Tripura Upanishad is a minor Shakta or Tantra Upanishad explaining the structure of and meditation on Sri Chakra or Sri Yantra—a diagrammatic representation of the universe through nine interlocking triangles coming out of a central point. To date, there are two English translations of this Upanishad. The first and the earliest, by A G Krishna Warrier done in 1967, is a verse translation and because of the obvious constraints of such translation, fails to explain the intricacies and implied meanings of (...) this cryptic Upanishad. The second translation done many years later, is by Douglas Renfrew Brooks, who has also beautifully translated the commentary on this Upanishad by Bhaskararaya in the book 'The Secret of the Three Cities' published by the University of Chicago Press in 1990. While maintaining a high level of accuracy and bringing out the intricate nuances of this Upanishad, the emphasis of Brooks' translation seems to be more on the geometrical aspects of the Sri Chakra. The present translation emphasises the practice aspect of this Upanishad as derived from Bhaskararaya's commentary. (shrink)

General assumptions about passage of time are listed. Indian, Chinese and later insights of path of passage of time are figured. Physical and psychological times are differentiated and explained using Energy-Presence (Being) and Energy-Transformation (Becoming) concepts. The purpose of the present project is to study the Upaniṣads and Mullā Sadrā as expounders of mystical philosophy dealing with the question of the nature of Ultimate Reality and its concomitant issues. To be more specific, this study is an examination focused on the metaphysical theories propounded by them. The mystical and philosophical systems constructed by Upaniṣads and Mullā Sadrā are often viewed as being representative of absolutism found within their respective traditions. The striking differences generally perceived between aspects (...) of Hinduism and Islām have, however, somewhat prevented scholars to develop interest in the comparison of philosophies rooted in these two philosophical traditions. Indian spiritual and philosophical systems are essentially cognitive scientific in nature. Having origin in the Upanishads all Indian philosophical systems supplemented and complemented one another to develop a comprehensive source book of cognitive science. The nature and form of consciousness, mind and its functions are extensively dealt with and discussed from Upanishads through Buddhism, Jainism, Viseshaka, Nyaya, Yoga, Samkhya, Poorva Meemamsa,and Uttara Meemaams, Sabdabrahma Siddhanta contributing to many concepts which have relevance to cognitive science and language acquisition and (...) communication. In this paper all these will be reviewed and especially the concept of guṇa as envisaged in various Indian philosophical systems will be presented and correlated. The evolution of concept of guṇa through Shaddrarsanas will be specifically looked at. This letter is in response to Pope Francis's exhortation to Catholics globally to align themselves to Vatican II's underatanding of humanity as one --- not as merely a division between the baptised and the non-baptised. This letter speaks of historical wrongs which need to be forgiven. And then goes on to rethink Karl Rahner's idea of the 'anonymous Christian' to that of a crypto-Catholic/crypto Hindu in the send that Acharya Gaudapada is thought to be a crypto-Buddhist to date. This in (...) spite of the fact that by no imagination possible is the Acharya a Buddhist of any denomination. Nor is his commentary on the Mandukya Upanishad Buddhist in any manner. Certainly the Upanishad in question is not a Buddhist work. Therefore this letter is important since it raises questions about accepted categories of set thought within Western Christian studies and even within Western Hindu polemics. There are as usual, typos in the letter which has now become habitual with this publication. They were originally not there in the typed WORD file. Even conventions like italicisations of the names of texts are being not followed by whoever reads the proofs. (shrink)

En esta comunicación pongo de manifiesto la necesidad de congeniar dos puntos que suelen presentarse enconados: la naturaleza y la tecnología. Esta necesidad (...) no viene impuesta por un deseo romántico de contemporizar a los partidarios de ambos extremos, sino de poner de manifiesto que este enfrentamiento y ruptura es uno de los peligros que pueden impedir la prolongación de la vida de la especie humana. L’idéal républicain de la liberté comme non-domination promu par P. Pettit possède un potentiel intéressant pour penser l’évolution de l’internationalisme. Cet article examine l’enjeu éthique et politique de l’application institutionnelle de la liberté comme non-domination à l’échelle supranationale. Il discute en particulier la thèse de J. Bohman, qui a récemment proposé une interprétation délibérative et cosmopolitique de la conception de la liberté républicaine. Mais le passage de la citoyenneté démocratique nationale à la citoyenneté cosmopolitique, tel que défendu par Bohman, nous (...) semble reposer sur des conceptions trop exigeantes et compréhensives de l’impartialité et de la démocratie. En nous appuyant sur les travaux socio-historiques de S. Sassen et de C. Tilly, nous soutenons que des idéaux normatifs moins exigeants de l’impartialité et de la démocratie gagneraient en réalisme sociologique et en correspondance avec les mécanismes actuellement impliqués dans l’évolution de la coopération internationale et dans la démocratisation des sociétés. هدف این پژوهش بررسی معرفت‌شناختی خروجی‏های هوش مصنوعی در برابر پرسش‏های علمی است. با توجه به اینکه در هوش مصنوعی، از اطلاعات و داده‏های متخصصان و دانشمندان برای یادگیری استفاده می‏شود؛ ممکن است این تصور پدید آید که می‏توان خروجی‏های به‌دست‌آمده در برابر پرسش‏های علمی را نوعی گواهی گروهی در نظر گرفت. این پژوهش با استفاده از روش تحلیلی-انتقادی دیدگاه‏های موجود را مورد ارزیابی قرار می‏دهد که در این راستا از رویکرد تجربه‏گراییِ انتقادیِ زمینه‏ایِ هلن لانجینو استفاده ‏شده است. نتایج (...) پژوهش حاضر نشان می‏دهد رویکردهای سنتی و ابزاری امکان بررسی خروجی هوش مصنوعی تحت عنوان گواهی را ندارند. رویکرد شبه-گواهی بر معرفت‏شناسی اجتماعی جریان اصلی متکی است که بررسی‏ها نشان می‏دهد استدلال‏ها و انتقادات این رویکرد بر پایه شناخت روند تولید دانش علمی استوار نیست. دیگر نتایج پژوهش نشان می‏دهند که کماکان خروجی هوش مصنوعی در برابر پرسش‏های علمی را نمی‏توان گواهی گروهی متخصصان دانست و اصطلاح «باور مبتنی بر تکنولوژی» بهتر آن را تبیین می‏کند.
