Peran dunia pendidikan menjadi penting dalam membangun peradaban bangsa yang didasarkan atas jati diri dan karakter bangsa. Tema Hari Pendidikan Nasional Tahun 2012 ini adalah “Bangkitnya Generasi Emas Indonesia”. Tema ini sejalan dengan hakikat pendidikan yang telah ditekankan oleh Bapak Pendidikan Nasional yaitu Ki Hajar Dewantoro. Melalui pembangunan karakter bangsa, diharapkan dapat menciptakan manusia Indonesia yang unggul. Dalam penelitian ini, mengembangkan 6 (enam) nilai karakteristik yang wajib tertanam pada setiap diri mahasiswa. Karakteristik tersebut ditanamkan melalui proses (...) perkuliahan yang diselenggarakan selama 1 semester pada Mata Kuliah Matematika 1 di Jurusan PGMI Fakultas Tarbiyah Tahun Pelajaran 2011-2012. Pada mata kuliah ini, pendidikan karakter didekati melalui pemecahan masalah, yang merupakan bagian penting yang harus diajarkan kepada peserta didik. Pendekatan yang dilakukan adalah dengan metode inkulkasi (penanaman), yang ditempuh dengan memperhatikan perbedaan pada masing-masing peserta didik. Di sinilah penggolongan tipe kepribadian akan bermanfaat untuk menghargai perbedaan, sehingga bermanfaat bagi penunjang keberhasilan pembelajaran. Hasil yang diharapkan dari pembelajaran ini adalah peserta didik mampu memecahkan masalah dalam kehidupannya, dengan didasari oleh nilai yang sekaligus akan dapat mendukung pembangunan karakternya, sehingga pada akhirnya pendidikan karakter dapat tertanam. This article discusses Christian Education based on national character insight. PAK is one of the pillars of character education. Character education will be realized if embedded in the spirit of insight of nationality in the students, therefore PAK is one of the supporting elements of the character of the protege. Through the design of the PAK material nationality students are taught that nationalistic deeds are evidence of faith as in the Bible.

Salah satu persoalan yang muncul dalam pendidikan di Indonesia adalah masalah kurikulum yang merupakan kebijakan pemerintah. Kurikulum yang diberlakukan di Indonesia, khususnya pada masa Orde Baru, dipandang oleh sebagian orang memiliki kepentingan politik dan terlalu sentralistik (terpusat). Melihat keadaan dan situasi pendidikan Indonesia yang demikian, ada harapan yang ditumbuhkan dengan munculnya tokoh Y.B. Mangunwijaya yang memiliki perhatian terhadap pendidikan khususnya pada anak miskin. Menurut Mangunwijaya, pola pendidikan Barat yang dibawa oleh para penjajah Belanda telah menggeser pola (...) pendidikan tradisional Jawa yang hanya menempatkan anak dalam posisi sekunder menjadi menghargai anak sebagai individu yang merdeka. Tetapi kemudian pada era Orde Baru, pemerintahan kembali mematikan kebebasan dan kreativitas anak dengan sistem pendidikan yang hanya menyuburkan kepawangan dan mental inggih ndoro pada guru dan anak-anak. Y.B. Mangunwijaya memiliki banyak konsep tentang pendidikan. Beberapa di antaranya adalah Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Rakyat Semesta (P dan K Rata), Masyarakat Belajar (MB), Belajar Seumur Hidup (BUH), dan Kita Saling Belajar dan Mengajar, yang kesemuanya bersinggungan dengan filsafat pedagogi kritis. Kontribusi filsafat pendidikan Y.B. Mangunwijaya adalah pembangunan Sekolah Dasar Eksperimental Kanisius Mangunan yang dijalankan menggunakan konsep pemikirannya terhadap pendidikan, dibantu oleh Dinamika Edukasi Dasar (DED) sebagai bentuk pembaharuan pendidikan. Dasar yang paling penting dalam pendidikan menurut Ki Hajar Dewantara adalah adanya persamaan persepsi antara penegak atau pemimpin pendidikan tentang arti “mendidik” itu sendiri. Ki Hadjar Dewantara mengatakan bahwa; Pendidikan ialah usaha kebudayaan yang bermaksud memberi bimbingan dalam hidup tumbuhnya jiwa raga anak agar dalam kodrat pribadinya serta pengaruh lingkunganannya, mereka memperoleh kemajuan lahir batin menuju ke arah adab kemanusiaan Dari definisi pendidikan tersebut terdapat dua kalimat kunci yaitu; „tumbuhnya jiwa raga anak‟ dan „ kemajuan anak (...) lahir-batin‟. Dasar kontinuitas berarti bahwa, Dengan perkembangan dan kemajuan kebudayaan, garis hidup bangsa terus menerima pengaruh nilai-nilai baru, garis kemajuan suatu bangsa ditarik terus. Kemajuan suatu bangsa ialah lanjutan dari garis hidup asalnya, yang ditarik terus dengan menerima nilai-nilai baru dari perkembangan sendiri maupun dari luar. Dasar Konsentris Dasar konsentris berarti bahwa dalam mengembangkan kebudayaan harus bersikap terbuka, namun kritis dan selektif terhadap pengaruh kebudayaan di sekitar kita. Hanya unsur-unsur yang dapat memperkaya dan mempertinggi mutu kebudayaan saja yang dapat diambil dan diterima, setelah dicerna dan disesuaikan dengan kepribadian bangsa. c. Dasar Konvergensi Dasar konvergensi mempunyai arti bahwa dalam membina karakter bangsa, bersamasama bangsa lain diusahakan terbinanya karakter dunia sebagai kebudayaan kesatuan umat sedunia (konvergen), tanpa mengorbankan kepribadian atau identitas bangsa masing-masing. Dengan demikian maka pengaruh terhadap kebudayaan yang masuk, harus bersikap terbuka, disertai sikap selektif sehingga tidak menghilangkan identitas sendiri. The sample research nonprobability sampling using purposive sampling technique. Experiments in which the class is used as the Class A total of 39 students and the class is a class B control as many as 33 students. Results of research dianataranya that the student response to the application of learning models planting educational values ​​Ki Hadjar Dewantara is quite good. Students learning attitude was quite good with a big achievement average score of 64.41. Effect of application of learning models planting educational values ​​Ki Hadjar Dewantara attitude towards learning in mathematics education majors and significant effect on average there are differences in learning outcomes experimental class is higher than population control class learning outcomes. Hampir dalam setiap bidang, setidaknya para pembuat kebijakan berusaha semaksimal mungkin mengamankan masyarakat dan negara dari Pandemi COVID-19 yang sedang berlangsung. Kebijakan mengenai aktivitas atau kegiatan yang tidak begitu penting diperintahkan untuk dilakukan secara daring. Salah satunya, dalam bidang pendidikan. Tidak ada lagi proses belajar-mengajar konvensional, duduk di ruang kelas dan mendengarkan dosen/guru menjelaskan. Kini pelajar/mahasiswa/guru/dosen dapat duduk di rumah masing-masing untuk melakukan proses transfer of knowledge. Namun, kenyataan tidak berjalan selancar seperti apa yang diharapkan dalam kebijakan. Proses belajar-mengajar (...) tidak dapat diubah dalam waktu yang singkat. Banyak dilema-dilema dan problema sistematik-struktural di dalam dan di luar pendidikan itu sendiri. Critical analysis is undertakennot to imply that critical pedagogy as formulated by Giroux is a wrong conceptbut this paper aims to recover the fragility and refining that has not been perfect through the values of the divine pedagogy of shalom. Critical pedagogy and shalom pedagogy struggle to question and challenge the mindset and lifestyle underlying the pedagogy of neoliberal that emphasisses market fundamentalism (...) and ultimately create oppression, social injustice and revokedemocracy. Based on this orientation, pedagogy of shalomis introduced to reinforce the foundations and basic theories of critical pedagogy so it doesnnot merely align to activism, withoutreconciliation and to avoid arrogant of social movements and the criticism to power but without theestablishmentof love. The main objective is to achieve social and political changes to thebetter so that public can live injust, free, prosperous and equitablesociety.This article further seeks possibility to apply the concept of the pedagogy of shalom in the context of Christian education in Indonesia. This paper aims to understand the Pragmatism way of thinking in the practice of education. As a case study, Riri Reza's Laskar Pelangi is used to find out how Pragmatism practices in education in Indonesia. Data yang terkumpul kemudian diperiksa validitasnya melalui teknik triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi teori. Selanjutnya data dianalsis dengan menggunakan analisis interaktif yang terdiri dari tiga komponen yaitu: reduksi data, sajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan/verifikasi. -/- Setelah melalui tahapan diatas maka ditemukan bahwa proses terbentuknya pemahaman ideologi mahasiswa Gorontalo abad XX khsusnya pada tahun 1990-2001, dibentuk oleh dua faktor yaitu: faktor pengetahuan dan faktor masalah sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Flipped Classroom terhadap kemampuan konsep matematis siswa kelas 2 SD di Taman Pendidikan Islam Medan. Dalam model pembelajaran ini, siswa memperoleh pemahaman awal materi di rumah sebelum sesi kelas, diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterlibatan siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasi eksperimen dengan kelompok kontrol dan kelompok eksperimen. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes pemahaman konsep matematis sebelum dan setelah penerapan model pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian Pertama, sebelum model pembelajaran Flipped Classroom pada kelas (...) kontrol diperoleh dengan nilai rata-rata 7,26 dengan nilai terendah 5, dan nilai tertinggi 9, modusnya 8, dan mediannya 8. Kemudian menggunakan model kelompok eksperimen diperoleh dengan nilai rata-rata 8,11 dengan nilai terendah 5 dan nilai tertinggi 12, modusnya 8, mediannya 8, dan simpangan baku 1,761. Kedua, Penggunaan model pembelajaran Flipped Classroom terhadap perkembangan kognitif anak usia 5-6 tahun diperoleh dengan nilai rata-rata 17,53 dengan nilai terendah 15 dan nilai tertinggi 20, modusnya 18 dan mediannya 18. Jadi, perkembangan kemampuan konsep matematis siswa kelas 2 SD di Taman Pendidikan Islam Medan menggunakan model pembelajaran Flipped Classroom sudah meningkat secara optimal, Kedua terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran Flipped Classroom terhadap kemampuan konsep matematis siswa kelas 2 SD di Taman Pendidikan Islam Medan sebesar 0,05 didapat ttabel pada a diperoleh nilai thitung = 24.8969 dengan taraf dt 17 diperoleh nilai ttabel = 2,10982. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penggunaan media sosial dikalangan mahasiswa selama pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif. Jenis penelitian kuantitatif. Lokasi Penelitian di Universitas Mataram. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei 2020. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Universitas Mataram. Pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik random sampling. Sampel yang terpilih sebagai responden penelitian terdiri dari mahasiswa di Program studi Pendidikan Sosiologi dan Program studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket. Pengumpulan data menggunakan survei. (...) Analisis data menggunakan teknik statistik deskriptif. Penelitian diawali dengan penentuan topik, pembuatan instrumen, pengumpulan data, tabulasi data, penyajian data, analisis data dan pengambilan kesimpulan. Masalah utama dalam penelitian ini antara lain: bagaimana mahasiswa menggunakan media sosial di tengah pandemi Covid-19, informasi apa saja yang paling banyak ditemukan, bagaimana mahasiswa menyikapi teror informasi dan komedi parodi, serta media sosial apa yang sering digunakan untuk mengakses informasi Covid-19. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa dalam menggunakan media sosial cukup bijak. Mahasiswa menggunakan media sosial untuk mengakses dan menyebarkan informasi yang benar dan bernilai edukasi. Sikap mahasiswa terhadap teror informasi adalah tidak mudah menyebarkan informasi sebelum diketahui kebenarannya serta tidak ikut-ikutan membuat konten yang berisi berita hoax. (shrink)

Twenty-one units of school E-books subjecting in Arts and Culture in total has been released nationwide, which must be consented by Indonesia’s Body of National Standard of Education (Badan Standar Nasional Pendidikan) – the appointed organization to certify Indonesia’s educational features. The graphic instruments applied on cover designs, of which emphasis is merely on technical aspects, requires further examination. Such condition becomes the basis of this study in order to identify, describe and illustrate the implementation of cover designing school (...) E-books subjecting in Arts and Culture through: (1) proficient instructional media’s perspective, (2) visual communication design’s perspective, (3) visual semiotics’ perspective, and (4) end users’ perspective. Additionally, it also qualifies the cover designs. Pertaining qualitative research toward the entire 21 school E-books subjecting in Arts and Culture, the data gathering process involves three sets of instrument:comprehensive reading on visual marks and their relevance with the books’ concepts as cited by C.S. Peirce, corroborative approach toward specialists on both instructional media and visual communication designs, and collective line on end users’ responds. Conclusively, it is found out that: (1) instructional media consultants agree on the significance of all covers, while visual communication designers pronounce that twelve of them are worth it, (2) all covers meet the books’ concepts’ relevance semiotically, (3) students as end-users have positive responds toward all covers, and (4) 12 out of 21 sets of cover design qualify after fulfilling all criteria obliged by this study. Therefore, it recommends: (1) optimal application of visual marks in cover designing process by utilizing e-book features, (2) mature procedure in selecting cover designer(s) to better represent the concept of each book, and (3) intensification on selecting E-book cover designs. The Body of National Standard of Education needs to assess not only technical instruments applied, but also multimedia studies and visual communication designing theories. Objectives: The study determined the competencies of teachers and performance of learners in 2017-2018 National Achievement Test. It identified the influence of teachers’ competencies on performance of learners. Methods: It employed descriptive-correlational and explanatory designs and it involved three divisions in Northern Mindanao region, Philippines. Findings: The Grade 10 and 6 teachers have possessed very satisfactory competencies across areas, while the Grade 10 and Grade 6 learners had a low mastery and very low mastery, respectively. Furthermore, there was no significant (...) relationship between the competencies of teachers and the performance of learners, while their competencies did not significantly influence the performance of learners. Conclusion: Teachers were deemed competent in all areas and learners had not acquired most of the competency standards of the curricula. Hence, no matter how competent teachers are, this would not contribute significantly to improving the performance of learners in the National Achievement Test. Thus, competencies of teachers cannot determine the performance of learners. (shrink)

Gamification in education offers an innovative way of learning. However, some studies claim that, while it helps raise students’ motivation, the kind of motivation is extrinsic and, so, intrinsic motivation declines with time. The researchers used the descriptive research design to describe the STEM students’ intrinsic motivation along with the utilization of game elements in teaching genetics through a learning management system. The researchers collected quantitative data using the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory, which were analyzed through descriptive statistics and complemented with (...) qualitative data from the students’ journals and interviews. Overall, the students agreed (M = 5.38, SD = 1.20) that gamification, despite being characterized as extrinsically motivating, had intrinsically motivated them. Its proper implementation helps students adapt to and overcome unfavorable behaviors towards competitiveness and emphasizes the role of teachers in facilitating learning. Time constraints, peer pressure, and distractions were noted; hence, more research is needed to address these challenges and determine the long-term effects of gamification. (shrink)

The urgent call by UNESCO to scale up interventions for the achievement of sustainable development goals motivated this study to assess the level and association of teachers' (n =107) and students' (n = 342) knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors (KAB) regarding education for sustainable development, focusing on Pili (Canarium ovatum). This is a subset of a larger project that involves Pili to contextualize learning and instructional materials. The researchers used a descriptive cross-sectional survey approach and distributed a questionnaire through Google Forms. (...) KAB levels were categorized into poor, moderate, and high using descriptive data analysis, and their association with one another was determined by using Pearson's Chi- square. The findings indicated that, although the associations among the KAB of teachers were distinct from those of the students, they both perceived that possessing favorable knowledge and attitudes was insufficient to generate positive behaviors. Thus, the efforts to increase teachers' and students' motivation and involvement and to help them carry out favorable behaviors toward sustainable development were imperative. Given this, identifying the barriers to converting knowledge and attitudes into behaviors and considering the factors that involved the association of KAB in promoting sustainable development, particularly in education, were recommended. Discipline and interest are aspects of parenting that affect children’s behavior and academic performance. This study explores the parents’ disciplinary strategies to promote children’s learning interests. The researchers conducted this study due to society’s issue and observation that elementary pupils have a low interest in learning and manifested inappropriate behaviors inside and outside the classroom. The participants were the ten selected parents with children enrolled in 5th Grade in one of the private Catholic elementary schools in Pagadian City, Philippines. A (...) single case study was utilized. It was found that parents experienced challenges in disciplining their children to promote learning interests due to different kinds of behaviors that the children manifest. The participants identified the following behaviors: Too Much Screen Time in Playing Mobile Games and Being Disrespectful. Despite the challenges they have encountered, they were able to overcome those by implementing positive discipline, offering the problem to God, and effective communication to build good relationships with their children. It is important to be gentle and firm in implementing discipline to promote the learning interest of the pupils. Positive discipline inside the classroom allows the pupils to develop skills of responsibility, resiliency, and proper behavior with the use of positive and negative reinforcements that will motivate them to be interested in learning and excel academically. The high number of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases from year to year and the endemic status of DHF in Kutaraja District, Banda Aceh City encourages us to always make efforts to reduce the morbidity rate of DHF. The involvement of elementary school teachers is very important to participate in DHF control which will teach their students. This study was conducted to assess the effect of before and after administration of the DHF learning module on the average knowledge score of (...) 90 grade IV and V elementary school students in the Kutaraja District, Banda Aceh City. The quasi-experimental method and Focus Group Discussions involving schools and Puskesmas when designing DHF learning modules were conducted. One-group pretest-posttest design, consisting of 25 questions that were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The study results obtained an average pre-test score of 76.6% and a post-test average value of 90.6%. The DHF learning module was able to increase elementary school students' knowledge. The provision of DHF material by elementary school teachers through modules can be done to students to increase students' knowledge so that they can participate in reducing the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever. The issue of common method variance and bias in Indonesia still has not gained much attention; even the terminology is less popular, except among psychometric enthusiasts and experts. In fact, the potential for common method variance and bias infiltrating in research results is very high, especially in studies that use a single method, a single source, and concurrent design, which are highly favored by psychological lecturers and researchers in Indonesia. This paper is a critical review, exposing the debate and serious (...) impact regarding common method variance and bias, as well as procedures for detecting, addressing and correcting its effects. The author hoped this paper contributes in filling the gap in the literature, especially in Psychology Research Methodology text books in the Indonesian language, so that psychological researches in Indonesia continue to increase their quality and to have their better place in international publications. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the differentiated learning training program at the mathematics subject teachers' meeting (MGMP). A descriptive quantitative approach was used to identify the successes of the program and areas that require improvement. The sample included 21 mathematics teachers in Sub Rayon 2 of Lebak District. The instruments used were questionnaires in which data on participants' responses to resource persons, materials, and suggestions for future activities were collected, and the results of direct observations. Data analysis (...) was carried out using descriptive statistical methods to describe the overall evaluation results. Based on the findings, it is expected to provide an in-depth view of the differentiated learning program, contribute to the development of the program in the future, and become a guideline for improving the quality of mathematics learning in the Lebak district. The results of this training program evaluation show that the differentiated learning training activities have been well implemented in MGMP Mathematics Sub Rayon 2 Lebak District. This is evidenced by the level of teacher satisfaction in participating in the training, the majority of which were at scores 4 and 5, namely agreeing and strongly agreeing. This was also the case with the resource persons, materials, and training facilities, and organization. It is hoped that in the future continue to carry out ongoing training related to differentiated learning by current needs and to improve the competence of mathematics teachers in particular, as well as teachers of other subjects in general. The difficulty of primary students in solving simple fractions is because students fail to understand the concept of simple fractions. Meanwhile, the results of previous studies allow the integration of PowToon animation multimedia into a constructivist approach to facilitate the conception of the simple fraction. This research aims to develop constructivist-based PowToon animation multimedia (CoPAM) as a valid, practical, and effective learning media for simple fraction material. PowToon was developed using a research and development (R&D) method with a define, design, (...) and development (3-D) model that involved 12 fourth-grade primary students. The data analysis used was descriptive analysis with data collection methods using observation, tests (pre-test and post-test), validation questionnaires (validation of media and material experts, teacher responses, and student responses), and documentation. The results showed that CoPAM has very feasible product criteria for validity, practicality, and effectiveness to facilitate primary students in understanding simple fractions. The recommendations for the next study are needed to further develop and test CoPAM products or the like (which could go through the dissemination stage) by involving a larger and wider number of participants by testing inferential statistics. This study aims to find out how high the level and trends of student misconceptions experienced by high school students in Indonesia. The subject of research that is a class XI student of Natural Science (IPA) SMA Negeri 1 Anjatan with the subject matter limit function. Forms of research used in this study is a qualitative research, with a strategy that is descriptive qualitative research. The data analysis focused on the results of the students' answers on the test essay subject (...) matter limit function with the number of students by 16 (sixteen). Data collection techniques used are shaped test methods essay, interview method to students who have misconceptions, and methods of documentation of the test answers. Examination of the validity of the data using a triangulation technique that compares the data written test results with data from interviews. The results of this study can be described as follows; (1) The level of misconceptions experienced by students belonging to the category of low, amounting to 12.18%. However, students who do not understand the concept quite high at 40.38%, and the others are students who understand the concept that is equal to 47.44%. (2) The misconception most experienced students lie in subconcepts explain the meaning of limit function at one point through the calculation of values around that point, that is equal to 20.51%. The tendency misconceptions experienced by students is located on errors and operating concepts that misconceptions students that there should be no limit in the completion of the writing of the emblem and misconceptions about the limit students to conclude if the limit value of 0 is no limit to the value of the function. his study aims to determine whether the application of brain-friendly learning through whole brain teaching gives a positive effect on the creative character of students, to know the response of the students against the application of brain-friendly learning through whole brain teaching, and to find out if the student response against the application of brain-friendly learning through whole brain teaching correlates positively with the creative character of students in learning mathematics. The research method used that is quantitative. The instruments used, (...) namely the now student response related application of brain-friendly learning through whole brain teaching, and sheets of observation about the creativity of students in learning mathematics after implementing this method. The correlation analysis with the results of the study showed that the value of the larger significance of the alpha values (5%) which means accepting and rejecting H0 Ha which means student response against the application of brain-friendly learning through whole brain teaching not correlated positively with the creative character of students in learning mathematics. The average student response score against this method is found on very good i.e. amounted to 85%. As for the observations of the creative character of the students, after this method is applied, the average score of 68% is found quite creative. (shrink)

At the beginning of 2020, the world was experiencing the Covid-19 pandemic, and Indonesia was no exception. The occurrence of this affects the learning system in Indonesia, the learning system that was originally face-to-face was forced to online form, in this case the teachers are required to provide a creative, efficient and optimal learning system for students. So the purpose of this study is to find out the difference in the average learning result of elementary school students during the pandemic. (...) The method used in this study is quantitative with a posttest-only control group design. The population in this study were grade 4 elementary school students in Majalengka district, Indonesia. There were 64 samples and was taken by purposive sampling. The results of this study are that there are differences in the average student learning results where students who study with the hybrid learning system are higher than the face-to-face learning system. The hybrid learning system is very reliable in the 4.0 era as well as learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, for the record, it is necessary to look at the facilities and infrastructure considering that this system relies on technology, it is necessary to understand and be able to control the learning media for both teachers and students so that learning outcomes can be optimal and minimize the occurrence of obstacles.
