Abū Ishāq al-Ṣaffār was one of scholars of the Western Qarakhānids’ period who followed the Kalām thought of al-Māturīdī (d. 333/944). His theological works Talkhīs al-adilla and Risāla fī al-kalām, his method in kalām, and frequent reference to his works by Ottoman and Arab scholars indicate that al-Ṣaffār is a respected and authorative Māturīdī theologian. The article focuses on his defense of the kalām. By adding a long introduction to Talkhīs about the naming, importance, and religious legitimacy of the (...) science of kalām, Saffār asserted that the kalām should be learned. When systematical vindication of the science of kalām is examined, it is understood that al-Ṣaffār is the first theologian who reserved a private and voluminous part for defensing the kalām among Ḥanafī-Māturīdīs. Even though he does not state its systematic, it can be understood that vindication of kalām in al-Ṣaffār divides into three parts as of explanation, demonstration and refutation. Al-Ṣaffār’s defending the science of kalām shows that there were opposite thoughts against kalām in the 4th/10th and 5th/11th centuries throughout in Transoxania. In this period Aṣḥāb al-Ḥadīth and Ikhwān al-Ṣafāʾ were the opposite fronts of kalām. In addition, he was trying to go beyond the oppositions of Ḥanafī jurists. His vindication is consistent and has scholarly depth because it is able to be against a strong opposition. -/- SUMMARY: Abū Ishāq Ibrahīm b. Ismāil Zāhid al-Ṣaffār al-Bukhārī is a scholar belonging to the Ḥanafī theological tradition which was improved by the contribution of Ḥanafī theologians who used thinking system of Abū Ḥanīfa (d. 150/767) as base and adopted Abū Manṣūr al-Māturīdī (d. 333/944) and his thoughts in historical process. The contents of his theological works Talkhīs al-adilla li-qawāʿid al-tawḥīd and Risāla fī al-Kalām, the method that he used, and references to his works made by Ottoman and Arab scholars indicate that he is an important Māturīdī theologian. The article focuses on his defense of the science of Kalām. -/- In Talkhīs al-adilla, there are two sections including the subject of naming, and importance and necessity of Kalām discipline. Here, the necessity of learning Kalām and its value are defended in detail. -/- Besides, rumors “Abū Ḥanīfa turned away from the science of Kalām in his doomsdays” and that “He prohibited to make occupation with Kalām completely” are evaluated. -/- When systematical vindication of the science of Kalām is examined, it is understood that al-Ṣaffār is the first theologian who reserved a private and voluminous part for defensing the Kalām among Ḥanafī Māturīdīs. Even if Abū Manṣūr al-Māturīdī, Abū al-Yusr al-Bazdawī (d. 493/1100) and Abū Muʿīn al-Nasafī (d. 508/1115) defend that the science of Kalām is not wrong for religion; yet, the vindication of Kalām does not take a place under a separate title and in a detailed manner in any of Māturīdī theologians works. -/- The method that al-Ṣaffār used when he is defending the science of Kalām, differs from strategy of Abū Ḥanīfa. While Abū Ḥanīfa has mentioned that there is a need for the science of Kalām under these new circumstances, al-Ṣaffār has defended theologians who were charged with being Ahl al-Bidaʿ, by trying to prove that the prophets especially the Prophet Ibrāhīm, even the Companions of the Prophet Muḥammad (Ṣaḥāba) and the Successors of the Companions (Tābiʿūn) scholars use their minds and make arguments in religious matters. In this respect, he emphasizes that the Qurʾān orders to think and discuss gently, not to be stay in silence: “And dispute with them, using what is best” (16.125-126). Therefore, he states that this discipline which took a mission to explain and defend the creed of Islam (ʿaqīda), cannot be characterized as an innovation (bidʿah) or illicit. -/- His vindication method can be defined as a more developed type of method that Abu’l-Ḥasan al-Ash’arī’s (d. 324/935) used in Risāla fī istiḥsān al-khawḍ fī ʿilm al-kalām. Even though he does not state its systematic, it can be understood that vindication of Kalām in al-Ṣaffār divides into three parts as of explanation, demonstration and refutation: -/- a) Explanation: Explaining the necessity and importance of the science of Kalām by giving information about its definition, names, value and place among other principles. -/- b) Demonstration: Revealing the religious basics of the science of Kalām from the Qurʾān, the Sunna of the Prophet Muḥammad, the Companions of the Prophet, and the Successors of the Companions thus specifying that it is legitimate for religion. -/- c) Refutation: Replying the claims having aim to weaken the value of Kalām principle and its religious legality. -/- Al-Ṣaffār describes ‘the science of Kalām’ as ‘Knowing the Real with the evidences which help to reach the absolute information’. By allocating the concept of 'Ḥaqq', he repeats the definition of Kalām as “it is to know God with certain evidences” in a part of his work, and “it is to know the principles of religion (uṣūl al-dīn) with certain evidences” in another part. He describes Kalām as “Knowing ḥaqq / God / uṣūl al-dīn by depending on evidence”, and tries to prove that it is wrong to consider a science which performs the stated duty, as illicit and abominable and thus turn away from it. -/- Al-Ṣaffār thinks that it is right to call this principle as ‘Kalām’ because of the certain evidences leading to the truth that this science has used. This thought was defended by other theologians as well. -/- For example, according to Saʿd al-Dīn Masʿūd al-Taftazānī (d. 792/1310) it seems like to say “This is the word (kalām), not the other knowings” by the way of the power of evidences used in Kalām.Thus, it is appropriate to give name Kalām for this science which based on certain evidences. -/- Al-Ṣaffār’s explanations revealed in scope of vindication of the Kalām are adopted by some of following scholars. Ḥusām al-Dīn al-Sighnāqī (d. 714/1314) in his book called al-Tasdīd sharḥ al-Tamhīd fī qawāʿid al-tawḥīd quotes Saffâr’s explanations as the same. -/- Al-Ṣaffār indicates that the method told in the Qurʾān is to reply questions about religion, beliefs and rejection instead of remaining in silence. The duty taken on by Kalām is this vindication activity performed by the prophets whose examples are described in the Qurʾān and which is legal and demanded. His way of thinking and vindication of the Kalām resembles that of Abū Manṣūr al-Māturīdī. Al-Māturīdī says, “Prophets and we were ordered to invite infidels to Islam. When this invitation happens, the respondents will ask for evidence and explanation, and discussion will be inevitable. Therefore, discussing and talking about subjects of Kalām is not objectionable”. -/- Thoughts of al-Māturīdī and al-Ṣaffār regarding the vindication of the Kalām were repeated by Nūr al-Dīn al-Ṣābūnī (d. 580/1184), and Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī (d. 606/1210) later. According to al-Ṣābūnī, the evidences put against deniers and especially the discussion made by the Prophet Ibrāhīm to defend his own belief, prove the legality of Kalām discipline. Likewise, according to al-Rāzī, the duty of Kalām is just an activity performed already in the Qurʾān and ordered to the prophets. At this point of view, since the prophets were leading to Kalām, banning this activity is nonsense. -/- According to al-Ṣaffār, the reason for why Abu Hanifa avoids his son Hammād from these discussions is that Abu Hanifa does not like discussions based on obstinate. Otherwise, it cannot be that Abū Ḥanīfa prohibits to learn Kalām and make discussion about Kalām. According to him, this behavior of Abū Ḥanīfa results from that people discussing with him are ignorant about the subject of Kalām, discussion turns to an obstinate, and coming to an end of discussion seems impossible. This comment of al-Ṣaffār is quoted in Miftāḥ al-saʿāda wa-miṣbāḥ al-siyāda by ʿIṣām al-Dīn Aḥmed b. Muṣṭafā Tashköprüzāde (d. 968/1561) and in Minaḥ al-rawḍ al-azhar fī sharḥ al-Fiqh al-akbar by ʿAlī b. Sulṭān Muḥammad al-Qārī (d. 1014/1606) as same as his words. -/- Al-Ṣaffār’s defending the science of Kalām shows that there were opposite thoughts against Kalām in the 4th/10th and 5th/11th centuries throughout in Transoxania.In this period Aṣḥāb al-Ḥadīth and Ikhwān al-Ṣafāʾ were the opposite fronts of Kalām. In addition, he was trying to go beyond the oppositions of Ḥanafī jurists (fuqahāʾ). Because some of the Ḥanafī jurists thought that Abū Ḥanīfa forsook occupation with the science of Kalām and even he prohibited his son to have interest in this discipline. But some of Ḥanafī theologians such as al-Māturīdī, al-Nasafī and al-Ṣaffār protested this thought which describes Abū Ḥanīfa as a banner for Kalām. -/- His vindication is consistent and has scholarly depth because it is able to be against a strong opposition. -/- His book Talkhīs al-adilla li-qawāʿid al-tawḥīd is a unique source in terms of containing vindication of the Kalām in detail and also influencing the approaches of the next period scholars. [his book discusses the theological views of Abū Isḥāq al-Ṣaffār d. 534/1139), within the framework of his comments on the meanings of Allah’s names, provided in his work titled Talkhīṣ al-adilla. Abū Isḥāq al-Ṣaffār is one of the Ḥanafite-Māturīdite scholars in the 6th/12th century. In his work titled Talkhīṣ al-adilla li-qawāʿid al-tawḥīd on kalām, he spared extensive space for al-asmāʾ al-husnā. Approximately one third of this work, published in two volumes, is devoted to al-asmāʾ al-husnā. An examination of the related section reveals that al-Ṣaffār explains many issues, particularly those related to the existence, unity and attributes of Allah, based on 175 al-asmāʾ al-husnā. He mentions some of the names that he does not include in the al-asmāʾ al-husnā section under separate headings. For example, the name al-Mutakallim is addressed within the context of the attribute of kalām and in relation to subjects, such as the khalq al-Qurʾān and i‘jaz al-Qurʾān. Upon the addition of these names to the list, the number names reaches 178. This means that half of the work deals with the subject of al-asmāʾ al-husnā. -/- al-Ṣaffār lists the divine names in alphabetical order and explains them semantically in the chapter of al-asmāʾ al-husnā. Then he goes on to clarify each divine name through a theological lens with a specific reference to the subject of kalām. In the pre-Saffar Ḥanafite-Māturīdite theological literature, there is no other work that addresses al-asmāʾ al-husnā in such an extensive way. -/- This book consists of three main sections. The first section titled “Methodological Framework”, elaborates on the focus, significance, purpose and method of the study, along with the sources used. The first part describes the political, social and religious status of Transoxiana (Mā-warāʾ al-Nahr) region and the cities of Bukhara and Marw, the sociocultural environment in which Saffar lived. The second chapter addresses various concepts, which promote the understanding of al-asmāʾ al-husnā, such as name, tasmiya, musammā, attribute and qualification in addition to the theological debates such as the number and iḥṣāʾ of al-asmāʾ al-husnā. Then, it provides information about the al-asmāʾ al-husnā literature produced in the pre- Ṣaffār period. The end of each chapter comes with a detailed table with the 178 divine names mentioned by al-Ṣaffār. In the third chapter, the author initially discusses the theological principles that al-Ṣaffār considered while explaining the essence of al-asmāʾ al-husnā. This section also determines and systematically categorizes the theological views and evaluations put forward by al-Ṣaffār while explaining the divine names in Talkhīṣ al-adilla. The tables with the divine names and the related discussions can be seen at the end of the discussion for each subject. The last section presents the conclusions reached, regarding the kalām method based on al-Ṣaffār’s understanding of the essence of al-asmāʾ al-husnā. The present study revealed that he made theological interpretations in 75% of the al-asmāʾ al-husnā and interpreted all theological issues ranging from the subjects of knowledge and existence to the Afterlife in connection with the al-asmāʾ al-husnā. Islamic legal maxims (qawāʿʿid fiqhiyyah) provide necessary basis for extracting legal injunctions on the unprecedented cases (fiqh al-nawāzil) and make it possible for the jurists to forego the need of memorizing copious fiqh treatises. In light of this fact, this article attempts to design a framework for harm elimination, utilizing the related legal maxims, which will be arguably of great use in developing an outlook that enables a person to tackle the many challenges he or she finds in the course (...) of removal of harm. After explaining the concept and definition of Islamic legal maxims in general, this research surveys in detail the universal legal maxim “harm must be eliminated”, covering its role and significance in the theories of fiqh and its scope and application in contemporary issues. Employing descriptive, analytical and critical methods, this study categorizes the legal maxims related to the harm elimination into three: (1) maxims related to prevention of harm before its occurrence, (2) maxims related to elimination of harm after it has taken place and (3) maxims related to minimization of harm if complete removal is impractical. Likewise, this research analyses the sub-maxims of harm elimination, discussing their legal bases, various purposes for which they operate, related uṣūlī principles and legal examples, providing at the end a flowchart that represents a sequence of five steps useful in the course of removal of harm. The passionate and staunch defence of logic of the controversial thinker Ibn Ḥazm, Abū Muḥammad ʿAlī b. Aḥmad b. Saʿīd of Córdoba (384-456/994-1064), had lasting consequences in the Islamic world. Indeed, his book Facilitating the Understanding of the Rules of Logic and Introduction Thereto, with Common Expressions and Juristic Examples (Kitāb al-Taqrīb li-ḥadd al-manṭiq wa-l-mudkhal ilayhi bi-l-alfāẓ al-ʿāmmiyya wa-l-amthila al-fiqhiyya), composed in 1025-1029, was well known and discussed during and after his time; and it paved the way for the studies (...) of his compatriots Ibn Bājjah (d. 1138), Ibn Ṭufayl (1185), and Ibn Rushd (1198), who each gave demonstrative reasoning a privileged place within the methods of attaining knowledge. Unfortunately, as too often in the history of science, Ibn Ḥazm’s innovative perspectives and contributions in logic have been overlooked or considered with an attitude of contempt. On the one hand, his work has been seen, at best, as promulgating the benefits of studying Aristotle’s logic, so that his contribution is assessed as more didactical than conceptual. And on the other hand, those who do examine his innovations often consider them to be mistaken. As indicated by Chejne (1984, p. 2) contempt towards the logical work of Ibn Ḥazm was also present in its reception by the Eastern philosophers who accused him of deviating from Aristotelian logic and of dabbling in things beyond his capability. However, a reassessment of his work on logic has since begun, by delving into the ways the thinker of Córdoba studied the links between deontic and modal qualification of propositions. In this context Lameer’s (2013) paper on the logical sources of Ibn Ḥazm is worth mentioning; the author (p. 417, footnote 1) observes that, although, strictly speaking, it was al-Fārābī who first drew the parallelism between deontic and modal concepts, it was Ibn Ḥazm who developed it and worked it out in a more precise manner. A primary aim of this paper is to help fill some of these gaps by stressing the role of the work of Ibn Ḥazm in developing a notion of deontic necessity deeply rooted in legal normativity, and in explicitly discussing the transference between deontic and modal concepts. According to our view; the basic units of Islamic deontic logic are what we might call, indulging in terminological anachronism, heteronomous imperatives. As it turns out, the heteronomy of imperatives within Islamic legal systems contrasts with those of the purely moral realm, which seem to be closer to an autonomous conception of moral law. There it concurs again with Leibniz’s proposal to define obligatory as “what is necessary for a good person to do”. In the present paper, we will focus on the heteronomous imperatives of legal systems rather than on the imperatives of the purely moral realm. In this context, the work of Ibn Ḥazm extends the parallelism between the necessity of events and that of human actions stressed by his predecessors. According to our understanding, Ibn Ḥazm’s parallelism can be rendered explicit formally by means of a conditional (or hypothetical) structure shared by both deontic and modal propositions. Moreover, this structure makes apparent that this parallelism displays an underlying system of “degrees”. Indeed, while in the domain of events, given some conditions, it makes sense to distinguish between an event that is more likely to happen than another. Ibn Ḥazm speaks of near and distant possibility (such as the higher degree of likelihood of rain, given the condensation of clouds in December, and its lower degree, when the condensation occurs in summer); and, in the domain of actions, the Islamic notion of weighting actions determines degrees of virtue (or of legal and moral value). So whereas the degree of virtue of performing a forbidden act as determined by the distribution of sanction and reward is 0, we obtain the same value by pondering the likelihood of an impossible event to take place. Furthermore, as discussed in section II.3.2, the system of values at work in the parallelism can be seen as opening the way to a more direct correspondence. Thus, while in the realm of nature, likelihood of occurrence of an event is dependent upon the conditions specific to the occurrence of that event; while, in the realm of jurisprudence, likelihood of performing an action is dependent upon the distribution of reward and sanction specific to that action (being that, given the choice to perform or not perform a given action, those that will be rewarded are more likely to be performed than those that are not). According to this perspective, the point of the parallelism is that both deontic and modal qualifications measure the degree of an action or event to become actual; that is – indulging once more in anachronism (but this time from the Leibnizian background) – the degree measures how feasible (facile) an action or event may be. This suggests that Ibn Ḥazm’s perspectives already herald the links to probability and possibility explored by Leibniz six centuries later – see for example Leibniz’s (1671, A VI, I, p. 424-26) use of probability in the context of conditional right. Nevertheless, it also shows a crucial difference to the approach developed in the Elementa Jura Naturalis: whereas Leibniz’s studies seek to define what is to be just or virtuous, the logical system of deontic imperatives within Islamic jurisprudence presupposes that what is to be virtuous has already been settled. Determining what is to be virtuous is not achieved by logical reasoning within the system of legal jurisprudence, but by delving into the higher objectives of the Sharīʿa. While developing our point, we will delve into the logical structure of the heteronomous imperatives. This distinguishes our contribution from the existing literature, such as the papers of Chejne (1984), Lameer (2014), and Guerrero (1997, 2010, 2014), which do not provide a logical analysis of the deontic concepts put into work by Ibn Ḥazm. The true antecedent to the present paper is the work of Farid Zidani (2007, 2015), who, so far as we know, was the first to undertake such a task. Some of our own developments and general epistemological thoughts go beyond Ibn Ḥazm’s framework and motivations; mainly those contained in sections II.3.2 and IV. However, according to our view, these reflections suggest that Ibn Ḥazm’s approach has the substance for a broader and deeper exploration of the logic of norms. The paper is structured as follows:I.Ibn Ḥazm’s Logic of Heteronomous Imperatives. After presenting some extracts of the relevant text, we proceed by providing a formal reconstruction of the five forms of deontic modalities. II. A Landmark in the History of the Logical Analysis of Norms. Duties and Modalities. In this section, we study the transferences from deontic to modal necessity and possibility. We briefly compare the deontic system of Islamic Jurisprudence with that of Leibniz.III. Leibniz and Hypothetical Imperatives in Law.IV. Beyond Ibn Ḥazm: Conclusions and the Work Ahead. We will conclude the paper by discussing briefly some conceptual points that distinguish the logic of heteronomous imperatives from contemporary deontic logic. Our final words will discuss deontic-modal parallelism in the context of Ibn Ḥazm’s rejection of reasoning by conjecture and what we call “the internalization of nature.”. (shrink)

In this paper, we aim to trace the origin of the systematic cross-cultural variations in referential intuitions by investigating the effects of perspective taking on people’s responses in the Gödel-style probes through two novel experiments. Here is how we will proceed. In section 2, we first briefly introduce the MMNS (2004) study, and then critically review the two relevant studies conducted by Sytsma and colleagues (i.e., Sytsma and Livengood 2011; Sytsma et al. 2015). In section 3, we introduce the literature (...) on cross-cultural variation in perspective taking in cultural psychology, which together with the conjecture of perspectival ambiguity leads to the hypothesis of our current study. In sections 4 and 5, two new experiments on how perspective taking affects people’s responses in hypothetical stories modelled on the Gödel thought experiment will be reported. Based on the empirical findings, in section 6 we argue that the robust cross-cultural variations thus far observed in people’s responses to the Gödel cases are largely attributable to culturally specific perspective-taking strategies, which provides new support for the proposal previously made by Sytsma and Livengood (2011). The implications of the experimental results for the ongoing work of testing the theories of refence of names and for the current metaphilosophical debate on the robustness of philosopher’s intuitions are also drawn in this section. Finally, the major conclusions and contributions of the current study are highlighted in section 7. (shrink)

The past eighteen years witnessed the rapid development of experimental philosophy of language. Adopting a bibliometric approach, this study examines the research trends and status quo of this burgeoning field based on a corpus of 237 publications retrieved from PhilPapers. It is observed that experimental philosophy of language has undergone three stages, the initiation stage, the development stage, and the extension stage, across which there is a clear upward trend in the annual number of publications. Michael Devitt, Edouard Machery, John (...) Turri, Nat Hansen, et al., are found to be the most productive philosophers, testifying their leading positions in this field. Journals, instead of books, are the major homes of works in this area. The analysis also yields a list of influential works, including the seminal work “Semantics, Cross-cultural Style” and other significant publications on the semantics of various types of expressions. Relatedly, the major research themes are found to include not only intuitions about the reference of proper names, but also a wide array of philosophically and linguistically interesting issues like the meaning of color adjectives, epistemic modals, and predicates of personal taste, the norms of assertions and the essence of lies, etc. These findings showcase that experimental philosophy of language has broadened the research territory and offered deep insights into central issues of philosophy of language that are beyond the reach of the conventional armchair methodology. Wenn man bedenkt, dass Immanuel Kant die klassischen Gottesbeweise schon als schlechthin falsch zermalmte, ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass Christian Wolffs Religionsphilosophie, die diese Gottesbeweise wiederaufgenommen zu haben scheint, weniger Interesse erweckt hat als zum Beispiel seine Moralphilosophie. Tatsächlich wird Christian Wolffs Theologia naturalis in jüngster Zeit auch als Paradebeispiel für die so genannte „gemäßigte“ Aufklärungsphilosophie angesehen. Denn er suchte nicht nur die Harmonie zwischen vernünftiger Gotteserkenntnis und christlicher Offenbarung nachzuweisen, sondern auch die Vertreter der „radikalen“ Aufklärungsphilosophie zu bekämpfen. Auf (...) der anderen Seite wurde Wolff selbst damals als Feind der christlichen Religion auf die Anklagebank gesetzt, wie Spinoza und Hobbes. Sein Versuch, die Offenbarung zu rechtfertigen, scheint auch mit den aufklärerischen Anforderungen seiner Philosophie widersprüchlich zu sein. Es stellt sich die Frage, ob Wolffs affirmative Stellungnahme zur christlichen Tradition mit seinem autonomen Rationalismus inhaltlich verträglich ist. Angesichts des scheinbar widersprüchlichen Zuges der Philosophie Wolffs und der gegensätzlichen Interpretationen von seiner Philosophie sind Detailstudien vonnöten. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird versucht, Wolffs Argumentationsstrategie in der natürlichen Theologie und der natürlichen Religion genau zu prüfen, um die Frage beantworten zu können: Wie wendete Christian Wolff seine philosophische Methode auf die Theologie an, um es für möglich zu halten, dass der Gebrauch des Verstandes unbeschränkt wird und zugleich dies der Religion nicht schaden würde? In den vier Kapiteln dieser Arbeit werden der Wunderbeweis, das Verhältnis der natürlichen Religion zur Moral, die Spinozismus-Kritik und der Beweis der Offenbarungsreligion bei Christian Wolff behandelt, da ihm damals vorgeworfen wurde, dass seine Philosophie das biblische Wunder, die natürliche und geoffenbarte Religion abgeschafft und den Weg der Radikalen beschritten hätte. Als Ergebnis wird sich herausstellen, dass der Beweis der Wahrheit der Offenbarungsreligion, um die Begierde der Christen nach dem Naturgesetz zu bestimmen, den roten Faden in Christian Wolffs Lebenswerk ausmacht. Wolffs Argumente für die natürliche und geoffenbarte Religion sind einerseits durchaus vereinbar mit den Forderungen seiner philosophischen Methode. Seine Gegner haben mit Recht in diesen Argumenten das größte Risiko für die Offenbarungsreligion gesehen. Andererseits hat Christian Wolff die Offenbarungsreligion nicht mit einer bloßen apologetischen Absicht verteidigt. Er war davon sehr überzeugt, dass sein System diese minimale Anforderung erfüllen konnte. Ihm lag mehr an der Frage, wie die christlichen Glaubenssätze die Begierde der Christen bestimmen, sodass sie auch nach dem Naturgesetz handeln können. (shrink)

Allelopathy is an important biological phenomenon in exotic plant invasions. Studies about this phenomenon can help us to understand how plant interactions influence plant colony and ecosystem functioning. Both alligator weed (Alternanthera philoxeroides, Ap) and crofton weed (Eupatorium adenophorum, Ea) are important destructive exotic species in China. Their allelopathic effects on native plant species are well documented. However, whether alligator weed and crofton weed antagonize each other regarding plant growth? There is largely unknown currently. Here we report that the leaf (...) extract from crofton weed possesses the negative effect on the growth of alligator weed. The results showed that root growth of alligator weed could be seriously inhibited by aqueous extract from crofton weed, exhibited as no root or a few roots if only. Consistent with the inhibition of root growth, we observed changes of physiological and biochemical parameters in treated alligator weed. The chlorophyll content, the root activity and the acetolactate synthase (ALS) activity were significantly decreased; while the rate of superoxide anion (O2-), the malondialdehyde (MDA) content, the peroxidase (POD) activity, and the shikimic acid content were remarkably increased in the treated alligator weed plants. These physiological analyzes suggested that the main allelopathic effects of crofton weed were mainly through affecting the integrity of cell membrane and the activity of the key enzymes. Further, these data also imply that one exotic species has the potential value to be used in bio-control of the other exotic species. (shrink)

In this study, after a short introductory information on the etymology, origin, and transition of botanical knowledge in Medieval Islamic Civilisation, we made a comparison of illustrated botanical works in Maghreb and Masriq through two illustrated books. We studied on randomly selected illustrations from Kitab al- Hashaish at-Tibb li-Diskuridus al-Aynzarbi translated by Istefan ibn Basil & Hunayn ibn Ishaq from Dioscorides’ Materia Medica, and Kitab al-Adwiyat al-Mufradat of Abu Ja’far Ahmad al-Ghafiqi, the Andalusian physician, pharmacist, and herbalist. We made comparisons (...) on the illustrations of nine plants and one lichen, chosen from Codex Osler of al-Ghafiqi, and Codices Ayasofya of Istefan-Hunayn, with real photos of plants and lichen, via the methods used currently in the science-art of botanical illustration. Para ello, hemos analizado una serie de ilustraciones, elegidas al azar, extraídas del Libro de plantas medicinales de Dioscórides por Anazarba, traducción de Istefan ibn Basil y Hunayn ibn Ishaq del tratado De materia medica de Dioscórides, y del Libro de los medicamentos simples de Abu Ya'far Ahmad al-Gafiqi, médico, farmacéutico y herbolario andalusí. Hemos llevado a cabo comparaciones de las ilustraciones de nueve plantas y un liquen, escogidos del códice Osler de al-Gafiqi y de los códices Ayasofya de Istefan-Hunayn, con fotografías reales de especímenes de dichas especies, acudiendo a los métodos aplicados actualmente en el arte y ciencia de la ilustración botánica. Tras este «método ilustrativo botánico», podemos concluir que, aunque llevadas a cabo en el mismo siglo, las copias de ilustraciones de al-Gafiqi han resultado más precisas que las de la traducción de Istefan-Hunayn. Yöntem olarak literatür taraması yapılmış, farklı kurumların katalogları taranmış ve alandaki akademisyenlerle görüşülmüştür. Keempat metode itu adalah metode tafsir ijmali (global), metode tafsir tahlili (analitik), metode tafsir maudhu’i (tematik), dan metode tafsir muqaran (komparatif). Metode-metode ini dijelaskan satu persatu meliputi difinisi, kelebihan dan kekurangan, serta contoh (...) hasil penafsirannya. The knowledge problem is based on the questions of what people can know, how they can know, and how they can reach the all-encompassing knowledge of the object. These problems have had an important place in the history of thought from the classical period to the contemporary period. In the history of Islamic thought, the problem of knowledge has been discussed as a fundamental issue. In this article, we will examine how Shihāb ad-Dīn al-Suhrawardī (d. 587/1191), an Islamic philosopher who (...) lived in the 12th century, handled the problem of know- ledge. Suhrawardī deals with and criticizes the conceptual knowledge, which is the knowing as the philosophers called Peripatetic. The conceptual knowledge, which is defined as the occurrence of an image of something in the mind, suggests that in order to know something, it is necessary to have an image of that thing. Such type of knowledge, according to Suhrawardī, is far from giving the essence of the object because it is a type of knowledge which realized through an image or sense data. Rather, he proposes knowledge by presence, a type of knowledge that is acquired through direct cognition of reality. In knowledge by presence, one knows something directly without any prior knowledge and any mediation such as form or representation. Self-knowledge is a type of information obtained through knowledge by presence. With the thesis of knowledge by presence, Suhrawardī tries to show that Aristotle’s epistemology cannot give exact knowledge and aims to show th. (shrink)

New methods for reading and understanding the religious sources have been applied along with the modern period. Some issues, that have already gained a certain shape in the classical period, have been discussed again as a result of the application of new methods and thus a number of conclusions which exceed the boundaries framed by Ijma (consensus of the Ummah) were reached. In the course of time, these discussions were not limited to transactions [al-Mu`amalat] but also expanded to worship (al-'Ibadah) (...) and faith (al-aqāʾid) issues. One of these debate topics is the issue whether it is mandatory for the Jews and Christians (Ahl al-Kitāb) to believe in and follow prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the last holy book al-Quran to be on the straight path and to reach salvation. The detection and analysis of these historical breaking points in the modern period is of importance. To analyse these breaking points in the interpretation of the verses, two tafseers which reflect the traditional method and understanding (at-Tibyan and Bilmen’s Tafseer) are compared with two other tafseers (Çağdaş Tefsir and Kuran Yolu) which are written in the last 40 years period. The paper presents a cognitive, educational and philosophical strategy, sometimes called reconstructionism (as it denotes e orts to reconstruct knowledge and science), proposed by a number of Muslim authors as a proper reaction to modern science. The pre‐modern background for this reaction is highlighted. Two examples are given: the Islamic science idea by Seyyed Hossein Nasr, and the Islamization of knowledge project by Ismail Raji al‐Faruqi. Their critique of Euro‐Atlantic science is based on its perceived e ects on society and (...) morality (secularization, imperialism and colonialism, cruelty towards labora‐ tory animals, etc.) as well as on tawhid, the Islamic idea of unity. Their main postulates are to stop calling modern science objective and universal because this is a purely Western product; to produce an alternative indigenous science; to make science conform with Islamic doctrine and ethics; to reintroduce holism and sapiential aspects of knowledge into science. Critical voices, both Muslim and non‐Muslim, are quoted. All in all, reconstructionism is evaluated as a movement understandable to some extent but ine cient and idiosyncratic, unable to start objective and interesting research programmes on its own. Este artículo explora la relación entre la filosofía del límite de Eugenio Trías y el sufismo de Ibn ʿArabī. En primer lugar, pretende explicar la función de la filosofía de la religión en el sistema triasiano y por qué el maestro andalusí ocupa un lugar privilegiado en ella. Segundo, se ocupa de algunos aspectos esenciales de la doctrina akbarí que la filosofía del límite obtura, como la declaración de la unidad del Ser (tawḥīd), la conjugación de lo exotérico y (...) lo esotérico, la superación de la propia creencia, el camino de la servidumbre (ʿubūdiyya), el tránsito de la pasión súbita de amor (hawā) al amor espiritual (ḥubb), la caballería espiritual (futuwwa) y la morada de la no-morada (maqām lā maqām), los cuales comparten un nexo común: el trascendimiento de lo egoico y el interés en el otro en tanto otro. Finalmente, se defenderá que la obturación triasiana se debe tanto al influjo de Henry Corbin, como sobre todo, a las propias limitaciones de su proyecto filosófico, para el que el Ibn ʿArabī ausente constituye una suerte de sombra. There is increasing concern about “surveillance capitalism,” whereby for-profit companies generate value from data, while individuals are unable to resist (Zuboff 2019). Non-profits using data-enabled surveillance receive less attention. Higher education institutions (HEIs) have embraced data analytics, but the wide latitude that private, profit-oriented enterprises have to collect data is inappropriate. HEIs have a fiduciary relationship to students, not a narrowly transactional one (see Jones et al, forthcoming). They are responsible for facets of student life beyond education. In addition to (...) classrooms, learning management systems, and libraries, HEIs manage dormitories, gyms, dining halls, health facilities, career advising, police departments, and student employment. HEIs collect and use student data in all of these domains, ostensibly to understand learner behaviors and contexts, improve learning outcomes, and increase institutional efficiency through “learning analytics” (LA). ID card swipes and Wi-Fi log-ins can track student location, class attendance, use of campus facilities, eating habits, and friend groups. Course management systems capture how students interact with readings, video lectures, and discussion boards. Application materials provide demographic information. These data are used to identify students needing support, predict enrollment demands, and target recruiting efforts. These are laudable aims. However, current LA practices may be inconsistent with HEIs’ fiduciary responsibilities. HEIs often justify LA as advancing student interests, but some projects advance primarily organizational welfare and institutional interests. Moreover, LA advances a narrow conception of student interests while discounting privacy and autonomy. Students are generally unaware of the information collected, do not provide meaningful consent, and express discomfort and resigned acceptance about HEI data practices, especially for non-academic data (see Jones et al. forthcoming). The breadth and depth of student information available, combined with their fiduciary responsibility, create a duty that HEIs exercise substantial restraint and rigorous evaluation in data collection and use. One of the ṣaḥābīs of Prophet Muḥammad is ʿUrwa b. Masʿūd from the Ṭāʾif tribe of Thaqīf. He belongs to the Ahlâf part of the Thaqīf tribe and he is the ruler of this part. ʿUrwa’s ancestry is known without any controversy until Kasî (Thaqīf). According to a narrative his epithet was Abū Yaʿfur and another of his epithet was Abū Masʿūd. Father of ʿUrwa an important person too. He is one of the leaders of his tribe and he commanded (...) his part (Aḥlāf) in wars of Fijār. Mother of ʿUrwa is Subay’a bt. ʿAbd Shams from Banū Umayya. In this way ʿUrwa has kinship both with Banū Umayya and Prophet Muḥammad. So ʿUrwa has a very important position because of his lineage, his mother and father. Thefore, his connections with Mecca and Quraysh strengthens his position. In our sources there is no information about his dates of birth and death. It is likely to be over middle age when he became a muslim, considering that he was the leader of his tribe and his son become a muslim after he died. There is too little information about weddings of ʿUrwa. According to narratives, he had ten wives before becoming Muslim. After becoming a Muslim Prophet Muḥammad warned from him to prefer four out of ten wives. One of his four wives is the daughter of Abū Sufyān. Howev-er, there is no information about the names of his wives. Names of his sons: ʿĀṣim, Abū Murra, Abū Mulayḥ, Dāwūd, Hammām and Hishām and names of his daughters: Umm Saʿīd (married with Ḥaẓrat ʿAlī) and Ḥalīma. We could see he served as embassy before the treaty of Hudaybiyah. His embassy duty shows us the superiority of his position. Also, this embassy duty was very effective at peace negotiations. He mentioned kinship relations which connects about Mecca. He said that it could be beneficial to talk to Prophet Muḥammad himself. The Meccans mentioned about their trust in ʿUrwa. During the time of his embassy, he expressed that both sides should be away from war. In this context, he told the Meccans: The people around Prophet Muḥammad are very loyal to him and he told to Prophet Muḥammad: People around him could disintegrate easily. This mission shows us he is intelligent, respectable and had high persuasion skills. ʿUrwa, observed loyalty of ṣaḥābīs to Prophet Muḥammad. He confessed this loyalty can not be for any ruler. This observa-tion probably affected ʿUrwa’s conversion to Islam. Because of the conquest of Meccah and the events that followed, the people of Ṭāʾif were very worried. Because of this reason people of Ṭāʾif took part in the side of Hawāzin’s and they bat-tled with Muslims. In this time they sent ʿUrwa b. Masʿūd and Ghaylān b. Salama to the city of D̲j̲aras̲h̲ of Yemen, to learn about some war machines and techniques. Therefore they did not join wars of Hunayn and Ṭāʾif. Prophet Muḥammad ended the siege of Ṭāʾif and went to Medina. Meanwhile, ʿUrwa and his friend returned from Yemen. According to narratives when the Prophet Muḥammad returned Medina or he was way in Medina ʿUrwa visited him and became Muslim. Some people tell about the date of ʿUrwa’s being Muslim at before or after Abū Bakr’s emirate of Hadj. However, when the narrations are examined, it can be said he became Muslim after four or five months from Prophet’s siege of Ṭāʾif and before three or four months from Tabūk expedition of Rabīʿ al-awwal or “Rabīʿ al-ākhir” (July or August) in the year 9/630. As for the conversion of ʿUrwa, basic sources report that “Allah, inspired Islam to the heart of ʿUrwa and he changed his situation. He went to the Messenger of Allah and he became Muslim.” They do not give a specific reason. But after this period the narratives tell the reason for ʿUrwa’s becoming a Muslim as due to an experience he had while travelling to Najrān for trade. In this travel, two mysterious young girls and the priest in Najrān said the last prophet came and ʿUrwa must be subject to him and ʿUrwa became Muslim after he returned. But this narrative is prob-lematic with regard to evidence and text. After being Muslim, ʿUrwa wanted permission from the Prophet to invite his tribe to accept Islam. The prophet did not want to accept this at first. Because the people of Ṭāʾif had an arro-gant stance against Islam, and he said that the people of Thaqīf could kill ʿUrwa. Eventually ʿUrwa went to his hometown with permission of Prophet and invited people to Islam and they did not accept this invitation and cursed ʿUrwa. The next morning ʿUrwa read adhan of fajr and people of Ṭāʾif killed him. ʿUrwa b. Masʿūd was likened to Prophet Jesus by the Prophet Muḥammad. It is generally accept-ed that ʿUrwa b. Masʿūd el-Thaqafī is “one of the biggest from two cities” expressed in sūra Zukhruf. Only two weak narrations were reported of Urwa who could live as a Muslim for a few days and was matyred by his tribe. (shrink)

Dâwûd al-Qarisî (Dâvûd al-Karsî) was a versatile and prolific 18th century Ottoman scholar who studied in İstanbul and Egypt and then taught for long years in various centers of learning like Egypt, Cyprus, Karaman, and İstanbul. He held high esteem for Mehmed Efendi of Birgi (Imâm Birgivî/Birgili, d.1573), out of respect for whom, towards the end of his life, Karsî, like Birgivî, occupied himself with teaching in the town of Birgi, where he died in 1756 and was buried next to (...) Birgivî. Better known for his following works on Arabic language and rhetoric and on the prophetic traditions (hadith): Sharḥu uṣûli’l-ḥadîth li’l-Birgivî; Sharḥu’l-Ḳaṣîdati’n-nûniyya (two commentaries, in Arabic and Turkish); Şarḥu’l-Emsileti’l-mukhtalifa fi’ṣ-ṣarf (two commentaries, in Arabic and Turkish); Sharḥu’l-Binâʾ; Sharḥu’l-ʿAvâmil; and Sharḥu İzhâri’l-asrâr, Karsî has actually composed textbooks in quite different fields. Hence the hundreds of manuscript copies of his works in world libraries. Many of his works were also recurrently printed in the Ottoman period. One of the neglected aspects of Karsî is his identity as a logician. Although he authored ambitious and potent works in the field of logic, this aspect of him has not been subject to modern studies. Even his bibliography has not been established so far (with scattered manuscript copies of his works and incomplete catalogue entries). This article primarily and in a long research based on manuscript copies and bibliographic sources, identifies twelve works on logic that Karsî has authored. We have clarified the works that are frequently mistaken for each other, and, especially, have definitively established his authorship of a voluminous commentary on al-Kâtibî’s al-Shamsiyya, of which commentary a second manuscript copy has been identified and described together with the other copy. Next is handled his most famous work of logic, the Sharhu Îsâghûcî, which constitutes an important and assertive ring in the tradition of commentaries on Îsâghûcî. We describe in detail the nine manuscript copies of this work that have been identified in various libraries. The critical text of Karsî’s Sharhu Îsâghûcî, whose composition was finished on 5 March 1745, has been prepared based on the following four manuscripts: (1) MS Kayseri Raşid Efendi Kütüphanesi, No. 857, ff.1v-3v, dated 1746, that is, only one year after the composition of the work; (2) MS Bursa İnebey Yazma Eser Kütüphanesi, Genel, No.794B, ff.96v-114v, dated 1755; (3) MS Millet Kütüphanesi, Ali Emiri Efendi Arapça, No. 1752, ff.48v-58r, dated 1760; (4) MS Beyazıt Yazma Eser Kütüphanesi, Beyazıt, No. 3129, ff.41v-55v, dated 8 March 1772. While preparing the critical text, we have applied the Center for Islamic Studies (İslam Araştırmaları Merkezi, İSAM)’s method of optional text choice. The critical text is preceded by a content analysis. Karsî is well aware of the preceding tradition of commentary on Îsâghûcî, and has composed his own commentary as a ‘simile’ or alternative to the commentary by Mollâ Fanârî which was famous and current in his own day. Karsî’s statement “the commentary in one day and one night” is a reference to Mollâ Fanârî who had stated that he started writing his commentary in the morning and finished it by the evening. Karsî, who spent long years in the Egyptian scholarly and cultural basin, adopted the religious-sciences-centered ‘instrumentalist’ understanding of logic that was dominant in the Egypt-Maghrib region. Therefore, no matter how famous they were, he criticized those theoretical, long, and detailed works of logic which mingled with philosophy; and defended and favored authoring functional and cogent logic texts that were beneficial, in terms of religious sciences, to the seekers of knowledge and the scholars. Therefore, in a manner not frequently encountered in other texts of its kind, he refers to the writings and views of Muhammad b. Yûsuf al-Sanûsî (d.1490), the great representative of this logical school in the Egyptian-Maghrib region. Where there is divergence between the views of the ‘earlier scholars’ (mutaqaddimûn) like Ibn Sînâ and his followers and the ‘later scholars’ (muta’akhkhirûn), i.e., post-Fakhr al-dîn al-Râzî logicians, Karsî is careful to distance himself from partisanship, preferring sometimes the views of the earliers, other times those of the laters. For instance, on the eight conditions proposed for the realization of contradiction, he finds truth to be with al-Fârâbî, who proposed “unity in the predicative attribution” as the single condition for the realization of contradiction. Similarly, on the subject matter of Logic, he tried to reconcile the mutaqaddimûn’s notion of ‘second intelligibles’ with the muta’akhkhirûn’s notion of ‘apprehensional and declarational knowledge,’ suggesting that not much difference exists between the two, on the grounds that both notions are limited to the aspect of ‘known things that lead to the knowledge of unknown things.’ Karsî asserts that established and commonly used metaphors have, according to the verifying scholars, signification by correspondence (dalâlat al-mutâbaqah), adding also that it should not be ignored that such metaphors may change from society to society and from time to time. Karsî also endorses the earlier scholars’ position concerning the impossibility of quiddity (mâhiyya) being composed of two co-extensive parts, and emphasizes that credit should not be given to later scholars’ position who see it possible. According to the verifying scholars (muhaqqîqûn), it is possible to make definition (hadd) by mentioning only difference (fasl), in which case it becomes an imperfect definition (hadd nâqis). He is of the opinion that the definition of the proposition (qadiyya) in al-Taftâzânî’s Tahdhîb is clearer and more complete: “a proposition is an expression that bears the possibility of being true or false”. He states that in the division of proposition according to quantity what is taken into consideration is the subject (mawdû‘) in categorical propositions, and the temporal aspect of the antecedent (muqaddam) in hypothetical propositions. As for the unquantified, indefinite proposition (qadiyya muhmalah), Karsî assumes that if it is not about the problems of the sciences, then it is virtually/potentially a particular proposition (qadiyya juz’iyyah); but if it is about the problems of the sciences, then it is virtually/potentially a universal proposition (qadiyya kulliyyah). This being the general rule about the ambiguous (muhmal) propositions, he nevertheless contends that, because its subject (mawdû‘) is negated, it is preferable to consider a negative ambiguous (sâliba muhmalah) proposition like “human (insân) is not standing” to be a virtually/potentially universal negative (sâliba kulliyyâh) proposition. He states that a disjunctive hypothetical proposition (shartiyya al-munfasila) that is composed of more than two parts/units is only seemingly so, and that in reality it cannot be composed of more than two units. Syllogism (qiyâs), according to Karsî, is the ultimate purpose (al-maqsad al-aqsâ) and the most valuable subject-matter of the science of Logic. For him, the entire range of topics that are handled before this one are only prolegomena to it. This approach of Karsî clearly reveals how much the ‘demonstration (burhân)-centered’ approach of the founding figures of the Muslim tradition of logic like al-Fârâbî and Ibn Sînâ has changed. al-Abharî, in his Îsâghûjî makes no mention of ‘conversion by contradiction’ (‘aks al-naqîd). Therefore, Karsî, too, in his commentary, does not touch upon the issue. However, in his Îsâghûjî al-jadîd Karsî does handle the conversion by contradiction and its rules. Following the method of Îsâghûjî, in his commentary Karsî shortly touches on the four figures (shakl) of conjuctive syllogism (qiyâs iqtirânî) and their conditions, after which he passes to the first figure (shakl), which is considered ‘the balance of the sciences’ (mi‘yâr al-‘ulûm), explaining the four moods (darb) of it. In his Îsâghûjî al-jadîd, however, Karsî handles all the four figures (shakl) with all their related moods (darb), where he speaks of fife moods (darb) of the fourth figure (shakl). The topic of ‘modal propositions’ (al-muwajjahât) and of ‘modal syllogism’ (al-mukhtalitât), both of which do not take place in the Îsâghûjî, are not mentioned by Karsî as well, either in his commentary on Îsâghûjî or in his Îsâghûjî al-jadîd. Karsî proposes that the certainties (yaqîniyyât), of which demonstration (burhân) is made, have seven, not six, divisions. After mentioning (1) axioms/first principles (awwaliyyât), (2) observata/sensuals (mushâhadât), (3) experta/empiricals (mujarrabât), (4) acumenalia (hadthiyyât), (5) testata (mutawâtirât), and (6) instictives (fitriyyât), that is, all the ‘propositions accompanied by their demonstrations,’ Karsî states that these six divisions, which do not need research and reflection (nazar), are called badîhiyyât (self-evidents), and constitute the foundations (usûl) of certainties (yaqîniyyât). As the seventh division he mentions (7) the nazariyyât (theoreticals), which are known via the badîhiyyât, end up in them, and therefore convey certainty (yaqîn). For Karsî, the nazariyyât/theoreticals, which constitute the seventh division of yaqîniyyât/certainties, are too numerous, and constitute the branches (far‘) of yaqîniyyât. Every time the concept of ‘Mughâlata’ (sophistry) comes forth in the traditional sections on the five arts usually appended to logic works, Karsî often gives examples from what he sees as extreme sûfî sayings, lamenting that these expressions are so widespread and held in esteem. He sometimes criticizes these expressions. However, it is observed that he does not reject tasawwuf in toto, but excludes from his criticism the mystical views and approaches of the truth-abiding (ahl al-haqq), shârî‘â-observant (mutasharri‘) leading sufis who have reached to the highest level of karâmah. Resumo: Sabe-se que a pecuária é uma parcela do agronegócio que move a economia do país, e incluso está a produção leiteira, que tem, a cada ano seu desenvolvimento elevado, de forma em que é priorizado a eficiência no aumento de sua produção, com o objetivo de suprir a demanda, e a maior rentabilidade do produtor. Diante disso, medidas de manejo reprodutivo e alimentar são adotadas, sendo estas capazes de elevar a produtividade com o menor custo possível. O trabalho objetivou (...) pautar acerca do conhecimento sobre o manejo nutricional correto e escore corporal, que afetam diretamente a produtividade do animal, o conhecimento acerca do ciclo reprodutivo de vacas, expondo a detecção de estro, bem como metodologias eficazes aplicadas na reprodução, e práticas de bem estar, que, quando ausente, é apontado como um dos precursores da ineficiência reprodutiva. Abstract: It is known that livestock is a part of agribusiness that drives the country's economy, and is even milk production, which has, every year, its high development, so that it is prioritizing efficiency in increasing its production, with the objective of supplying the demand, and the greater producer profitability. Therefore, reproductive and food management measures are adopted, being able to increase productivity with the lowest possible cost. The work aimed guide about knowledge about correct nutritional management and body score, which affect directly the animal's productivity, knowledge about the reproductive cycle of cows, exposing estrus detection, as well as effective methodologies applied in reproduction, and practices of well-being, which, when absent, is pointed out as one of the precursors of inefficiency reproductive. -/- IFPE – Campus Belo Jardim Curso Técnico em Agropecuária -/- AVICULTURA: ANATOMIA DA GALINHA -/- AVICULTURA Anatomia básica da galinha -/- INTRODUÇÃO -/- A galinha é um animal vertebrado de sangue quente, parente evoluído dos répteis. Embora haja semelhanças entre ambas as espécies (aves e répteis), também existem grandes diferenças. Os répteis são seres pecilotérmicos, isto é, possuem sangue frio, o que significa que sua temperatura corporal não é regulada pelo seu próprio corpo para uma temperatura específica e, portanto, (...) é a temperatura do ambiente que geralmente a regula. Em contrapartida, as galinhas são homeotérmicas, elas possuem o sangue quente, o que significa que sua temperatura corporal é relativamente alta e, geralmente, quase constante. As galinhas, como qualquer outra ave, também são endotérmicas, ou seja, possuem a capacidade de gerar calor profundo, através dos nutrientes, para aumentar a temperatura do corpo. Em geral, as aves possuem uma média de 42 °C de temperatura corporal, o que é ideal para sua fisiologia normal, no entanto, quando estão em ambientes mais quentes as mesmas conseguem baixar sua temperatura através dos movimentos de batimento das asas para a expulsão do calor. Tanto os répteis quanto as galinhas põem ovos, ou seja, são animais ovíparos. Esses ovos são incubados, isto é, chocados com o fim de facilitar o desenvolvimento do feto embrião do corpo. O período de incubação dos ovos da galinha é de 21 dias. No entanto, a fêmea de réptil enterra seus ovos na areia ou no próprio solo, e a temperatura ao redor, do ambiente, é adequada para o crescimento do embrião em desenvolvimento. Durante o desenvolvimento embrionário natural, os ovos da galinha são cobertos (incubados) pela própria galinha e são mantidos a uma temperatura próxima da sua temperatura corporal durante todo o período de incubação. A temperatura ideal para a incubação dos ovos é de ± 37 °C (37,3 – 37,7 °C) e a umidade de 65%. Quando a galinha põe os ovos e percebe que está na hora de chocá-los essa passa por um período fisiológico de instinto materno para a incubação dos ovos, sendo denominado de “galinha choca”. Além de todas essas diferenças, a maioria das aves pode voar, enquanto os répteis não. -/- • EXTERIOR DA GALINHA -/- O corpo da galinha é coberto com uma combinação de pele, penas e escamas localizadas, sendo esta última uma derivação e/ou resquício dos répteis (Figuras 1 e 2). -/- PENAS -/- As aves estão quase que completamente cobertas por penas, o que é uma característica das mesmas, tornando-as diferentes de outros vertebrados. Durante o processo evolutivo da galinha, a maioria das escamas reptilianas transformaram-se em penas, apenas uma pequena parte se aproxima das escamas da pele dos répteis que é a das pernas. Ambas as escamas e penas são compostas principalmente da mesma proteína que é a queratina. As penas, dentre muitos propósitos, servem a muitas funções tais como: • Auxilia, juntamente com os ossos porosos (pneumáticos) na hora do voo; • Fornece a proteção contra as extremas temperaturas interiores e exteriores; • Repele a chuva e a neve; • Cria uma camuflagem natural contra os predadores; • Auxiliam na hora da reprodução; • Ajudam a atrair indivíduos da mesma espécie. Partes da pena Uma pena (figura 3) é composta de uma raiz chamada cálamo; uma longa pena ou eixo denominada raque para dar rigidez; farpas que se estendem a partir da pena; barba que se estendem a partir das farpas; e bárbulas que se estendem a partir da barba. Todas as partes, exceto o raque, tendem a entrelaçar na porção plana (a teia) da pena. A malha não é pronunciada na base da pena e a construção solta dá origem a penugem, muitas vezes diferente na cor da teia da pena. Figura 3: estrutura da pena de galinha. -/- Como as penas são estabelecidas? -/- Quando o pintainho nasce, ele é desprovido de penas. Exceto em suas asas e cauda, ele é coberto por uma leve penugem. Dentro de dias o poço entra em erupção e a teia da pena faz a aparição. Quando o animal tem entre 4 a 5 semanas ele está todo emplumado. As primeiras penas são fundidas, e um novo conjunto de penas nasce, ou seja, as penas mudam quando a ave tem cerca de 8 semanas de idade. Um outro conjunto de penas é concluído pouco antes da ave atingir a maturidade sexual, representando sua primeira plumagem madura. As penas representam entre 4 e 8% do peso vivo da ave, com diferenças relacionadas à idade, sexo e desgaste associados ao equipamento; aves mais velhas e machos têm uma porcentagem menor de penas do que as fêmeas e aves mais jovens. Figura 5: frango com 45 dias. -/- Muda anual das penas -/- Como as penas velhas se desgastam, se quebram ou são arrancadas, a natureza proporcionou às aves adultas um método de renovação de rodas as suas penas uma vez por ano, soltando as penas restantes e criando um novo conjunto. O processo de queda e renovação das penas é conhecido como muda. Na natureza, as penas estão em constante queda em um padrão consistente para que a ave nunca esteja desprovida por completo de penas; a ave possuirá as penas velhas e as novas conforme forem surgindo. O processo normal de queda das penas velhas e de crescimento das novas requer de 3 a 4 meses. A muda e o crescimento de novas penas estão sob controle hormonal. Para a muda, as penas iniciam seu crescimento nós botões, isto é, na base das penas que, por sua vez, força as penas velhas a caírem naturalmente. Os níveis hormonais que induzem a produção de ovos e causam a ninhada inibem o crescimento dos botões das penas. Se a produção de ovos dor reduzida por meios artificiais, tais como a redução da ingestão de alimentos, a muda pode ser precipitada de forma mais rápida e completa, como ocorre nas denominadas mudas forçadas. Essas mudas são influenciadas pelo sistema alimentar ao qual as galinhas de postura, em especial, são submetidas a diminuição abrupta de ração, mudando o seu sistema fisiológico e demais funções. A galinha entra em estresse pela falta de alimento desavisado e começa um processo de mudança induzida artificialmente de suas penas. Esse método visa aumentar o tempo de postura das galinhas. -/- A forma da pena -/- As penas do corpo variam em tamanho sobre a superfície do corpo, o formato de ambas estão associadas com o sexo da ave. Os hormônios gonodais desempenham um papel crucial nessa variação sexual. Nos machos, esses hormônios são responsáveis pela ereção ou estreitamento das penas hackle, que ficam sobre o pescoço dos galos, da foice, sela e das penas falciformes menores dos machos. As penas não cobrem uniformemente o corpo, mas crescem em fileiras produzindo extensões de penas em áreas específicas do corpo. As principais penas estão localizadas no ombro, abdômen, coxa, costas, peito, pescoço, cabeça e nas asas. A ordem o tempo de aparecimento das penas são: Ombro e coxa 2 a 3 semanas Cauda e peito 3 a 4 semanas Pescoço, abdômen e perna 4 a 5 semanas Costas 5 a 6 semanas Coberturas da asa e cabeça 6 a 7 semanas Cor das penas -/- As penas podem ter muitas cores e padrões de cor. Em alguns casos, as diferenças de cor variam de acordo com a localização das penas no corpo. Os padrões de cor podem ser diferentes em ambos os sexos. As cores das penas e os padrões das penas são o resultado de diferenciações genéticas (a cor das penas está ligada ao sexo) e a presença de hormônios gonadotrópicos. Figura 6: penas do galo. Figura 7: penas da galinha. -/- Revestimento ceroso das penas -/- A glândula uropigial está localizada na área dorsal da cauda, e é a única glândula secretória presente na superfície das aves. Essa glândula segrega uma cera oleosa que a ave espalha sobre suas penas com o seu bico. O material faz com que as penas sejam resistentes à água; elas não absorvem água, e a água escorre rapidamente a partir das penas revestidas com esse óleo. -/- CABEÇA -/- A cabeça das aves é composta das seguintes partes: -/- 1. Crista -/- Existem vários tipos de cristas, mas apenas os três primeiros da seguinte lista são comuns nas aves comerciais, como é o caso da galinha. Fonte: Adaptação da internet. -/- O tipo de crista é resultado da interação gênica, conforme as leis de Mendel, mas o tamanho da crista está associado ao desenvolvimento gonodal bem como da intensidade da luz, seja ela artificial ou natural. A crista dos frangos de corte encontrados no Brasil, conforme as características genicas e/ou gonodais são a simples e a rosa. -/- 2. Olhos -/- As galinhas possuem a capacidade natural de discernimento de inúmeras cores, além da capacidade superior para concentrar e detectar os movimentos. Segundo o pesquisador STURKIE (1986) o olho da ave é o mais límpido órgão ocular de todo o reino animal. Nos olhos são encontradas ainda os anéis oculares, pálpebras e cílios compostos de penas cerdas de eixo reto. -/- Figura 9: olho de uma galinha. -/- 3. Orelhas -/- As espécies aviarias são conhecidas pelo seu profundo sentido auditivo. Sua produção de voz e capacidade de imitação de sons interfere na discriminação e intensidade de volume sobre a orelha. Na orelha também são encontrados os lóbulos que podem ser vermelho ou branco. -/- 4. Bico -/- O bico é um apêndice multifuncional de considerável importância. Ele está envolvido na apreensão de alimentos, defesa e agressão em comportamentos sociais, acasalamento, fabricação do ninho, preparação e comunicações entre os indivíduos. Suas funções normais são adversamente afetadas mediante a prática de manejo incorreta da debicagem, que consiste no corte do mesmo. Figura 10: cabeça de um galo. -/- Na cabeça das aves ainda são encontradas as barbelas, que são mais desenvolvidas nos machos e que, mediante a observação, podem indicar presença de doenças através da mudança de coloração. -/- PERNA -/- As canelas e a maioria dos pés são cobertos por escamas de algumas cores. A cor amarela é consequência dos pigmentos carotenoides dietéticos presentes na epiderme quando o pigmento de melanina encontra-se ausente. Os tons de preto são resultado do pigmento melânico presente na derme e na epiderme. Quando há uma pigmentação preta na derme e amarelada na epiderme a tonalidade fica esverdeada. Na ausência completa de ambos os pigmentos elas ficam esbranquiçadas. A coloração da perna das aves também pode ser ditada pela falta de nutrientes como o cálcio. As aves de postura depositam boa quantidade de cálcio dos ossos na casca do ovo, o que pode resultar na coloração branca da perna. As partes importantes da haste e do pé são o jarrete, canela e os dedos do pé. A maioria das galinhas possuem quatro dedos em cada pé, mas há algumas raças com cinco dedos. -/- PELE -/- A maior parte do corpo da ave é coberto com uma camada fina de pele. Com exceção da glândula uropigial (secretória) a pele é desprovida de demais glândulas. A ausência de glândulas sudoríparas torna impossível o resfriamento por evaporação da superfície do corpo da ave. A pele possui uma textura mais firme nas áreas da crista, lóbulos, bico, escamas, esporões e garras. Com exceção de certas áreas especializadas, a cor da pele é branca ou amarela. A coloração da pele também pode ser resultado de ingredientes adicionais da ração das aves, como o coloral. A densidade da cor amarela está indiretamente relacionada com a quantidade de xantofilas na dieta e inversamente correlacionada com a intensidade da produção de ovos. -/- • ESQUELETO -/- O esqueleto é a caixa de suporte do corpo ao qual os músculos estão ligados. A caixa torácica protege alguns dos órgãos vitais como o pulmão e o coração de impactos externos, e possui a capacidade de expansão e retração por meio da aspiração e/ou expiração do processo respiratório. Um exame minucioso da osteologia mostra que os ossos encontrados no esqueleto dos mamíferos também são encontrados no esqueleto das aves, como é o caso do fêmur. No entanto, alguns ossos da galinha são fundidos ou alongados. Outros são ocos para ajudar no voo, como os pneumáticos. A figura 11 ilustra os principais ossos encontrados no esqueleto da galinha. As vértebras do pescoço se movem livremente, mas ao contrário dos mamíferos, a porção restante da coluna vertebral é rígida, contendo vários ossos fundidos que conferem essa característica a coluna. Inúmeras vértebras torácicas estão unidas para formar uma base firme para a fixação das asas e seus músculos. Há também uma quilha pesada. As asas correspondem aos braços e mãos dos humanos com as pernas contendo os mesmos ossos encontrados na perna do homem, como o fêmur citado anteriormente. Os ossos do metatarso, comuns aos pés humanos, foram fundidos e alongados para formar a haste. -/- Figura 11: esqueleto da galinha. -/- Os ossos encontrados no crânio, úmero, quilha, clavícula e algumas vértebras são ocos, porosos e conectados ao sistema respiratório, com o ar movendo-se continuamente para dentro e para fora desses ossos especializados. A maioria dos ossos é leve, porém bastante resistentes. Há também um material ósseo macio e esponjoso conhecido como osso medular presente em quantidades variáveis nos ossos longos da perna (fíbula e tíbia), a alguns outros ossos do esqueleto de fêmeas que auxiliam o porte para a produção de ovos. Esse osso medular é usado para armazenamento de cálcio para uso posterior na produção de ovos, já que a casca do ovo é basicamente de cálcio. A quantidade de cálcio armazenada nesses ossos especializados é altamente variável, dependendo do comprimento e da taxa de produção de ovos; uma produção intensiva de ovos requer que esses ossos armazenam mais cálcio. A maior parte do cálcio necessidade para a produção da casca do ovo não é armazenada, mas vem diretamente da ração consumida pela galinha todos os dias. -/- • MÚSCULOS -/- Os músculos (figura 12) são classificados por sua função em voluntários e/ou involuntários. Os músculos voluntários são usados para o movimento e voo, enquanto que os músculos denominados involuntários (músculos lisos) são usadas no funcionamento de órgãos como o coração, intestinos, vasos sanguíneos e outros. Os músculos que movem a ave são especialmente importantes, mas aqueles que controlam a ação do coração, dos vasos sanguíneos, intestinos e outros órgãos vitais são tão importantes quanto, já que possuem uma função específica no bom funcionamento desses órgãos. Os músculos que movem as asas estão ligados à quilha (esterno). Esses músculos também suportam os órgãos vitais da cavidade abdominal. Esses músculos são bem desenvolvidos na maioria das aves, mas especialmente em frangos de corte, uma vez que a seleção genética produziu aves com peitos maiores. Os músculos são mais desenvolvidos e importantes em aves de corte, já que o músculo nada mais é do que a carne do animal, essa que é o consumo de bilhões de pessoas em todo o mundo. Nas galinhas pode-se encontrar tanto músculos brancos como vermelhos, dando origem a carne clara e a escura, pouco mais avermelhada. Na carne mais escura, é encontrado mais gordura e um composto de ferro e oxigênio denominado mioglobina, em comparação com a carne branca. Geralmente a atividade e função muscular determina sua cor. Na galinha, os músculos da perna são mais escuros do que os do peito, já que há um constante estresse nos músculos da perna que tem a função de manter o corpo ereto quando a ave está de pé. Nas aves voadoras selvagens, o músculo do peito é mais escuro porque o maior estresse é colocado sobre o mesmo durante o voo. Os frangos de corte possuem fibras musculares que são maiores em diâmetro e sua coloração é mais clara do que os de tipo camada. -/- • SISTEMA RESPIRATÓRIO -/- O sistema respiratório das aves é composto por: • cavidades nasais • laringe • traqueia • siringe (caixa de voz) • brônquios • pulmões • sacos de ar (9) • ossos contendo ar Os pulmões da galinha são pequenos em comparação com os dos mamíferos. Eles se expandem ou contraem ligeiramente conforme a expiração e aspiração, e não há um diafragma verdadeiro. Os pulmões são apoiados por nove sacos de ar e um grupo de ossos ocos, contendo ar. Há dois pares de sacos torácicos e dois pares de sacos na região abdominal, e um único saco de ar na região interclavicular. Figura 12: principais músculos da galinha. Fonte: FLORIANO, 2018. -/- Enquanto o ar se movimenta livremente dentro e fora dos sacos de ar, apenas os pulmões são responsáveis pela troca gasosa entre oxigênio e dióxido de carbono que ocorre durante a respiração. Tanto os pulmões quanto os sacos de ar funcionam como mecanismos de resfriamento à medida que a umidade de suas superfícies é exalada como vapor de água. A taxa respiratória é ditada pela concentração de dióxido de carbono presente no sangue; níveis maiores de CO2 aumentam a taxa, que varia entre 15 e 25 respirações por minuto na ave em repouso. -/- Figura 13: esquema do sistema respiratório da galinha. Fonte: SILVA. -/- • SISTEMA DIGESTIVO -/- A figura 14 apresenta o sistema digestivo simplificado da galinha. Os demais órgãos que o compõem são descritos abaixo. -/- BOCA -/- A galinha é desprovida de lábios, não possui paladar, bochechas ou dentes, mas possui uma mandíbula superior e inferior denominada bico que possui a função de apreensão da comida, defesa e outras específicas. A mandíbula superior está firmemente fixada ao crânio enquanto que a mandíbula inferior é articulada. O palato duro é dividido por uma longa fenda estreita no centro que está aberta para as passagens nasais. Essa abertura e ausência do paladar tornam impossíveis para a ave criar um vácuo para atrair água para sua boca. Portanto, para que possa beber água, a ave deve elevar sua cabeça para permitir que a água escorra pelo esôfago mediante a gravidade. A galinha possui uma língua em forma de punhal com uma superfície bastante áspera na região caudal da mesma, o que facilita a levar a comida para o canal do esôfago. A saliva, com sua enzima amilase que é usada na conversão dos amidos em açúcares durante o processo digestivo, é segregada pelas glândulas presentes na boca. Outra função da saliva de lubrificação dos alimentos que auxiliam no transporte das partículas dos alimentos para o esôfago e posteriormente ao papo onde transforma-se em bolo alimentar. -/- Figura 14: esquema do sistema digestório da galinha. Fonte: adaptação da internet. -/- As galinhas possuem menos papilas gustativas do que os mamíferos; enquanto o ser humano possui cerca de 9.000 as aves constam com apenas 250 a 350 papilas. As papilas gustativas da galinha estão localizadas em diversas regiões da boca e sob a língua. É difícil saber o sabor dos alimentos para as aves, no entanto os alimentos são consideradas como sendo ruins dentro da boca do animal, mas as aves respondem bem a gostos específicos como o sal e o açúcar. As galinhas possuem grande tolerância à acidez e alcalinidade da água de consumo, no entanto faz-se necessário oferecer uma água de qualidade e com pH próximo do 7. As aves conseguem discernir a temperatura da água, recusando a ingestão de água com temperaturas abaixo de 3 °C e com temperaturas acima dos 38 °C, a melhor temperatura gira em torno da ambiental (18 a 25 °C). -/- ESÔFAGO -/- O esôfago é o tubo pelo qual o alimento passa quando sai da paste traseira da boca (faringe) e vai para o proventrículo. É composto por duas regiões específicas, a parte superior que compreende a ligação entre a boca e o papo medindo aproximadamente 20 cm de comprimento na ave adulta e a parte inferior compreendendo o nexo entre o papo e o proventrículo medindo cerca de 16 cm de comprimento. -/- PAPO -/- Depois de ser engolido, o alimento sai da boca, entra no canal do esôfago e deposita-se em uma cavidade do corpo com características de uma bolsa denominada de papo, ao qual atua como o local de armazenamento do alimento transformando-o em bolo alimentar. No papo ocorre pouca ou nenhuma digestão, exceto a que envolve a secreção salivar da boca, que continua com sua atividade no papo, sendo assim o alimento é cada vez mais umedecido. Esse processo de alta salivação tanto na boca quanto no papo sobre os alimentos é para facilitar a total quebra do alimento em partículas menores, principalmente quando a ave possui uma dieta de milho em grão não triturado. -/- PROVENTRÍCULO -/- Um alargamento do esôfago pouco antes de sua ligação com a moela é conhecido como o proventrículo, às vezes alinhado de estômago glandular ou verdadeiro. É nesse compartimento ao qual os sucos gástricos são produzidos e segregados. A pepsina, uma enzima necessária no processo de digestão das proteínas, e o ácido clorídrico são segregados pelas células glandulares. A passagem do bolo alimentar pelo proventrículo é rápida, como consequência há pouca digestão do material alimentar nesse compartimento, no entanto o bolo alimentar vai para a moela, uma estômago mecânico que só é encontrado nas aves, na moela ocorre a ação enzimática sobre o bolo alimentar. -/- MOELA -/- A moela, às vezes denominada de estômago mecânico ou muscular das aves, fica entre o proventrículo e a porção superior do intestino delgado. Possui dois pares de músculos poderosos capazes de exercer grande força sobre os alimentos, triturando-os e formando partículas menores, além de possuir uma mucosa muito grossa, cuja superfície constantemente se desgasta e se desprende. A moela fica inativa quando está vazia, porém uma vez que o alimento entra nesse compartimento, as contrações musculares de suas paredes grosseiras entram em constante atividade. Quantos maiores as partículas dos alimentos mais rápidas são as contrações para quebrá-lo o mais rápido e eficientemente possível. Quando o material fino entra na moela sai em poucos minutos, mas quando o alimento é grosseiro pode permanecer nesta por várias horas. Para facilitar a quebra do alimento e a transformação do mesmo em partículas menores para a entrada no trato intestinal, as aves constantemente consomem pequenas pedras, cascalhos, areia e outros materiais que visam facilitar a moagem do alimento na moela. Atualmente, as práticas de moagem dos alimentos que formam as rações mais finas e o uso de fontes de cálcio com tamanho de partículas maiores para camadas praticamente eliminaram a necessidade de granulação nas dietas das aves comerciais de hoje. -/- INTESTINO DELGADO -/- O ID é composto por duas seções principais, a alça duodenal e o íleo. Dentro da alça duodenal encontra-se o pâncreas que segrega os sucos pancreáticos contendo as enzimas amilase, lipase e tripsina. Outras enzimas fundamentais do processo digestivo de açúcares e proteínas são produzidas e segregadas pelas paredes do ID. O ID é o local primário de absorção de nutrientes para a corrente sanguínea e, para as células. Na ave adulta, o IG pode chegar a medir aproximadamente 140 cm de comprimento. -/- CECO -/- Entre o ID e o intestino grosso encontram-se duas bolsas denominadas como ceco. Cada ceco tem aproximadamente 15 cm de comprimento na ave adulta. A função exata desse compartimento ainda não está bem definida, porém estudos concluíram que o ceco têm pouco a ver com a digestão, ele apenas participa em pequenas funções associadas à absorção de água. Uma pequena quantidade de digestão de carboidratos e proteínas, além da fermentação microbiana da fibra dietética também ocorre no ceco. -/- INTESTINO GROSSO -/- O IG é uma extensão relativamente curta do ID na ave, tendo cerca de 10 cm de comprimento na ave adulta. É duas vezes o diâmetro do ID. Estende-se a partir da extremidade do ID para a cloaca. O IG está envolvido no processo de reabsorção de água, e ao realizar esse processo, ajuda na manutenção do equilíbrio de água no organismo e em todo o corpo da ave. -/- CLOACA -/- A área bulbosa no final do trato alimentar (da boca até o ânus) é denominada de cloaca. Cloaca, no sentido comum, significa “esgoto comum” e, no caso da galinha, do aparelho digestivo, urinário e reprodutivo, todos desembocam na cloaca. É nesse compartimento que saem as fezes, o ovo, a urina, e por onde o galo deposita o esperma na galinha, porém em orifícios diferentes. Para facilitar a saída do ovo e para vedar os por presentes na casa contra microrganismos, na cloaca encontra-se uma glândula que secreta um óleo essencial para as funções citadas. O mesmo canal por onde são expelidas as fezes também sai a urina, logo as galinhas exoneram urina e fezes ao mesmo tempo e sobre o mesmo orifício. -/- ÂNUS -/- A abertura (ânus) é a abertura externa da cloaca. Seu tamanho varia muita nas fêmeas, dependendo se a mesma encontra-se ou não produzindo ovos, uma vez que fêmeas em produção possuem uma abertura mais dilatada para a passagem do ovo que é o feto do animal. É por esse orifício que passam as fezes e a urina. -/- ÓRGÃOS DIGESTIVOS SUPLEMENTARES -/- Certos órgãos estão intimamente associados a digestão nas aves, uma vez que suas secreções no trato gastrointestinal ajudam nos processos de quebra e absorção do material alimentar. São conhecidos como órgãos suplementares anexos e apêndices do sistema digestório. -/- 1. Pâncreas -/- O pâncreas encontra-se dentro da chamada alça duodenal do ID. É um órgão que segrega enzimas no duodeno por meio dos dutos pancreáticos. Essas enzimas ajudam na digestão de amidos, lipídios e proteínas. As enzimas, também conhecidas como sucos pancreáticos, neutralizam a condição ácida criada no proventrículo. -/- 2. Fígado -/- O fígado é composto por dois grandes lóbulos. Entre as funções do fígado está a secreção da bílis, um fluido ligeiramente pegajoso de coloração amarelo-verde ao qual contém ácidos biliares. Esses ácidos entram no ID sobre a extremidade inferior do duodeno e ajuda na digestão da gordura (lipídios). As secreções biliares não possuem enzimas digestivas. A função principal delas está associada a neutralização da condição ácida e ajuda na digestão da gordura formando emulsões. Além disso, o fígado está envolvido no metabolismo da gordura, proteínas e carboidratos. -/- 3. Vesícula biliar -/- Enquanto a galinha possui uma vesícula biliar, outras aves não. Como discutido supra, na seção do fígado, dois dutos biliares são usados na transferência da bile do fígado para os intestinos. O duro direitos através do qual a maior parte da bílis passa e é temporariamente armazenada, aumenta e forma a vesícula biliar. O duto esquerdo é menor, portanto, apenas uma pequena quantidade de bike passa através dele e vai diretamente para os intestinos. -/- • SISTEMA URINÁRIO -/- O sistema circulatório da galinha consiste em dois rins que se localizam logo atrás dos pulmões. Apenas um único ureter conecta cada rim com a cloaca. A urina das aves é composta basicamente de ácido úrico, que nada mais é do que o produto final do metabolismo proteico, que é misturado com as fezes na cloaca e expelido sobre as fezes como um material pastoso e branco. -/- • SISTEMA CIRCULATÓRIO -/- O objetivo do sistema circulatório é o transporte de oxigênio (O2) dos pulmões e os nutrientes que passam através das vilosidades presentes nas paredes intestinais para as células (sangue arterial). O sistema venoso transporta o dióxido de carbono (CO2) de volta para os pulmões e resíduos do metabolismo de volta para os rins para serem excretados do corpo através da urina. O coração da galinha, assim como o dos mamíferos, possui quatro câmaras, sendo dois átrios e dois ventrículos. A pulsação do coração na galinha pode chegar a uma taxa acelerada de cerca de 300 pulsações por minuto. Quanto menor a ave, mais rápidas são as contrações do coração, logo os batimentos são maiores. Os pintainhos mostram uma taxa aumentada à medida em que se desenvolvem. As aves sob a luz possuem uma frequência cardíaca mais acelerada, e na noite, sob baixa ou nenhuma luz, os batimentos diminuem consideravelmente. Estudos apontam que a taxa de galinhas individuais é mais baixa, porém pode acelerar mediante a excitação individual da mesma. -/- SANGUE -/- 1. Composição do sangue -/- O sangue é composto de plasma, sais e outros elementos, além de eritrócitos que são os glóbulos vermelhos e os leucócitos que são os glóbulos brancos (sistema imune). Na galinha, os eritrócitos possuem um núcleo em contraste com os dos mamíferos. O sangue da galinha contem cerca de 3 milhões de eritrócitos em cada milímetro cúbico. O baço serve como um local de armazenamento para os eritrócitos, expulsando o seu conteúdo para o sistema circulatório, conforme o necessário. O sangue constitui cerca de 12% do peso de um pintainho, e cerca de 6 a 8% em aves adultas. -/- 2. Função do sangue -/- O sangue possui inúmeras funções, dentre elas o transporte do oxigênio para as células do corpo; a remoção do dióxido de carbono a partir do O2 nas células; absorção de nutrientes do trato digestivo; transporte dos nutrientes para as células e tecidos; remoção de resíduos do metabolismo celular; transporte de hormônios produzidos pelas glândulas endócrinas para várias seções do corpo, além de ajudar na regulação do teor de água nos tecidos do corpo. -/- PRESSÃO ARTERIAL -/- A pressão arterial das aves de todas as idades pode ser estipulada através da medida de milímetros de mercúrio (mmHg). Mesmo a pressão do embrião em desenvolvimento pode ser medida. Tal como acontece com os seres humanos, a pressão arterial pode ser estimada segundo duas medidas separadas: 1. Pressão sistólica (arterial) 2. O cérebro representa células nervosas altamente concentradas e serve como o alicerce de todos e quaisquer estímulos nervosos. A audição e a visão das aves são bem desenvolvidas, além disso a galinha possui a capacidade de discernir inúmeros sons e cores. A capacidade da galinha de distinguir os cheiros, no entanto, não é bem desenvolvido. As galinhas possuem a capacidade de aprendizagem; elas podem ser treinadas para seguir certos procedimentos físicos. Além disso, elas aprendem a reconhecer um grande número de companhias de terreno ainda jovens, e a capacidade de conhecer outras aves aumenta com a idade. -/- • GLÂNDULAS ENDÓCRINAS -/- Dentro do corpo encontram-se certas glândulas endócrinas além de certos tecidos que produzem produtos conhecidos como hormônios. Os hormônios passam diretamente para a corrente sanguínea e possui um efeito sobre as células e órgãos em muitas partes do corpo. Os hormônios são derivados primeiramente das proteínas e executam uma variedade de funções. Alguns aumentam a atividade de certos órgãos, outros diminuem a atividade dos órgãos, outros possuem um efeito sobre os processos metabólicos e reprodutivos. As glândulas produtoras de hormônios incluem: • Tireoide • Paratireoide • Hipófise • Hipotálamo • Testículo • Ovário • Pineal • Adrenal • Pâncreas Além das glândulas, os hormônios podem ser produzidos pela mucosa gástrica e intestinal. As funções e a interação dos hormônios são variadas e em grande número. A tiroxina, produzida pela tireoide, ajuda na regulação da taxa metabólica. O hormônio paratireoideo das paratireoides influencia o metabolismo do cálcio e do fósforo. Os hormônios hipofisários produzidas em uma pequena glândula na base do cérebro, ajudam no crescimento, e outros afetam a tireoide e a paratireoide; enquanto outros possuem um efeito pronunciado na ovulação, no oviduto, sobre a ninhada e na postura de ovos na fêmea, e na produção de sêmen no macho. Além de glândulas, hormônios também são produzidos pela mucosa gástrica e intestinal e um número de locais em todo o corpo. Os hormônios do ovário influenciam a deposição de gordura, aumentam a liberação de cálcio do osso medular e causam a ovulação. Os hormônios produzidos na glândula adrenal (suprarrenal) auxiliam na retenção de glicogênio pelo fígado e afetam o metabolismo mineral. Os produzidos pelo pâncreas produzem insulina e glicogênio, que regulam a utilização da glicose em seu nível na corrente sanguínea. Os hormônios do trato gastrointestinal aumentam a produção de suco gástrico, suco pancreático e da bílis. -/- • SISTEMA REPRODUTIVO -/- MACHO -/- O sistema reprodutor do galo (figura 15) consiste em dois testículos funcionais que localizam-se na área dorsal da cavidade corporal, em frente aos rins. Os dutos dos testículos desembocam no duto ou vaso deferente, que transporta o sêmen dos testículos para as papilas da área dorsal da cloaca e, em seguida, ao órgão copulatório localizado em uma das pregas da cloaca. Normalmente, o sêmen é armazenado no duto deferente onde é diluído através do fluido linfático; ambos são ejaculados como uma mistura durante a cópula. O pênis do galo é bastante pequeno. Uma linfa é produzida no pênis para formar uma suave ereção, todavia o pênis não penetra sobre a cloaca. Em vez disso, durante o processo copulatório, a cloaca da fêmea se abre e para expor a extremidade do oviduto onde o sêmen do galo é depositado. Uma vez que o sêmen plota-se no oviduto, ele é transportado do duto às bolsas, que são os locais de armazenamento do sêmen, onde é prendido antes do processo de fertilização do sêmen sobre o óvulo da fêmea. Os espermatozoides do galo possuem um capacete pontiagudo longo que é anexado a uma cauda longa (flagelo). O pH do sêmen deve ser neutro entre 7 e 7,4. O volume de sêmen ejaculado durante uma cópula pode ser alto chegando a 1,0 ml durante o primeiro acasalamento, volume que diminui para 0,1 ml conforme o número de acasalamentos. A reprodução nas galinhas caracteriza-se, dentre outros pontos, pela ovoviviparidade, isto é, ao qual o embrião começa a se desenvolver dentro da galinha e termina seu desenvolvimento total de 21 dias fora do corpo da mãe, dentro do ovo. Algumas aves, como é o caso da galinha, nascem com os dois lados do ovário e oviduto, no entanto, apenas o ovário e o oviduto do lado esquerdo se desenvolvem e fincam funcionais. A galinha libera apenas 1 folículo (óvulo) a cada 25 horas, e esse óvulo (gema) é liberado todos os dias durante o ciclo da ave que é de 10 a 15 dias seguidos. Para suprir as necessidades do feto fora do corpo da mãe, o óvulo das aves é maior que o dos mamíferos. Os folículos possuem uma hierarquia entre eles, sendo assim, somente os que chegam a medir 8 mm de diâmetro continuam do desenvolvimento até a ovulação. O oviduto da ave é composto pelo infundíbulo, magno, istmo e útero. A vagina e a cloaca também fazem parte do trato reprodutivo da galinha. Detalhes específicos do trato reprodutivo da galinha será exposto no trabalho sobre formação do ovo. -/- • CRESCIMENTO DA GALINHA -/- O corpo da galinha é composto de grande número de células que são, geralmente, do mesmo tamanho em todas as raças, independentemente do peso corporal. A maioria dos desenvolvimento precoces no crescimento embrionário ocorrem como resultado da multiplicação celular, já que 1 célula se divide em 2, 2 em 4, 4 em 8, 8 em 16, 16 em 32, e assim por diante. Porém esse aumento rítmico não permanece por um período indefinido. Sendo assim, as células se especializam para a formação de diferentes componentes do corpo. A taxa de crescimento e a taxa de divisão celular das células especializadas varia de acordo com a função de cada célula e a idade do animal. Quando a ave é mais velha, a taxa de peso corporal diário é mais baixa, ou seja, o ganho de peso do animal será menor. -/- Figura 16: esquema do sistema reprodutor da galinha. Fonte: internet. -/- Após a eclosão, quando o número de fibras musculares (células únicas) já não aumenta, o crescimento das células musculares e nervosas passa a ser resultado do aumento das células e não da divisão celular. As fibras musculares possuem uma dimensão máxima que é controlada, principalmente, pela composição genética da ave, porém pode aumentar ou diminuírem de tamanho conforme quantidades variáveis de atividades. Tanto a síntese quanto a degradação de proteínas estão envolvidas e operam simultaneamente, com o resultado líquido determinando se os músculos aumentam ou diminuem de tamanho. Os músculos do peito são excepcionalmente bem desenvolvidos nas aves já que os mesmos são imprescindíveis para a movimentação das asas durante o voo, além de ser a parte da galinha com mais carne para o consumo. Atualmente, mediante o melhoramento genético, o peito e as coxas da galinha estão quase que 3 vezes maiores que os de frangos de 40 anos atrás (figura 17). A taxa de gordura de um frango está baseada em função do número de células que contém gordura. Algumas raças e linhagens de frangos possuem um número maior de células de gordura do que outras, uma consequência do melhoramento genético citado supra que aumentou a capacidade da carcaça (carne). As células de gordura atingem o desenvolvimento máximo no período inicial de crescimento. A capacidade de um frango de corte para ganhar peso rapidamente é principalmente o resultado de depósitos de células de gordura, em vez de aumentos no crescimento do esqueleto ou fibras musculares. Fonte: internet. -/- • ALTERAÇÃO CORPORAIS DURANTE A PRODUÇÃO DE OVOS -/- Durante algum tempo, as galinhas estão deitadas, isto é, no ciclo de postura, e em outro tempo elas estão sofrendo uma muda (figura 18) e certas alterações ocorrem em sua aparência. -/- MUDA -/- Algumas galinhas podem produzir alguns ovos após o início da muda, porém geralmente a cessação da produção de ovos se sobrepõe à muda. A duração do período da muda é variável. As boas produtoras de ovos passam pelo processo de muda no final da estação de postura, já os baixas produtoras de ovos mudam precocemente e lentamente. -/- Figura 18: galinha em processo de muda. Ordem da muda -/- Durante a muda, as penas caem das várias partes do corpo em uma ordem definida, geralmente a ordem é: 1° cabeça 2° pescoço 3° peito 4° costa 5° asas 6° cloaca/rabo Muitas vezes, um rebanho de aves vai experimentar um estresse temporário e abrupto resultante de uma possível doença ou mudança de ou no ambiente, o que causa uma muda parcial das penas da cabeça e do pescoço bem como das asas. Se a causa puder ser corrigida, não deve interferir na muda anual primária. -/- PIGMENTAÇÃO AMARELA -/- A coloração amarelada na pele e nas pernas da galinha pode ser em função de vários xantofilas (pigmentos hidroxicarotenoides) que são depositados na camada de gordura sob a pele. A única fonte de xantofilas casa aves é a dieta que ela come. Quanto mais xantofilas na ração, mais densa a cor da pele amarelada. Os xantofilas presentes nessa camada de gordura, sofrem continuamente uma degradação química, todavia são reabastecida a partir da alimentação da ave. -/- Branqueamento -/- Os xantofilas também são responsáveis pela cor amarela da gema do ovo. Porém, quando uma franga começa a colocar uma taxa elevada e rápida, a maioria dos xantofilas presentes na ração vai para as gemas dos ovos. Não sobra o suficiente para reabastecer aqueles que estão quimicamente perdidos na pele, em consequência da degradação, logo a pele começa a clarear. Quando mais tempo uma ave colocar os ovos, maior a taxa de clareamento (branqueamento). Quando a galinha tiver colocado cerca de 180 ovos, a pele terá uma coloração azul-branca. -/- OUTRAS MUDANÇAS RESULTANTES DA PRODUÇÃO DE OVOS -/- Há algumas mudanças relevantes na ave durante o curso da produção de ovos, as mais expressivas são: 1. A abertura do ânus torna-se grande e úmida; 2. Os ossos pubianos tornam-se mais finos; 3. O espaço entre os ossos pubianos aumenta; 4. A distância entre os ossos pubianos e a extremidade do osso da quilha aumenta. Essas características são fundamentais para a determinação do estado de postura das aves individuais. The relationship between philosophy and logic is handled within the concomitant-the implicant (al-lazim-al-malzum) relationship in classical philosophy, and the existence of one of them is denied unless the other one exists. Despite such a strong relationship, it is seen that the subjects, concepts and issues of the science of logic are often implicitly included in the texts of philosophers. In this study, it has been discussed how the science of logic plays a role in the discussion of attributes, which is (...) a theological and philosophical issue. Divine attributes, as a sub-issue of the subject of tawhid, which is accepted as one of the fine matters of theology (Lataif-i kalam), have been handled and discussed by numerous thinkers in Islamic thought. Similarly, Ibn Rushd could not remain ignorant of this issue discussed by the tradition before him, and examined the subject on a new level and with a different approach. In this study, the way Ibn Rushd read the discussion of attributes has been limited only to the theory of common words. As a matter of fact, in this way, it has been shown that the relationship between logic and philosophy are two inseparable parts, and it is claimed that Ibn Rushd advocated a unique logic-based approach in the subject of attributes. Finally, the concepts of logic that Ibn Rushd used impliedly in the example of the issue of divine attributes were pointed out. (shrink)

In M.Nesprava’s article "Theoretical Foundations of Radical Salafism", the presence of a conceptual core in the radical Salafism doctrine is shown and the main formation stages of this core are analyzed. Also, the role of the ideas by such authors as Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al- Wahhab, Syed Abul A'la Maududi and Sayyid Qutb in the formation of the conceptual core is argued. The characteristic aspects of the interpretation by radical Salafists of such concepts as tawhid, takfir and (...) jihad are demonstrated. (shrink)

La riflessione filosofica di Eric Voegelin sembra possedere una certa forza teorica per far fronte speculativamente alla metanarrazione islamista, specialmente nella versione del salafismo-jihadismo di marca qaedista e pseudo-califfale. Il concetto di religione politica sviluppato da Voegelin nella giovinezza, già applicato all’islamismo da diversi pensatori, risulta però inadeguato, essendo stato peraltro rigettato dallo stesso Voegelin per la sua vaghezza. Pertanto, seguendo l’itinerario voegeliano abbiamo recuperato le tre componenti che vivificano la nozione (rivisitata) di religione politica – la componente metastatica, apocalittica (...) e gnostica –, concetti sviluppati da un Voegelin ormai maturo, e li abbiamo applicati al salafismo- jihadismo, ottenendo come risultato quello di rendere maggiormente intelligibile il fenomeno islamista. L’Islam politico appare alfine come una religione politica a tutti gli effetti, ovverosia una degenerazione secolarizzata della fede tradizionale che confida nella violenza per mutare magicamente la natura del reale. L'elaborato intende analizzare lo statuto ontologico dell'ente a partire dal binomio esse e id quod est, sviluppato da Tommaso nel commento al De Hebdomadibus di Boezio, specificando i concetti di partecipazione come causalità forte, e di essere come massimo estensivo e più generale.

Abstract: Background: Vitamin D insufficiency/deficiency prevalent in all age groups across the world is common in obesity and may play an important role in the risk factors of metabolic syndrome (MS). Objectives: This cross-sectional study is to evaluate the relationship between levels of adiponectin and circulating 25(OH)D, and its effect on metabolic biomarker among overweight/obese female students. Methods: Three hundred female students; with mean age 20.9 ± 3.2 years were attending the Aljouf University, Sakaka, Saudi Arabia. They were randomly selected (...) from university during the studying year 2015 – 2016. Anthropometric and biochemical indices were determined. Results: The study showed 19% of the female’s student were either overweight or obese (15% and 4%, respectively). The frequency of MS diagnosis among the students was 17%, with 13% and 4% had either three or four risk factors, respectively. Overweight/obese subjects had significantly worse anthropometric and biochemical characteristics, including waist/hip ratio, blood pressure (BP), fasting blood glucose (BG), insulin, insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), triglyceride levels (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels (LDL-C), leptin, adiponectin, leptin/adiponectin ratio and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels (HDL-C) compared to normal weight. Of the subjects diagnosed with MS, 59% had mild and 8.6% had severe 25(OH)D deficiency. There was negative association between 25(OH)D and both FBG and HOMA-IR among young women obese/overweight. Conclusion: In our study, it suggested that low level of adiponectin was strongly correlated with low 25(OH)D levels. Also, the prevalence of MS tends to increase with high occurrence rate of low circulating 25(OH)D levels that is, known cause poor glycemic control and prediction of cardiovascular outcomes. Abstract: The study aimed to determine the quality of services and its role in enhancing strategic flexibility, from the point of view of the internal beneficiary in non-governmental hospitals in Gaza Strip. The study relied on the descriptive and analytical approach, and the questionnaire was designed as a tool to collect data and consisted of (39) items, and the researchers used the comprehensive survey method, and the number of the study population was (536) individuals, where (434) questionnaires were retrieved, and (...) the recovery rate was (80.97%). The study revealed many results, the most important of which were: the existence of a high degree of approval by the study sample regarding the quality of services, as it was evident through the field of service quality obtaining a relative weight (79.90%), and the results of the study indicated that there is a moderate degree of approval by the members of the study sample. On the strategic flexibility, as it was evident by obtaining the area of strategic flexibility as a whole on a relative weight (60.44%). The results of the study revealed a statistically significant relationship between the quality of services and the strategic flexibility in non-governmental hospitals in Gaza Strip, with a correlation coefficient of 0.490). The results of the study also revealed a statistically significant effect of the quality of services on the strategic flexibility in non-governmental hospitals in Gaza Strip. The study reached many recommendations, the most important of which were: Establishing an effective system to receive patients' complaints in a manner that ensures rapid response and treatment, to achieve continuous communication between patients and the hospital administration, to notify patients of dealing with the complaints they submit, and to work to provide all medical and health specialties in hospitals in place. The study aimed to identify the sharing of information and its impact on the quality of health care in Al-Shifa Medical Complex in the southern Palestinian governorates. The study adopted the descriptive analytical approach. The number is 2150 employees, and the questionnaire was distributed to a stratified random sample of 330 employees, and 302 questionnaires were retrieved, with a rate of 91.5%. One of the most important results of the study was that there is a statistically significant effect at the (...) level (α≤0.05) of information sharing for the performance of the medical staff in the quality of health care in Al-Shifa Medical Complex in the southern Palestinian governorates. Este artículo explora la integración de la IA en la comunicación académica para mejorar las capacidades cognitivas humanas. La concepción de la comunicación hombre-máquina (CMM), que considera las tecnologías basadas en la IA no como objetos interactivos, sino como sujetos comunicativos, plantea cuestiones más filosóficas en la comunicación académica. Es un hecho conocido que existe una mayor interacción entre los humanos y las máquinas, especialmente consolidada por la pandemia COVID-19, que intensificó el desarrollo del Sistema de Aprendizaje Adaptativo Individual, por (...) lo que necesariamente se requieren aportaciones de las IN para fortalecer la IA. Esto posicionó a la universidad en la yuxtaposición de asegurar la producción de individuos altamente talentosos que puedan continuar pensando más allá de lo pensable inteligentemente y permitir a los expertos en IA continuar construyendo algoritmos que puedan llevar el desarrollo de la tecnología al siguiente nivel. Para llevar a cabo tal tarea, la producción investigadora es primordial para conectar la universidad y la industria editorial. În lucrarea noastră despre însemnările lui Mircea Eliade cu privire la Sfântul Grigorie Palama şi la isihasm am încercat să propunem o altfel de abordare a învăţăturii ortodoxe, aşa cum a fost ea formulată în secolul al paisprezecelea. Dacă abordarea teologică este cea care scoate la iveală frumuseţea învăţăturii ortodoxe, ideile Sfântului Grigorie Palama fiind o continuare a tradiţiei creştine din primele secole, încercarea de a compara aceste învăţături, ca şi a tradiţiei isihaste, cu alte învăţături şi tradiţii, este un (...) subiect spre care se îndreaptă tot mai mulţi cercetători. Mircea Eliade, dincolo de formarea sa în spaţiul creştinismului ortodox, aşa cum remarcă din ce în ce mai mulţi cercetători ai operei sale, este un istoric al religiilor a cărui abordare este atât nouă, cât şi continuatoarea vechii cercetări fenomenologice. Mai mult decât atât, chiar dacă sunt destule voci care contestă acest lucru, Mircea Eliade rămâne unul dintre cei mai mari istorici ai religiilor din toate timpurile. În analiza operelor la care ne-am oprit în studiul nostru, Eliade scoate în evidenţă asemănările, dar mai ales deosebirile ce există între învăţătura isihastă şi anumite practici specifice altor tradiţii religioase. Astfel sunt însemnările despre Yoga, în care savantul, analizând practicile indiene, le compară cu cele din isihasm, subliniind diferenţele aşa cum se desprind din studiul celor două tradiţii. O părere asemănătoare se desprinde şi din analiza luminii mistice, prezentă în majoritatea religiilor lumii. Eliade evidenţiază asemănările, dar şi deosebirile cu privire la felul în care lumina mistică este percepută în creştinism şi în alte tradiţii. Studiul istoric asupra isihasmului şi a personalităţii Sfântului Grigorie Palama, prezent în Istoria credinţelor şi ideilor religioase, se îmbină cu studiul fenomenologic din celelalte surse. În ceea ce priveşte operele publicate după dispariţia savantului de origine română, Enciclopedia religiilor şi Dictionarul religiilor, se pot observa atât continuităţi cât şi discontinuităţi. Dicţionarul cuprinde, în mare parte, gândirea lui Culianu şi mai puţin pe cea a maestrului său, deşi urme ale acesteia sunt încă evidente. În Enciclopedie, capitolele despre Sfântul Grigorie Palama şi isihasm sunt semnate de cercetători ale căror opere au fost folosite de Eliade în scrierile precedente, subliniind astfel legăturile cu preocupările savantului în acest domeniu. Dincolo de concluziile studiului, trebuie să spunem că această cercetare este importantă şi dintr-un alt punct de vedere: în disciplina Istoria religiilor, a compara mai multe religii sau părţi din tradiţiile religioase ale lumii rămâne o metodă esenţială, evidenţiind importanţa creştinismului în lumea contemporană. Bilim ve çarpık bilim arasına sınır çizebilmek için yapılan girişimler farklı teorilerin gelistirilmesini sağlamıştır. Henüz net bir sınır çizilememiştir ve tartışmalar devam etmektedir. İlk olarak doğrulama ve yanlışlama teorileri daha sonraları ise bilim çalışmalarını bir bütün olarak ele alan, araştırma programları olarak gören teoriler sunulmuştur. Bilimsel çalışmaların, yeni sorunlar üretmesi ve eleştirel bakış açısına sahip olması da bilim olanın sınırlarını çizebilmek için ölçütler arasında sayılmıştır. Bu çabalar ile bilim pratiklerinin irdelenmesi zamanla bilim insanına ve bilim kurumlarına yönelmiştir. Bu konunun önemli (...) bir sorunu bilim yolu ile ulaşabileceğimiz doğru bilginin ne olduğu ile neyin bilim olarak ele alınabileceğinin tek bir sorun gibi ele alınmasıdır. Bilimsel doğrunun ne olduğu ile bilimsel bilginin ne olduğu tartışması iç içe yürütülmektedir. Bir diğer sorun ise bilimin sınırlarını belirlerken bilim çalışmaları dışında etik ve sosyal ölçütler aranmasıdır. Bu yaklaşımlar konuyu çözümsüz bir noktaya götürmektedir. Diğer önemli nokta Astroloji örneğinin yanlış bilgilerle ele alınmasıdır. Bu çalışmada tartışmanın bilim pratiklerinde kalması gerektiği savunulmuştur. Çarpık bilimi ayırmak için sık kullanılan Astroloji örneği yeniden ele alınarak yanlış yargılara sebep olan bilgiler düzeltilmeye çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca önermelerin bilimsel doğruyu ayırma konusundaki önemi ve durumu tartışılmış böylece neyin bilim, neyin bilimsel doğru ve neyin bilim dışı olduğu netleştirilmeye çalışılmıştır. (shrink)

Integrating medical imaging with computing technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its subsets: Machine learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) has advanced into an essential facet of present-day medicine, signaling a pivotal role in diagnostic decision-making and treatment plans (Huang et al., 2023). The significance of medical imaging is escalated by its sustained growth within the realm of modern healthcare (Varoquaux and Cheplygina, 2022). Nevertheless, the ever-increasing volume of medical images compared to the availability of imaging experts. Biomedical experts (...) and radiologists have resulted in a widening disparity, causing an excess and overwhelming workload on these healthcare professionals (Chen et al., 2021). Several studies indicate that the present-day biomedical radiologist is now saddled with the daunting task of interpreting an image almost every 10 seconds to keep pace with the burgeoning clinical demands (McDonald et al., 2015; Hosny et al., 2018; Lantsman et al., 2022). This cognitive drain has invariably led to inevitable consequences such as delays in diagnosis and an amplified risk of diagnostic errors – thus, the biomedical imaging aspect is in dire need of methods that would aid accurate diagnostics and analytics for improved decision making. In this review, the importance of AI-related technologies such as ML and/or DL methods are reviewed in relation to the processing of medical or biomedical images along with their potentials, challenges, and possible suggestions for future studies in the health landscape. Esta investigación retoma la obra de Gabriel García Márquez, Noticia de un secuestro (1996), con la volición de cuestionar la idea de Estado nación que está inmersa en el libro. Para ello, es necesario entender que la naturaleza del texto exige un conocimiento amplio al lector o al intérprete, puesto que su contenido revela datos multidisciplinarios. Además, es insoslayable realizar un análisis discursivo de la historia de ese contexto y cotejar con pasajes del mismo libro. Para facilitar esta labor, la (...) extrapolación de conceptos del teórico Luis Rodríguez Manzanera será de utilidad, ya que él despliega definiciones de Criminología, un tema frecuente en la obra. Verbigracia, la macrocriminalidad, una noción que él postula, permite que se comprenda la complexión del periodo histórico finisecular del siglo XX en Colombia, etapa que le corresponde a Noticia de un secuestro. Por otro lado, es menester dilucidar que este estudio no se reduce a lo literario, lo histórico y lo criminológico, sino que abarca distintas disciplinas, por lo que la exigencia en la consolidación epistemológica e interpretativa estará demostrada consuetudinariamente, sin obviar la inmanencia de la obra. Este tipo de análisis interdisciplinarios ya ha sido trabajado desde los Estudios Culturales, tal como se constata en las investigaciones de Richard Johnson (2000) o Néstor García Canclini (1997). De igual modo, el intento de establecer lineamientos y conexiones entre disciplinas como las de Literatura y Derecho ya ha sido desarrollado por Stanley Fish (1986), Faustino Martínez (2005), Carlos Pérez (2006) y Denise Schalet (2014). A diferencia de estos abordajes ya estudiados, el objetivo de esta investigación es detectar y fundamentar cómo se articula una propuesta ideológica desde una configuración que reanuda elementos históricos y literarios. En específico, lo que se busca es argumentar por qué fracasó implícitamente un proyecto sociopolítico de democracia y progreso, a partir de un panorama de violencia, narcoterrorismo, corrupción, negociaciones ilícitas, transgresión a los derechos humanos e inseguridad ciudadana. Con todo ello, esta tesis de maestría terminará siendo fructuosa para análisis postremos de discursos que tienen como esencia un soporte multidisciplinario. (shrink)

Para este estudio, he considerado el postulado teórico que fundamenta Stefano Arduini en torno a los campos figurativos, los cuales cumplen la función de apropiarse de las figuras retóricas existentes en un discurso poético, siempre y cuando estén orientados hacia una forma de pensar distinguida por la metáfora, la sinécdoque, la metonimia, la elipsis, la antítesis y la repetición. Una vez configurada esta propuesta, realizaré un análisis afín en “Al fatigado” y “La voz en la playa” del poemario Consejero del (...) lobo (1965) del escritor peruano Rodolfo Hinostroza, con el objetivo de percibir su cosmovisión y los elementos que conforman su arte creativo. Este artículo indaga sobre la percepción de las publicaciones en la actualidad, puesto que prevalecen obstáculos que impiden una asimilación convincente y generalizada de los textos a los que se les quiere designar forzosamente literarios. Al respecto, Vargas Llosa muestra un panorama editorial impertinente por la globalización y la difusión de lo audiovisual y lo virtual, junto con otras ebulliciones mediáticas, como la defectuosa comprensión lectora, la pésima interpretación textual, los canales poco fidedignos de propagación o las limitaciones económicas para (...) adquirirlos. Para ello, se corroborará con los planteamientos de Miguel Ángel Huamán, que buscan una solución a esta problemática. (shrink)

Este artículo cuestiona la composición endógena de los personajes protagónicos de los largometrajes Días de Santiago (2004) y Hombre Araña (2002). Ellos presentarán dos estereotipos distintos de vivencias y coincidirán con el cuestionamiento consuetudinario de sus propias identidades. Esa percepción permitirá precisar en el objetivo de este trabajo, que consiste en fundamentar las transgresiones psicológicas de los involucrados, pese a su configuración definida y reconocible para el espectador. Para lograrlo, se recurrirá al análisis sociológico que propone Iuri Lotman desde la (...) semiótica cultural, que será complementado con la confrontación con los filmes Un perro andaluz (1929), Tiempos modernos (1936), Ahí está el detalle (1940), Gregorio (1984) y La espalda del mundo (2000). Luego, se empleará la semiótica tensiva de Jacques Fontanille para elaborar esquemas afines al desenvolvimiento del superhéroe, así como también se diferenciarán los regímenes de sentido que se asemejan a la lógica de la trama. En esta entrevista se resolvieron las interrogantes formuladas y orientadas a la preservación de la lengua castellana en Hispanoamérica. En principio, se abordaron tres temas fundamentales derivados de esta propuesta: la escritura, la investigación y la publicidad. Con el primer tópico, se discernió la función de las normativas, los diccionarios y los manuales elaborados por la Real Academia Española. Su intervención es enjundiosa, ya que direcciona al lector y académico al perfeccionamiento de su lenguaje, con la finalidad de que no (...) reincida en errores gramaticales. El segundo rubro abarca la investigación. Esta fue destacada porque facilita la interacción de los hablantes de la lengua castellana con las metodologías que se instauran para configurar un lenguaje totémico. Además, se asume que la única manera de difundir y contribuir a ese conocimiento sería por medio de las publicaciones científicas. La tercera variante consiste en cómo se inserta esta inquietud en torno a la lengua castellana en los ámbitos publicitarios. Esto es neurálgico por su audiencia limitada y el desinterés de respaldo por los Gobiernos. Frente a ello, consideré que el Dr. Ignacio Bosque Muñoz era la persona idónea para confrontar esta realidad sobre el castellano. Su rol importante en la RAE y la Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española (ASALE) lo amerita, así como sus publicaciones orientadas al estudio del idioma con enfoques gramaticales. Con su interacción, la volición de este trabajo se evidenciará con la explicación del panorama vigente de la lengua y su preservación, como cuando uno desea comprender el Quijote, entender las contribuciones gramaticales y lexicales de la RAE y la ASALE o cuestionar la proliferación del idioma desde los medios de comunicación. Este trabajo retoma las categorías que trabaja Kant en función de la emisión de juicios con respecto al gusto y la estética. Para ello, es necesario que se considere el método que se configura a partir de la sistematización de las cosas y los fenómenos que intervienen para obtener su constitución. Asimismo, todo ello está orientado a precisar el concepto de estética, para que después se comprendan los tipos de juicios que se derivan de las facultades cognitivas, como los juicios (...) analíticos y sintéticos, los juicios a priori y a posteriori, los juicios determinantes y reflexionantes, los juicios estéticos en el Arte y los juicios teleológicos.
