.

Ngày 8-6 vừa qua, tạp chí Nature danh tiếng, 151 tuổi, một trong số rất ít ngọn hải đăng của khoa học nhân loại đã xuất bản bài của TS. Vương Quân Hoàng, Trung tâm ISR (trường Đại học Phenikaa, Hà Nội).

This article gives a short presentation of reflexive imperativism, the intentionalist theory of valence I developed with Max Khan Hayward. The theory says that mental states have valence in virtue of having reflexive imperative content. More precisely, mental states have positive valence (i.e., feel good) in virtue of issuing the command "More of me!", and they have negative valence (i.e., feel bad) in virtue of issuing the command "Less of me!" The article summarises the main arguments in favour of reflexive (...) imperativism and against other intentionalist treatments of valence. (shrink)

This paper summarizes a theory of emotions as metarepresentational states of mind (for more detail, see Reisenzein, 1998). The basic idea of the theory is that at least a core set of human emotions including surprise are nonconceptual products of hardwired, metarepresentational mechanisms whose main function is to subserve the monitoring and updating of the two basic forms of propositional representations, beliefs and desires.
