The modernization of Burgundy during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries drew on the coordinated efforts of numerous industrial and cultural sectors. Among these innovative developments, new tourism industries played a prominent role in providing new opportunities for the consumption of local products while redefining existing conceptions of Burgundian landscapes. This entailed collaboration of a variety of cultural intermediaries ranging from local boosters to politicians and from merchants to academics. Geographers contributed by incorporating symbolic, subjective, and performative practices into (...) the existing regional concepts of terroir and genres-de-vie. The result was newly scripted roles for tourists and locals to participate in gastronomic activities that, by virtue of the experience, altered participants’ experience of time, space, and themselves. Rapidly institutionalized in Burgundy, these developments illustrate how contemporary commercial interests influenced geographic notions of place in the French provinces. (shrink)

Trong một thế giới đang phải vật lộn với nhu cầu cấp thiết chống lại biến đổi khí hậu, các quốc gia đã đưa ra những cam kết quan trọng nhằm giảm khí thải và tác động đến môi trường. Những cam kết này rất cần thiết để đạt được các mục tiêu do Thỏa thuận Paris đặt ra, nhằm hạn chế sự nóng lên toàn cầu ở mức dưới 2°C. Mặc dù các cam kết được đưa ra, nhưng tình (...) hình vẫn không mấy khả quan khi tổng lượng phát thải liên tục đạt đỉnh mới từ 1990. Năm 2023 đã ghi nhận mức băng biển ở Nam Cực thấp nhất từ trước đến nay, trong khi đó Cơ Quan Năng lượng Quốc tế dự đoán rằng lượng khí thải CO2 sẽ lại tiếp tục đạt mức cao kỷ lục trong năm 2023 và vẫn chưa thể xác định được mức đỉnh rõ ràng. Cùng với đó là sự xuất hiện của hàng loạt các rủi ro và thách thức có thể khiến các quốc gia lùi bước, thậm chí thất bại, trong việc thực hiện các cam kết khí hậu. Bài viết này sẽ xem xét một số rủi ro và thách thức chính có khả năng làm cản trở các mục tiêu giảm phát thải như đã cam kết. Bài nghiên cứu kiểm tra hiệu ứng bất cân xứng của đòn bẩy tài chính trên thị trường tài chính cận biên của Việt Nam. Thông qua việc áp dụng mô hình kinh tế lượng EGARCH và TARCH, bài nghiên cứu đã xác nhận sự tồn tại của hiệu ứng bất cân xứng của tin tức đến mức độ rủi ro trên thị trường chứng khoán Việt Nam. Cụ thể, tin tức tiêu cực có tác động mạnh hơn so với (...) tin tức tích cực đến sự biến động của giá tài sản trong tương lai. Ngoài ra, mô hình TARCH có sự phù hợp hơn so với mô hình EGARCH dựa trên sự kiểm tra chỉ tiêu tiêu chuẩn thông tin Akaike (AIC) và tiêu chuẩn thông tin Bayesian (BIC). (shrink)

In “What is it like to be boring and myopic?” Kathleen Akins offers an interesting, empirically driven, argument for thinking that there is nothing that it is like to be a bat. She suggests that bats are “boring” in the sense that they are governed by behavioral scripts and simple, non-representational, control loops, and are best characterized as biological automatons. Her approach has been well received by philosophers sympathetic to empirically informed philosophy of mind. But, despite its influence, her (...) work has not met with any critical appraisal. -/- It is argued that a reconsideration of the empirical results shows that bats are not boring automatons, driven by short input-output loops, instincts, and reflexes. Grounds are provided for thinking that bats satisfy a range of philosophically and scientifically interesting elaborations of the general idea that consciousness is best understood in terms of representational functions. A more complete examination of bat sensory capabilities suggests there is something that it is like after all. -/- The discussion of bats is also used to develop an objection to strongly neurophilosophical approaches to animal consciousness. What does it feel like to be a bat? Is conscious experience of echolocation closer to that of vision or audition? Or do bats process echolocation nonconsciously, such that they do not feel anything about echolocation? This famous question of bats' experience, posed by a philosopher Thomas Nagel in 1974, clarifies the difficult nature of the mind–body problem. Why a particular sense, such as vision, has to feel like vision, but not like audition, is totally puzzling. This is (...) especially so given that any conscious experience is supported by neuronal activity. Activity of a single neuron appears fairly uniform across modalities and even similar to those for non-conscious processing. Without any explanation on why a particular sense has to feel the way it does, researchers cannot approach the question of the bats' experience. Is there any theory that gives us a hope for such explanation? Currently, probably none, except for one. Integrated information theory has potential to offer a plausible explanation. IIT essentially claims that any system that is composed of causally interacting mechanisms can have conscious experience. And precisely how the system feels is determined by the way the mechanisms influence each other in a holistic way. In this article, I will give a brief explanation of the essence of IIT. Further, I will briefly provide a potential scientific pathway to approach bats' conscious experience and its philosophical implications. If IIT, or its improved or related versions, is validated enough, the theory will gain credibility. When it matures enough, predictions from the theory, including nature of bats' experience, will have to be accepted. I argue that a seemingly impossible question about bats' consciousness will drive empirical and theoretical consciousness research to make big breakthroughs, in a similar way as an impossible question about the age of the universe has driven modern cosmology. In his celebrated 1974 essay “What Is It Like to Be a Bat?,” Thomas Nagel stages a human-bat encounter to illustrate and support his claim that “subjective experience” is irreducible to “objective fact”: because Nagel cannot experience the world as a bat does, he will never know what it is like to be one. In Nagel’s account, heterogeneity is figured negatively—as a failure or lack of resemblance—and functions to constrain his knowledge of bats. Today, as white-nose syndrome threatens bat (...) populations across North America, might figuring heterogeneity positively, as a condition of creativity, open up new modes of receptivity and responsiveness to species extinctions? This essay turns to philosophies of becoming and to recent research in the biological sciences to explore this possibility. I suggest that attending to the heterogeneity of experience alerts us to more public dimensions of our being and may thereby work against the tendency to understand and experience ourselves as self-contained and closed off from one another and the world we share in common. This may in turn enhance our sense of entanglement with the events, bodies, and forces on the “outside” of experience, including bats and the white-nose syndrome with which they are afflicted today. Such an affirmation of heterogeneity as a condition of creativity holds the greatest promise for multispecies ethics today, I propose, when it is joined to an affirmation of incompatibilities within and between things as a real force of suffering and destruction in a heterogeneous world. It will be a wrong judgment to consider grave stones as an ordinary tradition. When it is viewed in terms of history, art and culture, it can be seen that especially Turkish grave stones are record drawings that include many types of arts and artists’ labor, shed our culture and history and that is precious and unique. Grave stones are the documents that transfer not only the national culture but also transfer people’s beliefs, problems, fears, sadness and different feelings, who (...) breathe the same air and live in the same places. Because of this reason, grave stones are the cultural features that are shaped according to the differences in culture and decorated with life styles. Of course, Of course, having been applied plenty of traditional Turkish plastic arts on the tombstones, have all contributed to the diversity of tombstones in terms of composition and motifs. Rich craftsmanship of gravestones and sarcophagus in the second Bayezid graveyard is almost like an open air museum that shows Turkish motifs. While scarping was used for making gravestones are scarping, and painting were used as the main decoration tecnique is seen on foot stone with the painting technique, inscriptions of stones were coloured. Most of the inscriptions and decorations are relieved. Decoration subjects seen on gravestones are phytomorphic, geometric, objective and calligraphic. On the other side, these tombstones include wide knowledge about the socio-economic, cultural and regional headgears. When evaluating the information on the inscriptions, it can be obtained knowledge about the health conditions or epidemics in that period. Adolf Ebeling, article titled “Turkish cemeteries” in the 1882 the year Gartenlaube journal, when talking about the importance given to the graves by Turks, to say that the Turkish burial tomb can be an example to the world is no need to say more about it. The thomstones as the verbal means service to rebuilt the material world where the man has saved so far and the culture developing in accordance with this. The written tombstones which were formed by the individuals’ cherishing and remembering desires that the cultural, religious and traditional ones shaped, are the carrier elements of the values wich will provide to understand the sterotype requirements and ideologies within the cultural structure. Looking at the overall structure of the Turkish tombstones form shows major differences in male and female gravestones. In the Turkish tombstone tradition, women's elegance, finesse and beauty is reflected as a form of artwork. In fact, women in the Ottoman Empire, although excluded from the social life in very marginalized, especially in women flashy decorations tombstones, can be considered as an indication value which is given to women but unspoken. Since the tombstones have dates, they hold the distinction of being a document for ethnographic and art works. Moreover, inscribed tombstones are living evidences in order to prove that Turkish people lived in this land and also they have ethnographic value. Therefore, tombstones are important while the histories of cities, villages or boroughs are preparing. In short, tombstones are the common products of the environment that are built, religious beliefs, traditions, art, natural, social and economic conditions of the century. In this case they hold key for our culture history in addition to our art history. In this study, besides the effects of Turkish grave stones on our beliefs and daily lives, fruit patterns on the stones are also examined. The reflections traditional architectural and handicrafts motifs and the religious believes on the Turkish ornament art are explained by the examples chosen among gravestones in İstanbul II. Beyazıt Cemetery. In the colloquial language what fruit motifs mean in folk songs ang manias and how it is reflected on the ornaments of grave stones are investigated. (shrink)

In his recent "Thomas vs. Thomas: A New Approach to Nagel's Bat Argument", Yujin Nagasawa interprets Thomas Nagel as making a certain argument against physicalism and objects that this argument transgresses a principle, laid down by Thomas Aquinas, according to which inability to perform a pseudo-task does not count against an omnipotence claim. Taking Nagasawa's interpretation of Nagel for granted, I distinguish different kinds of omnipotence claims and different kinds of pseudo-tasks, and on that basis show that Nagasawa's criticism of (...) Nagel is unsuccessful. I also show how his reflections do nonetheless point to a limitation of the approach he means to criticize. (shrink)

Alman şair Jo-hann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) bu yeni perspektifin en önemli temsilcilerinden biridir. Gençlik yıllarından itibaren Kur’an ile meşgul olan Goethe, farklı meallere ve kaynaklara da müracaat ederek Kur’an hakkında zengin bir bilgi birikimine sahip olmuş-tur. This book attempts to advance Donald Griffin's vision of the "final, crowning chapter of the Darwinian revolution" by developing a philosophy for the science of animal consciousness. It advocates a Darwinian bottom-up approach that treats consciousness as a complex, evolved, and multidimensional phenomenon in nature rather than a mysterious all-or-nothing property immune to the tools of science and restricted to a single species. -/- The so-called emergence of a science of consciousness in the 1990s has at best been a science (...) of human consciousness. This book aims to advance a true Darwinian science of consciousness in which its evolutionary origin, function, and phylogenetic diversity are moved from the field’s periphery to its very centre, thus enabling us to integrate consciousness into an evolutionary view of life. Accordingly, this book has two objectives: (i) to argue for the need and possibility of an evolutionary bottom-up approach that addresses the problem of consciousness in terms of the evolutionary origins of a new ecological lifestyle that made consciousness worth having and (ii) to articulate a thesis and beginnings of a theory of the place of consciousness as a complex evolved phenomenon in nature that can help us to answer the question of what it is like to be a bat, an octopus, or a crow. -/- A Philosophy for the Science of Animal Consciousness will appeal to researchers and advanced students interested in advancing our understanding of animal minds as well as anyone with a keen interest in how we can develop a science of animal consciousness. Indeed, both raise a number of related, albeit very complex, philosophical problems. In recent years, the phenomenology of health and disease has become a major topic in bioethics and the philosophy of medicine, owing much to the work of Havi Carel (2007, 2011, 2018). Surprisingly little attention, however, has been given to (...) the phenomenology of animal health and suffering. Bourrat and Griffiths :33, 2018) have recently argued that most of the evidence presented by holobiont defenders to support the thesis that holobionts are evolutionary individuals is not to the point and is not even adequate to discriminate multispecies evolutionary individuals from other multispecies assemblages that would not be considered evolutionary individuals by most holobiont defenders. They further argue that an adequate criterion to distinguish the two categories is fitness alignment, presenting the notion of fitness boundedness as a criterion that (...) allows divorcing true multispecies evolutionary individuals from other multispecies assemblages and provides an adequate criterion to single out genuine evolutionary multispecies assemblages. A consequence of their criterion is that holobionts, as conventionally defined by hologenome defenders, are not evolutionary individuals except in very rare cases, and for very specific host-symbiont associations. This paper is a critical response to Bourrat and Griffiths’ arguments and a defence of the arguments presented by holobiont defenders. Drawing upon the case of the hologenomic basis of the evolution of sanguivory in vampire bats, I argue that Bourrat and Griffiths overlook some aspects of the biological nature of the microbiome that justifies the thesis that holobionts are evolutionarily different to other multispecies assemblages. I argue that the hologenome theory of evolution should not define the hologenome as a collection of genomes, but as the sum of the host genome plus some traits of the microbiome which together constitute an evolutionary individual, a conception I refer to as the stability of traits conception of the hologenome. Based on that conception I argue that the evidence presented by holobiont defenders is to the point, and supports the thesis that holobionts are evolutionary individuals. In this sense, the paper offers an account of the holobiont that aims to foster a dialogue between hologenome advocates and hologenome critics. (shrink)

Contemporary biological research has suggested that some host–microbiome multispecies systems (referred to as “holobionts”) can in certain circumstances evolve as unique biological individual, thus being a unit of selection in evolution. If this is so, then it is arguably the case that some biological adaptations have evolved at the level of the multispecies system, what we call hologenomic adaptations. However, no research has yet been devoted to investigating their nature, or how these adaptations can be distinguished from adaptations at the (...) species-level (genomic adaptations). In this paper, we cover this gap by investigating the nature of hologenomic adaptations. By drawing on the case of the evolution of sanguivory diet in vampire bats, we argue that a trait constitutes a hologenomic adaptation when its evolution can only be explained if the holobiont is considered the biological individual that manifests this adaptation, while the bacterial taxa that bear the trait are only opportunistic beneficiaries of it. We then use the philosophical notions of emergence and inter-identity to explain the nature of this form of individuality and argue why it is special of holobionts. Overall, our paper illustrates how the use of philosophical concepts can illuminate scientific discussions, in the trend of what has recently been called metaphysics of biology. (shrink)

This paper presents 59 new studies (N = 72,310) which focus primarily on the “bat and ball problem.” It documents our attempts to understand the determinants of the erroneous intuition, our exploration of ways to stimulate reflection, and our discovery that the erroneous intuition often survives whatever further reflection can be induced. Our investigation helps inform conceptions of dual process models, as “system 1” processes often appear to override or corrupt “system 2” processes. Many choose to uphold their intuition, even (...) when directly confronted with simple arithmetic that contradicts it – especially if the intuition is approximately correct. (shrink)

We can perceive shapes visually and tactilely, and the information we gain about shapes through both sensory modalities is integrated smoothly into and functions in the same way in our behavior independently of whether we gain it by sight or touch. There seems to be no reason in principle we couldn't perceive shapes through other sensory modalities as well, although as a matter of fact we do not. While we can identify shapes through other sensory modalities—e.g., I may know by (...) smell (the scent of mango) that the object causing my sensory experience is round—this is not perceiving an object as shaped, but rather inferring from the character of one's sensory experience and collateral information that an object of a certain shape caused it. That it is possible to perceive shape by other modalities, however, is suggested by the case of bats and aquatic mammals like dolphins which navigate through their environment by a form of sonar. It is plausible that they have some form of auditory representation of space, and so of shape. These facts about shape perception raise important questions about the relation between those features of perceptual experience which are intrinsic to different sensory modalities and the nature of our perceptual representation of shapes, and, more generally, of the space within which we perceive shaped objects to be located. John Campbell's paper, "Molyneux's Problem" (see above), raises a number of interesting and important questions about the nature of our perception of shape properties, particularly the cross-modal nature of shape perception, and ties them to more general questions about the nature both of perceptual.. Work in philosophy of mind often engages in descriptive phenomenology, i.e., in attempts to characterize the phenomenal character of our experience. Nagel’s famous discussion of what it’s like to be a bat demonstrates the difficulty of this enterprise (1974). But while Nagel located the difficulty in our absence of an objective vocabulary for describing experience, I argue that the problem runs deeper than that: we also lack an adequate subjective vocabulary for describing phenomenology. We struggle to describe our own phenomenal (...) states in terms we ourselves find adequately expressive. This paper aims to flesh out why our phenomenological vocabulary is so impoverished – what I call the impoverishment problem. As I suggest, this problem has both practical and philosophical import. After fleshing out the problem in more detail, I draw some suggestive morals from the discussion in an effort to point the way forward towards a solution. (shrink)

Successful athletic performance requires precision in many respects. A batter stands behind home plate awaiting the arrival of a ball that is less than three inches in diameter and moving close to 100 mph. His goal is to hit it with a ba­­t that is also less than three inches in diameter. This impressive feat requires extraordinary temporal and spatial coordination. The sweet spot of the bat must be at the same place, at the same time, as the ball. A (...) basketball player must keep a ball bouncing as she speeds from one end of the court to another, evading defensive players. She may never break pace as she lifts from the ground, throwing the ball fifteen feet toward a hoop that is eighteen inches in diameter. One task facing a psychologist involves explaining how the body does such things within the sometimes very demanding spatial and temporal constraints that a given task imposes. Part of the goal of this chapter is to sketch the commitments of an embodied approach to such an explanation. We shall see that an embodied account of motor skills draws concepts that depart radically from more traditional cognitivist theories of motor activity. Similarly, because an embodied approach to cognition introduces new ways to understand the human capacity for social interaction, it also promises to shed new light on how athletes coordinate their actions with each other. What can the creation of artificial habitats to replace old-growth forests tell us about the process, value and future of design? This chapter takes a concrete and provocative example and uses it to rethink design as a gradual, ecological action. To illustrate this understanding, the chapter begins with a description of a proposal to provide artificial habitats for wild animals such as birds, bats and invertebrates. The controversial idea to replace rapidly disappearing old-growth trees with artificial structures puts in (...) doubt habitual assumptions about the clients, procedures and goals of design. This example is of relevance to all design because the need to provide artificial habitats to nonhumans will be increasingly common under the influence of such phenomena as global warming or urbanisation. … The invention of artificial structures in place of natural habitats is described in this chapter as an incitement that highlights the need for further research into values, participants and methods of design. This discussion concludes with a proposal for an attitude of modesty in the face of increasingly overwhelming volumes of information as well as in the presence of an even greater ignorance about the futures of nondeterministic, volatile and incompletely controllable natural systems. The dilemma of design in these conditions is in the tension between its remit to act and the uncertainty that inescapably underlies any creative endeavour. (shrink)

Trees belong to humanity’s heritage, but they are more than that. Their loss, through catastrophic fires or under business-as-usual, is devastating to many forms of life. Moved by this fact, we begin with an assertion that heritage can have an active role in the design of future places. Written from within the field of architecture, this article focuses on structures that house life. Habitat features of trees and artificial replacement habitats for arboreal wildlife serve as concrete examples. Designs of such (...) habitats need to reflect behaviours, traditions and cultures of birds, bats, and other animals. Our narrative highlights the nonhuman aspect of heritage, seeking to understand how nonhuman stakeholders can act as users and consumers of heritage and not only as its constituents. Our working definition states that more-than-human heritage encompasses tangible and intangible outcomes of historical processes that are of value to human as well as nonhuman stakeholders. From this basis, the article asks how the established notions of heritage can extend to include nonhuman concerns, artefacts, behaviours and cultures. As a possible answer to this question, the hypothesis tested here is that digital information can (1) contribute to the preservation of more-than-human heritage; and (2) illuminate its characteristics for future study and use. This article assesses the potential of three imaging technologies and considers the resulting data within the conceptual framework of more-than-human heritage, illuminating some of its concrete aspects and challenges. The definitive statement of the Knowledge Argument was formulated by Frank Jackson, in a paper entitled “Epiphenomenal Qualia” that appeared in The Philosophical Quarterly in 1982. Arguments in the same spirit had appeared earlier (Broad 1925, Robinson 1982), but Jackson’s argument is most often compared with Thomas Nagel’s argument in “What is it Like to be a Bat?” (1974). Jackson, however, takes pains to distinguish his argument from Nagel’s. This entry will follow standard practice in focusing on Jackson’s argument, though (...) Thought experiments, one of the most effective ways of acquiring knowledge, are an intellectual tool frequently used by scientists or thinkers in their fields of study. Thought experiments used to respond to scientific issues are considered scientific thought experiments, while thought experiments used for philosophical problems are called philosophical thought experiments. In this context, firstly, the differences between scientific and philosophical thought experiments are determined in the article. In particular, philosophical thought experiments are often needed in discussions within the field (...) of epistemology. For this reason, in the rest of the study, the knowledge argument put forward against the idea of physicalism, which is one of the important views in epistemology and which claims that the natural world is basically physical and that everything can be explained by physical laws is included. The knowledge argument briefly argues that there are non-physical properties and information that can only be discovered through conscious experience. Accordingly, it is argued that someone who has all physical knowledge about another conscious may lack knowledge of what it would feel like to have subjective experiences of that entity such as qualia. Consequently, the main idea of the article is to reveal how an epistemological thesis has been questioned by various philosophers in the context of philosophical thought experiments such as Mary’s room, ‘What is it like to be a Bat’, The Martian and the Philosophical Zombie. - Bilgi edinmenin en etkili yollarından bir tanesi olarak değerlendirilen düşünce deneyleri bilim insanları ya da düşünürler tarafından kendi çalışma alanları içerisinde sıklıkla başvurulan düşünsel bir araçtır. Bilimsel konulara cevap vermek amacıyla gerçekleştirilen düşünce deneyleri bilimsel düşünce deneyleri olarak değerlendirilirken, felsefi sorunlara yönelik kullanılan düşünce deneyleri ise felsefi düşünce deneyleri olarak adlandırılmaktadır. Bu kapsamda makalede ilk olarak bilimsel ve felsefi düşünce deneyleri arasındaki farklılıklar belirlenmektedir. Özellikle, epistemoloji alanı içerisinde yer alan tartışmalarda felsefi düşünce deneylerine sıklıkla ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Bu nedenle çalışmanın devamında epistemolojide önemli görüşlerden bir tanesi olan ve doğal dünyanın en temelde fiziksel olduğu ve fiziksel yasalarla her şeyin açıklanabileceği iddiasında bulunan fizikalizm düşüncesine karşı ileri sürülmüş bilgi argümanına yer verilmektedir. Bilgi argümanı kısaca sadece bilinçli deneyim yoluyla elde edilebilen ve fiziksel olarak ifade edilemeyen öznel deneyimlerin ve özelliklerin olduğunu savunmaktadır. Buna göre, başka bir bilinçli varlık hakkında bütün fiziksel bilgiye sahip olan birinin, o varlığın qualia gibi öznel deneyimlerine sahip olmasının nasıl bir his olduğu konusundaki bilgilerden yoksun olabileceği fikri savunulmaktadır. Bu doğrultuda, makalenin temel savı fizikalizm gibi epistemolojik bir teze Mary’nin Odası, ‘Yarasa Olmak Nasıl Bir Şeydir’, Marslı ve Felsefi Zombi gibi felsefi düşünce deneyleri bağlamında çeşitli filozoflarca nasıl itiraz edildiğini ve düşünce deneylerinin bu bağlamda nasıl kullanıldığını ortaya koymaktır. Không gian mạng và các tiện ích đi kèm ngày càng được mở rộng, dẫn đến sự chuyển dịch dần từ đời sống trong thế giới thực sang đời sống trong thế giới ảo (còn gọi là không gian mạng hay không gian số). Sự mở (...) rộng và phát triển của các Mô hình Xử lý Ngôn ngữ Tự nhiên (Natural Language Processing – NLP) và Mô hình Ngôn ngữ Lớn (Large Language Model – LLM) thể hiện những đặc điểm giống con người về lập luận, nhận thức, sự chú ý và sáng tạo đã giúp con người vượt qua rào cản về khả năng vận hành. Đi kèm với các tiềm năng to lớn của AI là những lỗ hổng bảo mật mới và các rủi ro về an ninh thông tin phức tạp hơn. Khi xã hội vẫn đang cố gắng chuyển mình sang giai đoạn mới để có thể thích ứng với sự biến đổi công nghệ, cuộc cách mạng AI lại tiếp tục diễn ra đòi hỏi chúng ta phải suy nghĩ lại quỹ đạo của quá trình chuyển đổi xã hội vì nó có thể làm trầm trọng hơn các rủi ro an ninh thông tin được trình bày ở trên. Cụ thể, xã hội cần tiến hóa như thế nào để có thể bắt kịp với sự biến đổi mang tính đột phá tạo ra bởi làn sóng công nghệ AI hiện nay? Làm sao để quản lý và tận dụng sức mạnh của chúng trong khi vẫn đảm bảo được an ninh thông tin khi không gian và thời gian sống trong thế giới ảo của chúng ta ngày càng tăng? Năm 2023 là năm cực kỳ khó khăn đối với kinh tế toàn cầu, khi mà các nước áp dụng các chính sách thắt chặt tiền tệ, các bất ổn thương mại do ảnh hưởng từ cuộc chiến kéo dài ở Ukraine và cuộc xung đột Israel-Hamas, và áp lực do biến đổi khí hậu. Khởi đầu 2023 đầy khó khăn, kinh tế Việt Nam tăng trưởng với tốc độ 3,41% vào Quý I, sau đó tăng trưởng tích cực ở (...) các Quý tiếp theo. Đến Quý IV, tốc độ tăng trưởng ước tính tăng lên mức 6,72%, khiến cho tốc độ tăng trưởng cả năm 2023 ước tính đạt 5,05%. Mặc dù không đạt mục tiêu 6,5% đề ra tại Kế hoạch phát triển kinh tế – xã hội năm 2023 và Nghị quyết 01/NQ-CP của Chính phủ, nhưng đây là một thành tích rất đáng khích lệ cho một năm đầy biến động khó lường trên trường quốc tế. Dựa trên tóm lược tình hình kinh tế – xã hội được cung cấp trên Cổng Thông tin Điện tử Chính phủ, tôi cho rằng các điểm sau là các yếu tố quan trọng góp phần vào sự tăng trưởng ổn định và vững vàng trong năm 2023 của Việt Nam. The philosophical study of consciousness is chock full of thought experiments: John Searle’s Chinese Room, David Chalmers’ Philosophical Zombies, Frank Jackson’s Mary’s Room, and Thomas Nagel’s ‘What is it like to be a bat?’ among others. Many of these experiments and the endless discussions that follow them are predicated on what Chalmers famously referred as the ‘hard’ problem of consciousness: for him, it is ‘easy’ to figure out how the brain is capable of perception, information integration, attention, reporting on mental (...) states, etc, even though this is far from being accomplished at the moment. What is ‘hard’, claims the man of the p-zombies, is to account for phenomenal experience, or what philosophers usually call ‘qualia’: the ‘what is it like’, first-person quality of consciousness. INTRODUÇÃO As fêmeas dos animais domésticos possuem em seus ovários, desde praticamente o nascimento, a dotação completa de gametas dos quais vão dispor para o resto de sua (...) vida. No entanto, terão que esperar até a puberdade para que se produza a evolução completa dos folículos (foliculogênese) que darão como resultado as primeiras ovulações. Este momento caracteriza-se, por um lado, pelo início gradual da secreção por parte da hipófise de quantidades importantes de hormonas gonadotropinas (hormonas folículo estimulante «FSH» e sobretudo luteinizante «LH»); por outro lado, pelo aumento da capacidade dos seus ovários para responder a estas secreções. A partir daí, o aparelho reprodutor feminino das fêmeas domésticas deve apresentar, durante todo o período de atividade sexual, alterações morfológicas, endócrinas e fisiológicas, que devem ser repetidas sequencialmente e periodicamente, consoante com a duração e a frequência do ciclo estral característico de cada espécie animal, assegurando assim a liberação de um ou mais ovócitos férteis nos ciclos estrais correspondentes. -/- 2. EVOLUÇÃO DO OVÓCITO E DOS FOLÍCULOS OVÁRICOS O ovário constitui um órgão de armazenamento de ovócitos formados durante a vida fetal ou após o nascimento, os quais permanecerão «latentes», num estado de imaturidade, paralisando a sua atividade de desenvolvimento e crescimento após o processo de mitose pelo qual as células germinativas ou ovogonias evoluem para ovócitos primários. Estes ovócitos devem ser rodeados por células foliculares para alcançar sua maturação e posterior ovulação, constituindo-se, desta maneira, os folículos. Estes últimos, que se localizam no parênquima ovárico, sofrem uma série de mudanças evolutivas que os fazem passar de folículos primordiais (constituídos por um ovócito rodeado de células planas) a folículos maduros ou de Graaf, passando pelos estágios primário, secundário e terciários. A estrutura do ovário e a terminologia correspondente, bem como a sua fisiologia, já foram tratados em trabalhos anteriores. Basicamente, o folículo maduro ou de Graaf, que ressalta já na superfície ovariana como se tratasse de uma pequena vesícula cheia de líquido, encontra-se constituído, no caso dos mamíferos, pelas tecas externa e interna, a folha basal, o ovócito e o seu núcleo ou vesícula germinativa e um acúmulo de células da granulosa chamado cumulus. O antro-folicular ou cavidade intrafolicular formada durante o estágio de folículo terciário possui no seu interior um líquido cuja composição provém do plasma sanguíneo. Por outro lado, o ovócito, que desde a constituição da reserva de folículos primordiais se encontrava em estado de ovócito primário, começa a aumentar de volume (durante a fase de evolução do folículo terciário a folículo maduro) e a cobrir-se de uma membrana celular denominada zona pelúcida. Nos momentos que precedem imediatamente à ovulação reativa-se a meiose, liberando-se o primeiro corpúsculo polar e convertendo-se o ovócito em secundário. Produzida a ovulação retoma-se de novo a meiose, que tinha permanecido em repouso, e depois de ocorrer a fecundação libera-se o segundo corpúsculo polar, passando a ser uma ovotida ou óvulo maduro. -/- 3. A OVULAÇÃO Acabado o crescimento, o folículo maduro ou de Graaf é capaz de responder à descarga pré-ovulatória de gonadotropinas (LH e em menor medida FSH) de tal forma que se produza uma reestruturação completa do mesmo e a subsequente liberação de um ovócito fértil através de um pequeno orifício (estigma) produzido no ponto de ruptura da sua parede celular e das camadas celulares mais superficiais do córtex ovárico, cuja espessura, neste momento, é muito reduzida. No momento da ovulação tanto o líquido folicular como o ovócito são projetados, entre outras causas, pela contração da musculatura lisa que rodeia os folículos para a cavidade peritoneal caindo perto das fimbrias do oviduto ou trompas de Falópio. Esta expulsão, no caso das vacas e ovelhas, ocorre sob a forma de um fluxo fluido, enquanto na coelha ocorre sob a forma de um jato súbito ou de um processo explosivo. No caso da égua, a estrutura dos seus ovários difere das outras fêmeas domésticas, no sentido em que a zona vascular se localiza superficialmente e os folículos se distribuem no interior do ovário. Ao mesmo tempo, a ovulação ocorre unicamente num determinado ponto denominado fossa de ovulação. Por tudo isso, durante a foliculogênese, os folículos vão migrando para a fossa de ovulação, chegando em algumas ocasiões a ficarem presos no interior do ovário, não conseguindo desenvolver-se nem evolucionar (folículo cístico) e que, ao apresentar uma secreção contínua de estrogênios, produz na fêmea um estado de cio permanente ou ninfomania. Nas espécies cuja ovulação é espontânea, o processo supra ocorre periódica e sequencialmente em todos os ciclos estrais com um intervalo conhecido a partir do início do estro ou, no caso da vaca, após o término deste (tabela 1). Por outro lado, nas espécies de ovulação induzida (coelha, gata e fêmeas de furão e camelo) esta ocorre pouco depois de realizado o coito. Nestas espécies, o estímulo coital, favorecido pelas espículas localizadas no pênis do macho, determina por via eferente nervosa a liberação hipotalâmica de GnRH, que em poucos minutos depois provoca a secreção adeno-hepática de LH, que por via sistêmica alcança os folículos, desencadeando os processos fisiológicos que conduzem à ovulação. No esquema abaixo, observa-se os processos de recrutamento, seleção e dominação da espécie ovina, a partir dos quais um ou vários folículos em crescimento chegam a ovular, bem como a influência das gonadotropinas FSH e LH em cada uma destas fases. Independentemente da influência genética, manifestada pelas diferenças entre espécies, raças e mesmo estirpes, os processos que determinam que entre um grupo de folículos em crescimento sejam um ou vários deles que cheguem a ovular englobam-se sob os termos de recrutamento, seleção e dominação folicular (fig. 1). -/- Figura 1. O recrutamento é definido como a entrada em crescimento terminal de um grupo de folículos gonadodependentes, ou seja, que dentre os folículos em crescimento que existem no reservatório ovariano iniciarão seu crescimento terminal aqueles que possuem receptores à FSH (a partir do estágio primário já os possuem) e tenham igualmente atingido um tamanho determinado, que varia entre as diferentes espécies (2 mm Ø em ovelhas). Geralmente o número de folículos recrutados é duas ou três vezes superior ao número de folículos ovulados. O recrutamento no caso da ovelha ocorre três dias antes da ovulação sob a regressão do corpo lúteo e aumento de FSH. A seleção é caracterizada porque entre os folículos recrutados um ou vários folículos continuam a aumentar de tamanho, enquanto o resto se torna atrésico. No caso da ovelha, o tamanho do folículo no momento da seleção corresponde ao tamanho em que aparecem os receptores de LH sobre a granulosa (folículo terciário) ou quando, como se verá posteriormente, a aromatização de andrógenos em estrogênios é máxima. Por outro lado, a produção de inibina (hormônio gonodal não esteroide) é igualmente elevada. A interação destes dois fatores de retroalimentação (estrogénios e inibina) para a secreção de FSH provoca uma redução dos níveis desta hormona, facilitando a seleção: neste contexto, verificou-se que a injeção de FSH em ovinos bloqueia a seleção produzindo, com efeito, uma multiovulação. No caso da vaca, poderia existir um segundo mecanismo regulador: o folículo maior poderia secretar, em um momento da seleção, um composto de ação parácrina, diminuindo a resposta de outros folículos à ação dos níveis existentes de FSH. A dominância que produz os folículos selecionados está associada com a regressão ou atresia de outros folículos recrutados e com a inibição do recrutamento de novos folículos. Embora os níveis de FSH diminuam, os folículos dominantes persistem porque reduzem suas necessidades em FSH. Esta adaptação a meios mais pobres em FSH poderia explicar-se, entre outras causas, pela ampliação da resposta a esses níveis baixos em FSH graças à produção de IGFI (Insulin Like Growth Factor l), no caso da ovelha, pelo folículo dominante. O IGFI estimula a aromatização dos androgênios em estrogênios e, por sua vez, o estradiol estimula a produção de IGFI nas células granulosas, tornando-a ao mesmo tempo mais sensível ao IGFI. Este laço formado pelo estradiol e IGFI pode desempenhar um papel importante na produção do folículo dominante do estradiol. -/- 4. MECANISMOS NEUROENDÓCRINOS QUE CONDUZEM À OVULAÇÃO A ovulação, propriamente dita, pode ser um bom ponto de partida para explicar os mecanismos neuroendócrinos que se sucedem para alcançar, no próximo ciclo estral, uma nova ovulação. Imediatamente após a ocorrência da ovulação, forma-se um coágulo de sangue no interior do folículo em consequência da hemorragia causada pela ruptura celular (folículo hemorrágico) e que servirá de substrato para o crescimento das células granulosas. Em seguida, as células da granulosa hipertrofiam e proliferam rapidamente, acumulando lipídios e pigmentos carotenoides (luteína) que lhe conferem uma cor amarelada (corpo lúteo). Esta estrutura formada, sob a ação do LH e também da prolactina, começa a produzir progesterona, a qual além de preparar o aparelho reprodutor para uma possível gestação inibe, a nível da hipófise, a secreção cíclica de LH, impedindo assim novas ovulações. À medida que os níveis de progesterona diminuem devido à regressão do corpo lúteo sob a ação da PGF2a (prostaglandina 2a), vários folículos começam seu crescimento sob a ação dos níveis de FSH (cada vez maiores), atingindo o seu crescimento final na fase folicular. Alcançado o estado de terciário, as células da teca interna do folículo, estimuladas pela secreção tônica do LH liberada pela hipófise em pequenas ondas (sem chegar a atingir a quantidade que provoca a ovulação), sintetizam a partir do colesterol, passando por alguns passos intermediários, testosterona, que é depois aromatizada a estradiol sob a ação do FSH pelas células da granulosa (fig. 2). A prolactina, juntamente com o FSH, também influencia o crescimento e a maturação dos folículos, bem como a produção de estrogênios. À medida que avança o crescimento e maturação dos folículos, a concentração de estradiol aumenta (os folículos que em um momento da evolução se tornam atrésicos aportam também uma quantidade importante de estradiol), sendo máxima nos momentos imediatos à ovulação (fig. 3). Este aumento, sustentado na taxa circulante de estrogênios, é a responsável pelo aparecimento do cio nas fêmeas, cujo final, geralmente, exerce um efeito feedback positivo sobre o eixo hipotálamo-hipofisário induzindo o pico pré-ovulatório de LH (e também FSH), que conduz a nova ovulação. Nota importante: a ovulação em algumas espécies não é acompanhada do cio (ovulações silentes ou silenciosas), sobretudo nas primeiras ovulações da puberdade e após o anestro estacionário, devido a produção nula da estimulação prévia da progesterona. Embora citado anteriormente que o crescimento folicular começa no final da fase lútea no caso da vaca, a ovelha e a égua, a população de folículos ovulatórios se renova ao longo do ciclo estral, produzindo-se um crescimento e regressão dos folículos, denominado onda folicular. Nestas ondas, que também podem ocorrer durante o período pré-púbere, anestro estacionário e pós-parto, os folículos são receptores à descarga de LH, no entanto, a sua capacidade de produzir estradiol é muito limitada devido a uma deficiência de precursores em tecas ou a uma inadequação da aromatização dos androgênios em estrogênios, com o qual não se atinge a quantidade de estrogênios necessários para produzir a ativação nervosa necessária para a liberação cíclica de LH. Do ponto de vista prático, o conhecimento dos mecanismos neuroendócrinos que se sucedem durante o ciclo estral e que conduzem à ovulação, bem como a sua possível regulação mediante técnicas culturais ou tratamentos hormonais, é de vital importância quando o que se pretende é realizar um controle e sincronização tanto do cio quanto da ovulação. -/- 5. ALTERAÇÕES MORFOLÓGICAS ASSOCIADAS À OVULAÇÃO Nos momentos prévios à ovulação, o folículo ovulatório experimenta uma série de mudanças morfológicas e histológicas regulamentadas endocrinamente e cuja finalidade será a modificação da estrutura do folículo, facilitando a liberação do ovócito fértil. Logo após a descarga pré-ovulatória, ocorre um aumento do fluxo sanguíneo associado a um acúmulo de sangue que dependerá, entre outros, da prostaglandina E2 (PGF2) secretada pelas células granulosas. A teca externa é edemaciada pela difusão do plasma sanguíneo e o volume do antro folicular aumenta pela atração de água exercida pelo ácido hialurônico secretado pelas células do cumulus sob a ação do FSH/LH. Este aumento de volume é facilitado pela dissociação dos feixes de fibras de colágeno da teca externa e da túnica albugínea sob a ação de duas enzimas: a colagenase e a plasmina. A plasmina age em primeiro lugar e aparece como resultado da produção de ativadores do plasminogênio pelas células da granulosa e do cumulus; sua atividade é máxima no ápice do folículo dissociando a matriz proteica dos feixes de fibras de colágeno e ativando o precursor da colagenase. Além disso, a atividade da colagenase é máxima no momento da ruptura do folículo. A maioria das células da granulosa que estão fixadas na lâmina basal se soltam, perdem sua união em colônia e deixam de se dividir (fig. 4). As ligações que as ligavam desaparecem, mas a sua dissociação não é completa devido, provavelmente, à produção local de inibidores da colagenase. As células do cumulus sofrem as mesmas transformações, mas a sua dissociação é total porque estas secretam ácido hialurônico. No entanto, as células que asseguraram, desde o início do crescimento folicular, a ligação entre a granulosa e o ovócito permanecem durante um período mais ou menos longo, ligadas à coroa radiada. Pouco antes da ovulação, a lâmina basal desaparece de seu lugar, ocorre uma individualização dos vasos sanguíneos e as células da teca interna penetram no folículo. No ápice do folículo, produz-se uma deficiência na irrigação sanguínea e, portanto, de oxigênio, o que faz com que as células do epitélio ovariano morram. As hidrolases, que nesse momento são liberadas, contribuem para a destruição completa dos tecidos subjacentes. Em definitivo, é o conjunto de fatos comentado supra que conduzem à ruptura do ápice do folículo e provocam um aumento da pressão hidrostática que se traduz em uma contração do folículo expulsando o ovócito e as células da coroa radiada. -/- 6. CONTROLE, SINCRONIZAÇÃO E INDUÇÃO DA OVULAÇÃO 6.1 Introdução O controle e a sincronização da ovulação se situa dentro de um contexto muito mais amplo como é o controle da reprodução, entendendo como tal o governo dos elementos manipuláveis do processo reprodutivo. No âmbito do controle da reprodução, existem muitos objetivos, entre os quais a indução da puberdade, a cobertura em época de anestro, aumento da prolificidade, entre outras. Além disso, o controle da reprodução é necessário para a utilização de determinadas técnicas, como a inseminação artificial ou a transferência de embriões. Com efeito, e consoante com o objetivo pretendido, poderão ser utilizadas diferentes técnicas e métodos, tais como os tratamentos hormonais, o efeito macho, a alimentação (Flushing) e os cruzamentos, tudo isso, por sua vez, empregado nos esquemas de seleção. Neste sentido e como passo prévio à sincronização e indução da ovulação, em muitas ocasiões se realiza também um controle e sincronização do cio. Este último, além de permitir que o criador regule o momento do estro e da cobrição, podendo em algumas espécies suprimir o anestro estacionário, permite que os animais se agrupem em lotes homogêneos e assim poder alimentá-los com as dietas adequadas segundo o estado de gestação, atender os partos e assim diminuir a mortalidade neonatal, programar os desmames e engordar os animais para, por fim, vender os animais por lotes. Na sincronização do cio o que se pretende é atuar sobre o intervalo entre a fase folicular e a fase luteica, modificando, portanto, a duração do ciclo estral (fig. 5). Figura 5. Para alcançar esse objetivo, os criadores podem adotar dois métodos: a) Induzindo a regressão do corpo lúteo de um grupo de animais de forma que todos eles iniciem a fase folicular e apresentem o cio num espaço de tempo bastante semelhante (injeções de prostaglandinas) (fig. 5b). b) Alargando artificialmente, através de um bloqueio hormonal, a fase luteica de tal modo que, ao cessar esse bloqueio e injetar-lhes gonadotropinas exógenas, os animais iniciem conjuntamente uma fase folicular seguida de um cio sincronizado (injeções de progesterona, implantes de progesterona ou progestágenos, esponjas vaginais impregnadas de progestágenos) (fig. 5c). 6.2 Objetivos e fundamentos Os tratamentos de controle e sincronização da ovulação têm por objetivo tentar regular, por um lado, o momento exato da ovulação, e por outro, o número de folículos que possam chegar a liberar ovócitos férteis, ao qual pode-se conseguir mediante a intervenção nos processos de recrutamento e seleção dos folículos. O primeiro objetivo permitirá que se realize a inseminação artificial no momento propício, evitando o envelhecimento dos ovócitos e que se possa calcular o momento da fertilização e a fase de desenvolvimento dos embriões (realização de transplantes). Por outro lado, o segundo objetivo ajudará a aumentar a fertilidade e a prolificidade em um rebanho e, no caso de fêmeas doadoras para a transferência de embriões, a relação: número de embriões/fêmea doadora. A indução da ovulação e/ou o aumento da taxa de ovulação pode ser conseguida aumentando os níveis de gonadotropinas no sangue antes do início da atresia folicular, ou seja, 3 a 5 dias antes da ovulação. Por outro lado, a taxa de ovulação pode também ser aumentada através da imunização contra esteroides, embora, por outro lado, permitam uma sincronização de cios. Além disso, o aumento dos níveis de gonadotropinas pode ser conseguido estimulando a sua secreção pelo próprio organismo do animal, por injeção de fatores de liberação hipotalâmicos que estimulem na hipófise a secreção de gonadotropinas, através do manejo dos reprodutores (efeito macho) e da alimentação (Flushing) ou por injeção das gonadotropinas no animal. 6.3 Imunização contra esteroides A imunização contra esteroides é uma técnica eficaz para aumentar a taxa de ovulação de animais que encontram-se em atividade sexual, ou seja, fora do anestro, uma vez que o seu mecanismo de ação baseia-se na alteração do controle endócrino da ovulação devido à ação dos anticorpos contra os esteroides ováricos, especialmente contra a androstenediona. Esta última regula a produção de uma proteína denominada «interleucina l», secretada pelos macrófagos do sistema imunitário e que inibe a diferenciação dos receptores à LH nos folículos, sem afetar a quantidade de sangue do FSH. Por isso, a teoria que tenta explicar o mecanismo de ação dos tratamentos de imunização é a seguinte: «O bloqueio dos esteroides pelos anticorpos do tratamento reduziria a produção de «interleucina l», permitindo assim que um maior número de folículos tivessem receptores à LH e pudessem ovular». Existem dois tipos de imunização: imunização ativa e imunização passiva. Na primeira, a metodologia consiste em tratar o animal com uma série de vacinas por via subcutânea ou intradérmica, pelo menos em duas ocasiões, até que a resposta imunitária atinja o nível desejado e ele próprio produza os anticorpos contra o antígeno (androstenediona) contido no conteúdo da vacina. Por outro lado, na imunização passiva o animal tratado recebe soro, por via intravenosa, de outro animal que foi imunizado (anticorpos policlonais), ou anticorpos monoclonais produzidos mediante técnicas imunológicas modernas. 6.4. Injeções de hormonas gonadotropinas As preparações hormonais de gonadotropinas injetadas num momento adequado do ciclo estral permitem, por um lado, aumentar o número de folículos em desenvolvimento (preparações ricas em atividade FSH) e, por outro lado, controlar e sincronizar o momento da ovulação (preparações ricas em atividade LH). Atualmente, os preparados hormonais à base de LH e FSH puros obtidos a partir de glândulas pituitárias em matadouros deixaram de ser utilizados, já que, além de não serem economicamente rentáveis, a sua conservação e utilização acarreta inúmeros problemas. a) A PMSG ou gonadotropina do soro de égua gestante com atividade predominante em FSH. Este hormônio, que permite aumentar o número de folículos em desenvolvimento, deve ser injetado (em doses variáveis segundo a espécie; tabela 2) no início da fase folicular, imediatamente após a regressão do corpo lúteo, quando as gonadotropinas endógenas do próprio animal estimulam o crescimento folicular. Para determinar esse exato momento, normalmente se realiza uma sincronização do cio. Tabela 2. Pode ser obtida facilmente, já que se acumula na urina da mulher gestante, servindo sua detecção como teste para a determinação da gestação (teste da rã: origina a ejaculação na rã macho). Uma vez que com esta hormona se pretende controlar o momento da ovulação, a injeção deve ser feita por via intravenosa ou intramuscular, algumas horas antes do animal ter iniciado o estro e portanto a liberação das hormonas gonadotropinas. Pode-se conseguir mediante a injeção, com um intervalo conhecido e em doses adequadas (2), após estimulação com PMSG ou após sincronização do estro. 6.5 Limites das técnicas de controle, sincronização e indução à ovulação Os objetivos almejados durante o tratamento de sincronização e indução da ovulação, acima mencionados, não chegaram a ser alcançados em sua totalidade devido, principalmente, aos seguintes fatores: a) O hipotálamo mediante a liberação em forma de ondas ou pulsações cada um ou dois minutos de fatores liberadores (GnRH) estimula a hipófise para a secreção de hormônios gonadotropinas, o que na prática é muito difícil de se artificializar. b) Como resultado das injeções de hormonas gonadotropas produz-se um feedback dos esteroides gonodais, o qual interfere na secreção de hormonas endógenas e na precisão da resposta. c) As preparações hormonais de natureza proteica provocam a formação de anticorpos no animal, pelo qual a relação dose-resposta não é exata. d) Uma vez que os níveis de resposta tenham sido atingidos, a administração de doses excessivas de gonadotropinas produz uma redução do número de ovulações e interfere nos mecanismos ovulatórios. -/- 7. RESUMO E PRIMEIRAS CONCLUSÕES A ovulação marca o culminar de uma série de alterações morfológicas, fisiológicas e endócrinas que se sucedem no aparelho reprodutor feminino e mais concretamente no ovário e nos folículos ováricos e cujo objetivo é a liberação, após a descarga ovulante de LH, de um ou mais ovócitos férteis, de acordo com as espécies. Da mesma forma, a ovulação se caracteriza pela retomada da meiose e a liberação do primeiro corpúsculo polar, bem como a iniciação da luteinização das células da granulosa e a reestruturação da parede do folículo. Isto ocorre tanto em espécies de ovulação espontânea como induzida. Todas estas alterações são condicionadas pela variação da concentração sanguínea das hormonas gonadotropinas devido ao feedback positivo ou negativo que os esteroides ováricos exercem sobre o hipotálamo em cada uma das fases do ciclo estral. Por este motivo, se num momento preciso do ciclo estral estimula-se a secreção, por parte da hipófise, de hormonas gonadotropinas mediante a injeção de fatores de liberação hipotalâmicos (GnRH) ou a aplicação de algumas técnicas de manejo (efeito macho e Flushing) ou mediante a incrementação da sua concentração no sangue através de injeções de preparações hormonais, será obtido um controle, sincronização e indução da ovulação. Os diferentes tratamentos de sincronização e indução da ovulação, embora apresentem algumas limitações, permitem regular o momento da ovulação e o número de folículos que chegarão a ovular, alcançando em alguns casos uma superovulação, objetivo pretendido na técnica de transplante de embriões. -/- 8. Could a person ever transcend what it is like to be in the world as a human being? Could we ever know what it is like to be other creatures? Questions about the overcoming of a human perspective are not uncommon in the history of philosophy. In the last century, those very interrogatives were notably raised by American philosopher Thomas Nagel in the context of philosophy of mind. In his 1974 essay What is it Like to Be a Bat?, Nagel (...) offered reflections on human subjectivity and its constraints. Nagel’s insights were elaborated before the social diffusion of computers and could not anticipate the cultural impact of technological artefacts capable of materializing interactive simulated worlds as well as disclosing virtual alternatives to the “self.” In this sense, this article proposes an understanding of computers as epistemological and ontological instruments. The embracing of a phenomenological standpoint entails that philosophical issues are engaged and understood from a fundamentally practical perspective. In terms of philosophical praxis, or “applied philosophy,” I explored the relationship between human phenomenologies and digital mediation through the design and the development of experimental video games. For instance, I have conceptualized the first-person action-adventure video game Haerfest (Technically Finished 2009) as a digital re-formulation of the questions posed in Nagel’s famous essay. Experiencing a bat’s perceptual equipment in Haerfest practically corroborates Nagel’s conclusions: there is no way for humans to map, reproduce, or even experience the consciousness of an actual bat. Although unverifiable in its correspondence to that of bats, Haerfest still grants access to experiences and perceptions that, albeit still inescapably within the boundaries of human kinds of phenomenologies, were inaccessible to humans prior to the advent of computers. Phenomenological alterations and virtual experiences disclosed by interactive digital media cannot take place without a shift in human kinds of ontologies, a shift which this study recognizes as the fundamental ground for the development of a new humanism (I deem it necessary to specify that I am not utilizing the term “humanism” in its common connotation, that is to say the one that emerged from the encounter between the Roman civilization and the late Hellenistic culture. According to this conventional acceptation, humanism indicates the realization of the human essence through “scholarship and training in good conduct” (Heidegger 1998, p. 244). However, Heidegger observed that this understanding of humanism does not truly cater to the original essence of human beings, but rather “is determined with regard to an already established interpretation of nature, history, world, and […] beings as a whole.” (Heidegger 1998, p. 245) The German thinker found this way of embracing humanism reductive: a by-product of Western metaphysics. As Heidegger himself specified in his 1949 essay Letter on Humanism, his opposition to the traditional acceptation of the term humanism does not advocate for the “inhuman” or a return to the “barbaric” but stems instead from the belief that the humanism can only be properly understood and restored in culture as more original way of meditating and caring for humanity and understanding its relationship with Being.). Additionally, this study explicitly proposes and exemplifies the use of interactive digital technology as a medium for testing, developing and disseminating philosophical notions, problems and hypotheses in ways which are alternative to the traditional textual one. Presented as virtual experiences, philosophical concepts can be accessed without the filter of subjective imagination. In a persistent, interactive, simulated environment, I claim that the crafting and the mediation of thought takes a novel, projective (In Martin Heidegger’s 1927 Being and Time, the term “projectivity” indicates the way a Being opens to the world in terms of its possibilities of being (Heidegger 1962, pp. 184–185, BT 145). Inspired by Heidegger’s and Vilem Flusser’s work in the field of philosophy of technology as well as Helmuth Plessner’s anthropological position presented in his 1928 book Die Stufen des Organischen und der Mensch. Einleitung in die philosophische Anthropologie, this study understands the concept of projectivity as the innate openness of human beings to construct themselves and their world by means of technical artefacts. In this sense, this study proposes a fundamental understanding of technology as the materialization of mankind’s tendency to overcome its physical, perceptual and communicative limitations.) dimension which I propose to call “augmented ontology.”. Đi kèm với các tiềm năng to lớn của AI là những lỗ hổng bảo mật mới và các rủi ro về an ninh thông tin phức tạp hơn. Khi xã hội vẫn đang cố gắng chuyển mình sang giai đoạn mới để có thể thích ứng với sự biến đổi công nghệ, cuộc cách mạng AI lại tiếp tục diễn ra đòi hỏi chúng ta phải suy nghĩ lại quỹ đạo của quá trình chuyển đổi xã hội vì nó có thể làm trầm trọng hơn các rủi ro an ninh thông tin được trình bày ở trên. Cụ thể, xã hội cần tiến hóa như thế nào để có thể bắt kịp với sự biến đổi mang tính đột phá tạo ra bởi làn sóng công nghệ AI hiện nay? Làm sao để quản lý và tận dụng sức mạnh của chúng trong khi vẫn đảm bảo được an ninh thông tin khi không gian và thời gian sống trong thế giới ảo của chúng ta ngày càng tăng? I identify one particular strand of thought in Thomas Nagel's ‘What Is It Like to Be a Bat?’, which I think has helped shape a certain conception of perceptual consciousness that is still prevalent in the literature. On this conception, perceptual consciousness is to be explained in terms of a special class of properties perceptual experiences themselves exhibit. I also argue that this conception is in fact in conflict with one of the key ideas that supposedly animates Nagel's argument in (...) ‘What Is It Like to Be a Bat?', which is the idea of an intimate connection between the idea of consciousness and that of a point of view. One of the ṣaḥābīs of Prophet Muḥammad is ʿUrwa b. Masʿūd from the Ṭāʾif tribe of Thaqīf. He belongs to the Ahlâf part of the Thaqīf tribe and he is the ruler of this part. ʿUrwa’s ancestry is known without any controversy until Kasî (Thaqīf). According to a narrative his epithet was Abū Yaʿfur and another of his epithet was Abū Masʿūd. Father of ʿUrwa an important person too. He is one of the leaders of his tribe and he commanded (...) his part (Aḥlāf) in wars of Fijār. Mother of ʿUrwa is Subay’a bt. ʿAbd Shams from Banū Umayya. In this way ʿUrwa has kinship both with Banū Umayya and Prophet Muḥammad. So ʿUrwa has a very important position because of his lineage, his mother and father. Thefore, his connections with Mecca and Quraysh strengthens his position. In our sources there is no information about his dates of birth and death. It is likely to be over middle age when he became a muslim, considering that he was the leader of his tribe and his son become a muslim after he died. There is too little information about weddings of ʿUrwa. According to narratives, he had ten wives before becoming Muslim. After becoming a Muslim Prophet Muḥammad warned from him to prefer four out of ten wives. One of his four wives is the daughter of Abū Sufyān. Howev-er, there is no information about the names of his wives. Names of his sons: ʿĀṣim, Abū Murra, Abū Mulayḥ, Dāwūd, Hammām and Hishām and names of his daughters: Umm Saʿīd (married with Ḥaẓrat ʿAlī) and Ḥalīma. We could see he served as embassy before the treaty of Hudaybiyah. His embassy duty shows us the superiority of his position. Also, this embassy duty was very effective at peace negotiations. He mentioned kinship relations which connects about Mecca. He said that it could be beneficial to talk to Prophet Muḥammad himself. The Meccans mentioned about their trust in ʿUrwa. During the time of his embassy, he expressed that both sides should be away from war. In this context, he told the Meccans: The people around Prophet Muḥammad are very loyal to him and he told to Prophet Muḥammad: People around him could disintegrate easily. This mission shows us he is intelligent, respectable and had high persuasion skills. ʿUrwa, observed loyalty of ṣaḥābīs to Prophet Muḥammad. He confessed this loyalty can not be for any ruler. This observa-tion probably affected ʿUrwa’s conversion to Islam. Because of the conquest of Meccah and the events that followed, the people of Ṭāʾif were very worried. Because of this reason people of Ṭāʾif took part in the side of Hawāzin’s and they bat-tled with Muslims. In this time they sent ʿUrwa b. Masʿūd and Ghaylān b. Salama to the city of D̲j̲aras̲h̲ of Yemen, to learn about some war machines and techniques. Therefore they did not join wars of Hunayn and Ṭāʾif. Prophet Muḥammad ended the siege of Ṭāʾif and went to Medina. Meanwhile, ʿUrwa and his friend returned from Yemen. According to narratives when the Prophet Muḥammad returned Medina or he was way in Medina ʿUrwa visited him and became Muslim. Some people tell about the date of ʿUrwa’s being Muslim at before or after Abū Bakr’s emirate of Hadj. However, when the narrations are examined, it can be said he became Muslim after four or five months from Prophet’s siege of Ṭāʾif and before three or four months from Tabūk expedition of Rabīʿ al-awwal or “Rabīʿ al-ākhir” (July or August) in the year 9/630. As for the conversion of ʿUrwa, basic sources report that “Allah, inspired Islam to the heart of ʿUrwa and he changed his situation. He went to the Messenger of Allah and he became Muslim.” They do not give a specific reason. But after this period the narratives tell the reason for ʿUrwa’s becoming a Muslim as due to an experience he had while travelling to Najrān for trade. In this travel, two mysterious young girls and the priest in Najrān said the last prophet came and ʿUrwa must be subject to him and ʿUrwa became Muslim after he returned. But this narrative is prob-lematic with regard to evidence and text. After being Muslim, ʿUrwa wanted permission from the Prophet to invite his tribe to accept Islam. The prophet did not want to accept this at first. Because the people of Ṭāʾif had an arro-gant stance against Islam, and he said that the people of Thaqīf could kill ʿUrwa. Eventually ʿUrwa went to his hometown with permission of Prophet and invited people to Islam and they did not accept this invitation and cursed ʿUrwa. The next morning ʿUrwa read adhan of fajr and people of Ṭāʾif killed him. ʿUrwa b. Masʿūd was likened to Prophet Jesus by the Prophet Muḥammad. It is generally accept-ed that ʿUrwa b. Masʿūd el-Thaqafī is “one of the biggest from two cities” expressed in sūra Zukhruf. Only two weak narrations were reported of Urwa who could live as a Muslim for a few days and was matyred by his tribe. (shrink)

Diğerini ise, özneye dönüştürme tekniklerine karşı verilen mücadeleler, çeşitli iktidar tekniklerinin dayattığı bireysellik ve kimlikten kurtulmanın, özgürleşmenin imkânı oluşturmaktadır. İnsanları, öznelere dönüştüren süreçleri bir bütün olarak ele almak yerine, çeşitli nesneleştirme kipleri üzerinden incelemenin daha akıllıca bir yol olduğunu düşünen Foucault, çalışmalarında insanı özneye dönüştüren üç ayrı nesneleştirme kipine yoğunlaşır. Bunlar; kendilerine bilim statüsü kazandırmaya çalışan filoloji gibi araştırma kipleri, deli ile akıllı, hasta ile sağlıklı, (...) suçlular ile “iyi çocuklar” gibi “bölücü pratikler” olarak adlandırılan pratiklerde ortaya çıkan nesneleştirilme kipleri ve son olarak cinsellik gibi alanlarda bir insanın kendini özneye dönüştürme biçimindeki nesneleştirme kipleridir. İnsan, özneye dönüştürme süreçlerine girerken, iktidar ilişkilerine de dâhil olur. Çünkü bireyleri özne yapan iktidar teknikleridir. Özne sözcüğünün taşıdığı bütün anlamlar, boyun eğdiren ve tabi kılan bir iktidar biçimi telkin etmektedir. Bundan dolayı, özneye dönüşme süreçlerine karşı mücadeleler söz konusudur. Özne, iktidar ve şiddet arasındaki ilişkinin nasıl kurulduğuna dair düşünen Foucault, öznesi olarak tanıtıldığımız deneyimlerin kurulmasını gerçekleştiren bir iktidar alanı olduğunu, şiddetin de modern iktidarın kurumsal ağı içerisinde gelişen öznellik deneyimleri çerçevesinde her yere sirayet ettiğini belirtmektedir. İktidarın kurumsal düzeyde, düzenleyici ve denetleyici mekanizmalar sayesinde toplumsal ağın en uç yerlerine kadar sirayet etmesiyle birlikte şiddet, normlar, tüzükler ve prosedürler aracılığıyla belirli bir kapatma içinde gelişmektedir. Ancak, Foucault, şiddetin, iktidarın etkili bir aracı olduğunu kabul etse de, iktidarın esasını oluşturmadığını belirtmektedir. Bu çalışmada, Foucault’nun kuramsal çözümlemelerinden hareketle, özne, iktidar ve şiddet arasındaki ilişkiyi nasıl ele aldığı tartışılacak, onun düşünsel serüveni açısından önemli olan bu kavramların kendi tarih anlayışı bağlamında bir çözümlemesi yapılacaktır. Ayrıca, modern iktidar ilişkilerinin dayatmış olduğu öznellik deneyimlerine ve inceltilmiş şiddet araçlarına karşı verilecek direnişin imkânları sorgulanacaktır. -/- . (shrink)
