The concept of sustainable development considers environmental, social and economic issues in general. And the goals of resource conservation and socio-economic development do not contradict each other, but contribute to mutual reinforcement. The purpose of this study is to build and test an economic and mathematical model for the formation of strategies for the behavior of an economic entity with an increase in the impact of negative environmental factors. The proposed strategies and their models are based on the income-expenditure balance (...) equation, which takes into account both quantitative and qualitative characteristics. The constructed models are considered in the state space. The research methodology is based on building models in the form of linear combinations of functions of a homogeneous external impact and various spatial combinations of economic sources (sinks). The study makes it possible to assess the dependence of the amount of resources used for life support on the chosen adaptive strategy. Within the framework of the proposed model, it was found that the criterion for the effectiveness of the applied strategy can be an indicator of satisfaction with the state, the preservation of which, simultaneously with the preservation of the size of resources used, corresponds to the direction of optimization. Patient centred diagnosis is best practised through shared decision making; an iterative dialogue between doctor and patient, whichrespects a patient’s needs, values, preferences, and circumstances. -/- Shared decision making for diagnostic situations differs fundamentally from that for treatment decisions. This has important implications when considering its practical application. -/- The nature of dialogue should be tailored to the specific diagnostic decision; scenarios with higher stakes or uncertainty usually require more detailed conversations.

In this paper we focus on what is referred to as the ‘mineness’ of experience, that is, the intimate familiarity we have with our own thoughts, perceptions, and emotions. Most accounts characterize mineness in terms of an experiential dimension, the first-person givenness of experience, that is subsumed under the notion of minimal self-consciousness or a ‘minimal self’. We argue that this account faces problems and develop an alternative account of mineness in terms of the coherence of experiences with what we (...) label an ‘embodied biography’. Building on a near consensus among consciousness researchers over the function of consciousness as integrating infor- mation, we argue that the phenomenology of mineness consists in the absence of any further thought on top of the experience itself. Finally we argue that this non-phenomenological account of mineness fits well with existing data on pathologies of mineness such as delusions of thought insertion. (shrink)

The aim of this paper is to provide a conceptual framework that will help in understanding and evaluating, along social and ethical lines, the issue of killing day-old male chicks and two alternative directions of responsible innovations to solve this issue. The following research questions are addressed: Why is the killing of day-old chicks morally problematic? Are the proposed alternatives morally sound? To what extent do the alternatives lead to responsible innovation? The conceptual framework demonstrates clearly that there is a (...) moral “lock-in”, and why the killing of day-old chicks is indeed an issue. Furthermore, it is shown that both alternative directions address some important objections with regard to the killing of day-old chicks, but that they also raise new dilemmas. It also becomes clear that the framework enables and secures anticipation, reflection, deliberation with and responsiveness to stakeholders, the four dimensions of responsible innovation, in a structured way. We develop a conceptually clear, intuitive, and feasible decision procedure for testing satisfiability in the full multi\-agent epistemic logic \CMAELCD\ with operators for common and distributed knowledge for all coalitions of agents mentioned in the language. To that end, we introduce Hintikka structures for \CMAELCD\ and prove that satisfiability in such structures is equivalent to satisfiability in standard models. Using that result, we design an incremental tableau-building procedure that eventually constructs a satisfying Hintikka structure for every satisfiable input set of (...) formulae of \CMAELCD\ and closes for every unsatisfiable input set of formulae. The split, the alienation of philosophy from the sciences occurred long before all sorts of perestroikas and KGB revolutions "from above", all these great leaps, great pushes and painful kicks. This is a consequence of internal processes occurring at the level of everyday scientific consciousness, the living practice of scientific research. The isolation of development is a fact, not an invention of the Mossad or the CIA. It was precisely from this fact that we proceeded when we conceived this conference. (...) Philosophers and representatives of specific sciences should meet in order to speak on equal terms, as equals with equals, in order to possibly learn something from each other. Concrete scientists could not only enrich philosophers with new material, but also pose a number of problems for them. The novelty is that the philosophical approach is recognized as existing not above others, but alongside them, as a kind of reflection on the foundations of these approaches, analysis, digging into the theoretical and conceptual side of the matter. Qualitative fieldwork research on sensitive topics sometimes requires that interviewees be granted confidentiality and anonymity. When qualitative researchers later publish their findings, they must ensure that any statements obtained during fieldwork interviews cannot be traced back to the interviewees. Given these protections to interviewees, the integrity of the published findings cannot usually be verified or replicated by third parties, and the scholarly community must trust the word of qualitative researchers when they publish their results. This trust is fundamentally abused, however, (...) when researchers publish articles reporting qualitative fieldwork data that they never collected. Using only publicly available information, I argue that a 2017 article in an Elsevier foreign policy and international relations journal presents anonymised fieldwork interviews that could not have occurred as described. As an exercise in post-publication peer review (PPPR), this paper examines the evidence that calls into question the reliability of the putative fieldwork quotations. I show further that the 2017 article is not a unique case. The anonymity and confidentiality protections common in some areas of research create an ethical problem: the protections necessary for obtaining research data can be used as a cover to hide substandard research practices as well as research misconduct. Every year, approximately 800,000 people lose their lives to suicide, underscoring the urgent need to identify individuals at risk. With the widespread use of social media, many individuals openly share their thoughts, including expressions of suicidal ideation, providing an opportunity for timely intervention. This study introduces an advanced system for detecting suicidal content on social media platforms using a combination of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Deep Learning, and Machine Learning techniques. The system leverages keyword-based detection, sentiment analysis, and contextual NLP (...) methods to identify posts indicative of suicidal ideation. A hybrid approach is adopted, integrating Logistic regression,Random Forest, Support Vector Machine, Naive Bayes and Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) to enhance text classification performance and improve detection accuracy. The model is trained on a carefully curated dataset of labeled posts and evaluated using metrics such as precision, recall, and F1-score, demonstrating significant improvements in the accurate detection of concerning content. This automated system is designed for deployment by social media platforms to flag potentially harmful posts, allowing mental health professionals to review and provide timely support. By enhancing early identification and intervention efforts, this system offers a valuable tool for reducing suicide risks and potentially saving lives. In cases where suicidal content is identified, the system prompts the user with a supportive questionnaire, text box, or chatbot interface to offer immediate assistance or guidance. This project contributes to mental health awareness by providing an automated, accurate, and accessible tool for early detection of suicidal ideation, facilitating timely intervention and support. In this paper we propose an informal exposition of the structure approach in the philosophy of science. Scientific knowledge is here considered as a collection of scientific theories. Each scientific theory has logico-linguistic, model-representing, pragmatic-procedural, and problem-heuristical subsystems and a subsystem of ties. The pivotal methodological concept for the exact description of these subsystems is the named set. We also outline the possibility of applying the structure-nominative approach to certain problems in the philosophy of science.

Purpose of the present work is to attempt to give a glance at the problem of existential and anthropological risk caused by the contemporary man-made civilization from the perspective of comparison and confrontation of aesthetics, the substrate of which is emotional and metaphorical interpretation of individual subjective values and politics feeding by objectively rational interests of social groups. In both cases there is some semantic gap present between the represented social reality and its representation in perception of works of art (...) and in the political doctrines as well. Methodology of the research is evolutionary anthropologicalcomparativistics. Originality of the conducted analysis comes to the following: As the antithesis to biological and social reductionism in interpretation of the phenomenon of bio-power it is proposed a co-evolutionary semantic model in accordance with which the described semantic gap is of the substantial nature related to the complex module organization of a consistent and adaptive human strategy consisting of three associated but independently functional modules. Evolutionary trajectory of all anthropogenesis components including civilization cultural and social-political evolution is identified by the proportion between two macro variables – evolutionary effectiveness and evolutionary stability, i.e. preservation in the context of consequential transformations of some invariants of Homo sapiens species specificity organization. It should be noted that inasmuch as in respect to human, some modules of the evolutionary strategy assume self-reflection attributes, it would be more correctly to state about evolutionary correctness, i.e. correspondence to some perfection. As a result, the future of human nature depends not only on the rationalist principles of ethics of Homo species, but also on the holistic and emotionally aesthetic image of «Self». In conclusion it should be noted that there is a causal link between the development of High Hume technologies and the totality of the trend in the anthropological phenomenon of bio-power that permeates all the available human existence in modern civilization. In 2035 global egg demand will have risen 50% from 1985. Because we are not able to tell in the egg whether it will become a male or female chick, billons of one day-old male chicks will be killed. International research initiatives are underway in this area, and governments encourage the development of an alternative with the goal of eliminating the culling of day-old male chicks. The Netherlands holds an exceptional position in the European egg trade, but is also the (...) only country in the European Union where the downside of the egg sector, the practice of killing day-old male chicks, is a recurrent subject of societal debate. ‘Preventing the killing of young animals’ and ‘in ovo sex determination’ are the two alternative approaches available to solve this problem. It is clear that both approaches solve the problem of killing day-old male chicks, either by keeping them alive or by preventing them from living, but they also raise a lot of new animal welfare-related dilemmas. A thorough analysis was undertaken of these dilemmas and the results are presented in this article. The analysis resulted in an ethical framework based on the two main approaches in bioethics: a consequentialist approach and a deontological approach. This ethical framework was used to develop an online survey administered to ascertain Dutch public opinion about these alternative approaches. The results show that neither alternative will be fully accepted, or accepted by more than half of Dutch society. However, the survey does provide an insight into the motives that are important for people’s choice: food safety and a good treatment of animals. Irrespective of the approach chosen, these values should be safeguarded and communicated clearly. (shrink)

Assim, o que se busca é entender como todo processo de Inseminação Artificial deve ser conduzido, na expectativa de que o mesmo seja concluído com sucesso com o mínimo de erros e perdas possíveis. Tudo isto, na expectativa de fazer com que a Inseminação Artificial seja melhor acompanhada e difundida nos meios veterinários, indicando em algumas situações que pode ser uma forma de reprodução mais adequada, à depender da necessidade do criador. In this way, the intention is to draw a timeline detailing procedures and the appropriate and most indicated ways of each one. Thus, what is sought is to understand how the entire Artificial Insemination process should be conducted, in the expectation that it will be successfully completed with the least possible errors and losses. All this, in the hope of making Artificial Insemination better monitored and disseminated in veterinary circles, indicating in some situations that it may be a more adequate form of reproduction, depending on the breeder's needs. The global water crisis is being exacerbated by climate change, even in the United States. Recycled water is a feasible alternative to alleviate the water shortage, but it is constrained by humans’ perceptions. The current study examines how residents’ water scarcity awareness and climate change belief influence their willingness to use recycled water directly and indirectly. Bayesian Mindsponge Framework (BMF) analytics was employed on a dataset of 1831 residents in Albuquerque, New Mexico, an arid inland region in the US. We (...) discovered that residents’ willingness to use direct recycled potable water is positively affected by their awareness of water scarcity, but only if they believe in the impacts of climate change on the water cycle. Meanwhile, the willingness to use indirect recycled potable water is influenced by water scarcity awareness, and the belief in climate change further enhances this effect. These findings implicate that fighting climate change denialism and informing the public of the water scarcity situation in the region can contribute to the effectiveness and sustainability of long-term water conservation and climate change alleviation efforts. The main objective of this work is to measure water quality using machine learning algorithms. A Water Quality Index (WQI) is a numeric expression used to evaluate the quality of a given water body. In this paper the following water quality parameters were used to evaluate the overall water quality in terms of the WQI. These parameters were as temp, dissolved oxygen (DO) (% sat), pH, conductivity, Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), nitrates (NO3), faecal and total coli forms (TC). These parameters (...) are used as feature vector to represent the water quality. In paper five kinds of classification algorithms, namely Navie Bayes(NB), Decision Tree(DT), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Support Vector Machine(SVM), and Random Forest(RF) were employed to predict the water quality class. Experiments were conducted using the real dataset containing the details from various places in Tamil Nadu as well as the synthetic dataset generated on the basis of parameters randomly. Based on the performance of five kinds of classifier, it was found out that the Random Forest classifier achieves some improved result compared to other classifiers. From the analysis it shows that machine learning techniques have the good ability to predict the water quality index . (shrink)

This study presents a comprehensive content analysis of punctuation and capitalization errors in Facebook posts made by Junior High School students aged 13 to 17 at Immaculate Conception College of Balayan, Inc. Data was collected from various types of posts, including personal updates, shared articles, and public comments. Employing quantitative methods, particularly Pearson Chi-Square tests, the analysis assessed the frequency of these errors and examined potential correlations between error types and student demographics. The findings revealed that punctuation errors, particularly involving (...) commas and periods, were the most prevalent, followed by capitalization mistakes related to proper nouns and the beginning of sentences. Notably, no significant correlations were found between the frequency of errors and demographic factors such as age, sex, grade level, or duration of Facebook usage. Based on these results, the study recommends that educators implement targeted grammar lessons and increase writing exercises to address these common errors. Furthermore, it suggests that future research explore additional variables influencing grammar usage, the impact of social media on writing practices, and the broader implications of these findings. This research highlights the linguistic challenges faced by junior high school students in a social media context and provides practical recommendations for enhancing students’ writing skills. Employee rights and privileges which are not just told to them but also printed within their contract have always been important, this study aimed to explore the challenges that happen in the contract renewal process at the institution Immaculate Conception College of Balayan, Inc., this study focused on any violations of the employees’ rights, the fulfillment of duties, and the impacts of trust, communication, and expectations. This research is a Case Study under the Qualitative method. The participants of the study, (...) who were chosen by the researchers through the purposive sampling method, are composed of ten (10) current employees of Immaculate Conception College of Balayan, Inc., and two (2) of its admins. With the use of thematic analysis, the collected data was systematically analyzed. The findings indicated that the employees of Immaculate Conception College of Balayan, Inc., had no perceived violations to their rights. The employees also felt that they and the Administration had also built a strong bond of trust between themselves, making them more driven when working. This study also underscored the importance of effective communication during the contract renewal process as good and continuous communication reduced the risk of miscommunication and promoted accountability throughout the contract renewal process. The purpose of the article is to study the development of global demographic processes and to define the causes of their occurrence, manifestations, implications and prospects for implementation in the first half of the 21st century. The authors (...) have identified and characterized four global demographic processes, namely population growth, migration, increase of tourism, and change in population structure. It is projected that in the 30’s of the 21st century, the number and growth rates of the world population will reach the objective growth and these dynamics over the next two decades will begin to change in the direction of reducing the growth rates, which will lead to gradual stabilization, and eventually reduce the size of the world population. By the middle of the 21st century, one can observe the preservation of the growth rates of international and domestic migration, the growth of international migration flows from the South to the North and from the East to the West, the strengthening of new economically developed centers of gravity (Canada, Australia and New Zealand), the increase in migration of rural population to cities, as well as urbanization and activation of the metropolises development. The share of international tourists in comparison with the world population will be constantly increasing, and the annual growth rate of the number of international tourists will significantly depend on the world economy and may vary at the several percent level. This paper presents a preliminary analysis of the first participatory budgeting experiment in the United States, in Chicago's 49th Ward. There are two avenues of inquiry: First, does participatory budgeting result in different budgetary priorities than standard practices? Second, do projects meet normative social justice outcomes? It is clear that allowing citizens to determine municipal budget projects results in very different outcomes than standard procedures. Importantly, citizens in the 49th Ward consistently choose projects that the research literature classifies as low (...) priority. The results are mixed, however, when it comes to social justice outcomes. While there is no clear pattern in which projects are located only in affluent sections of the ward, there is evidence of geographic clustering. Select areas are awarded projects like community gardens, dog parks, and playgrounds, while others are limited to street resurfacing, sidewalk repairs, bike racks, and bike lanes. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito da terminação de cordeiros confinados usando resíduo úmido de cervejaria como fonte de volumoso ofertado em diferentes frequências de alimentação sobre as características da carcaça e não componentes da carcaça. Foram utilizados 30 cordeiros machos não castrados, oriundos de um cruzamento alternado entre as raças Texel e Ile de France. Os animais apresentaram ao início do confinamento idade média de 72,7±6 dias e peso médio de 25,44±4,1 kg. Os tratamentos eram constituídos (...) de três diferentes frequências de alimentação, sendo: uma vez ao dia (08:00 horas), duas vezes ao dia (08:00 e 18:00 horas) e três vezes ao dia (08:00, 13:00 e 18:00 horas). A relação volumoso:concentrado usada foi de 46,9:53,1 com base na matéria seca. Os cordeiros foram abatidos quando atingiram o peso vivo de fazenda, de 38 kg. Houve diferença estatística (P<0,05) para as variáveis peso e rendimento de costelas, peso e proporção de Rins e peso de Rum+Ret. As demais variáveis não diferiram (P>0,05) entre os tratamentos. Em função dos resultados podemos recomendar uma única oferta diária como manejo alimentar para cordeiros terminados em confinamento recebendo resíduo úmido de cervejaria como fonte de volumoso. At the beginning of confinement, the animals had an average age of 72.7±6 days and an average weight of 25.44±4.1 kg. The treatments consisted of three different feeding frequencies: once a day (08:00), twice a day (08:00 and 18:00) and three times a day (08:00, 13:00). 00 and 18:00 hours). The roughage:concentrate ratio used was 46.9:53.1 based on dry matter. Lambs were slaughtered when they reached farm live weight of 38 kg. There was a statistical difference (P<0.05) for the variables weight and yield of ribs, weight and proportion of Kidneys and weight of Rum+Ret. The other variables did not differ (P>0.05) between treatments. Based on the results, we can recommend a single daily supply as a dietary management for lambs finished in confinement receiving wet brewery residue as a source of roughage. RESUMEN El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo evaluar el efecto del acabado de corderos confinados utilizando residuos húmedos de cervecería como fuente de forraje ofrecido en diferentes frecuencias de alimentación sobre las características de los componentes de la carcasa y no carcasa. Se utilizaron 30 corderos machos sin castrar, procedentes de un cruce alterno entre las razas Texel e Ile de France. Al inicio del confinamiento, los animales tenían una edad promedio de 72,7±6 días y un peso promedio de 25,44±4,1 kg. Los tratamientos consistieron en tres frecuencias de alimentación diferentes: una vez al día (08:00), dos veces al día (08:00 y 18:00) y tres veces al día (08:00, 13:00 y 18:00). horas). La relación forraje:concentrado utilizada fue 46,9:53,1 basada en materia seca. Los corderos fueron sacrificados cuando alcanzaron un peso vivo en granja de 38 kg. Hubo diferencia estadística (P<0,05) para las variables peso y rendimiento de costillas, peso y proporción de Riñones y peso de Ron+Ret. Las demás variables no difirieron (P>0.05) entre tratamientos. Con base en los resultados, podemos recomendar un suministro único diario como manejo dietético para corderos terminados en confinamiento que reciben residuos húmedos de cervecería como fuente de forraje. This project explores the development of an AI-powered virtual health assistant that leverages machine learning to enhance patient engagement, provide personalized health recommendations, and assist in preliminary diagnostics. The system utilizes Natural Language Processing (NLP) for understanding patient queries and predictive analytics for offering real-time responses based on medical data. By incorporating machine learning algorithms, the assistant continuously learns from user interactions to improve accuracy and efficiency. This approach aims to reduce the workload on healthcare professionals, improve accessibility to medical information, and enhance patient experience. The study evaluates the impact of AI-driven virtual health assistance on patient satisfaction, response accuracy, and healthcare delivery efficiency. In order to solve the increasing amount of Object detection is a core part in computer vision, with applications spreading throughout the process of constructing a smart city, city managers always invest much energy and capital in cleaning street trash because of the random emergence of street trash, As deep network solutions become increasingly deep and convoluted, they tend to be constrained by the quantity of training data. Keeping this in view, to drive developments in analysing and interpreting images, Open (...) CV or Google AI has made the Open Images dataset public. Open Images is an extension of the tradition initiated by PASCAL VOC, Image Net and COCO, but now in an unprecedented scale. In this project we to execute the Hence, visual street cleanliness evaluation is especially significant. Yet, current assessment methods have some evident shortcomings, i.e., collecting street garbage data is not automated and street cleanliness data is not real-time best performing algorithm for automatically detecting objects. Lastly, the results are integrated into the street cleanliness calculation model to finally visualize street cleanliness levels, which brings convenience to city managers in organizing clean-up staff effectively. Social norms – rules governing which behaviours are deemed appropriate or inappropriate within a given community – are typically taken to be uniquely human. Recently, this position has been challenged by a number of philosophers, cognitive scientists, and ethologists, who have suggested that social norms may also be found in certain non-human animal communities. Such claims have elicited considerable scepticism from norm cognition researchers, who doubt that any non-human animals possess the psychological capacities necessary for normative cognition. However, there is (...) little agreement among these researchers about what these psychological prerequisites are. This makes empirical study of animal social norms difficult, since it is not clear what we are looking for and thus what should count as behavioural evidence for the presence (or absence) of social norms in animals. To break this impasse, we offer an approach that moves beyond contested psychological criteria for social norms. This approach is inspired by the animal culture research program, which has made a similar shift away from heavily psychological definitions of ‘culture’ and to become organized around a cluster of more empirically tractable concepts of culture. Here, we propose an analogous set of constructs built around the core notion of a normative regularity, which we define as a socially maintained pattern of behavioural conformity within a community. We suggest methods for studying potential normative regularities in wild and captive primates. We also discuss the broader scientific and philosophical implications of this research program with respect to questions of human uniqueness, animal welfare and conservation. (shrink)

Purpose This paper aims to formalize long-term trajectories of human civilization as a scientific and ethical field of study. The long-term trajectory of human civilization can be defined as the path that human civilization takes during the entire future time period in which human civilization could continue to exist. -/- Design/methodology/approach This paper focuses on four types of trajectories: status quo trajectories, in which human civilization persists in a state broadly similar to its current state into the distant future; catastrophe (...) trajectories, in which one or more events cause significant harm to human civilization; technological transformation trajectories, in which radical technological breakthroughs put human civilization on a fundamentally different course; and astronomical trajectories, in which human civilization expands beyond its home planet and into the accessible portions of the cosmos. -/- Findings Status quo trajectories appear unlikely to persist into the distant future, especially in light of long-term astronomical processes. Several catastrophe, technological transformation and astronomical trajectories appear possible. -/- Originality/value Some current actions may be able to affect the long-term trajectory. Whether these actions should be pursued depends on a mix of empirical and ethical factors. For some ethical frameworks, these actions may be especially important to pursue. (shrink)

As schools publicly modernize in response to societal changes, additional teaching and learning methods are developed, observed, and used since learners have different learning styles that make it easier for them to grasp and retain the material. During the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers require different media to keep the classroom involved while presenting the lesson materials online, one of which is video tutorials. The purpose of this study was to analyze the extent of contextual effects of video tutorials used in general (...) chemistry, determine the relationship between video tutorial effectiveness and the respondents' academic performance, and analyze the significant difference between the four indicators of contextual effects of video tutorials and the respondents' profile. A descriptive-correlational quantitative research design was used in this study. The participants in this study were 144 Grade 12 STEM students from a private school in Sultan Kudarat, Philippines, who took their general chemistry course during the pandemic. The respondents were given a survey questionnaire created with Google Forms. The students agreed with all the assertions and rated them as effective in terms of their perceptions of general chemistry, implying that video tutorials are useful in teaching the subject. With p-values of .023, .046, and .010, respectively, the findings revealed a significant relationship between the overall mean of students' perceptions of the subject of General Chemistry, the concept and application of chemical knowledge and understanding, and their influence on students' academic performance. In terms of their perception, ideas, and application of chemical knowledge and comprehension, the results demonstrated that there is no statistically significant difference between the general mean of male and female students' responses. In real-time, Twitter strongly imprints world events, popular culture, and the day-to-day; Twitter records an ever growing compendium of language use and change; and Twitter has been shown to enable certain kinds of prediction. Vitally, and absent from many standard corpora such as books and news archives, Twitter also encodes popularity and spreading through retweets. Here, we describe Storywrangler, an ongoing, day-scale curation of over 100 billion tweets containing around 1 trillion 1-grams from 2008 to 2020. For each day, we (...) break tweets into 1-, 2-, and 3-grams across 150+ languages, record usage frequencies, and generate Zipf distributions. We make the data set available through an interactive time series viewer, and as downloadable time series and daily distributions. The Common Anatomy Reference Ontology (CARO) is being developed to facilitate interoperability between existing anatomy ontologies for different species, and will provide a template for building new anatomy ontologies. CARO has a structural axis of classification based on the top-level nodes of the Foundational Model of Anatomy. CARO will complement the developmental process sub-ontology of the GO Biological Process ontology, using it to ensure the coherent treatment of developmental stages, and to provide a common framework for the model organism communities (...) to classify developmental structures. Definitions for the types and relationships are being generated by a consortium of investigators from diverse backgrounds to ensure applicability to all organisms. CARO will support the coordination of cross-species ontologies at all levels of anatomical granularity by cross-referencing types within the cell type ontology (CL) and the Gene Ontology (GO) Cellular Component ontology. Because corporate social responsibility can be beneficial to both companies and its stakeholders, interest in factors that support CSR performance has grown in recent years. A thorough integration of CSR in core business processes is particularly important for achieving effective long-term CSR practices. Here, we explored the individual CSR-related competencies that support CSR implementation in a corporate context. First, a systematic literature review was performed in which relevant scientific articles were identified and analyzed. Next, 28 CSR directors and managers were (...) interviewed. The literature review complemented with interview data resulted in the following eight distinct CSR-related competencies: Anticipating CSR challenges; Understanding CSR-relevant systems and subsystems; Understanding CSR-relevant standards; CSR management competencies, including Leading CSR programs, Managing CSR programs, and Identifying and realizing CSR-related business opportunities; Realizing CSR-supportive interpersonal processes; Employing CSR-supportive personal characteristics and attitudes; Personal value-driven competencies, including Ethical normative competencies, Balancing personal ethical values and business objectives, and Realizing self-regulated CSR-related behaviors and active involvement; and Reflecting on personal CSR views and experiences. Graduates' employability indicates the excellent education and relevant preparation they obtained from their respective degrees. Tracer studies have enabled higher education institutions to profile their graduates while also reflecting on the quality of education they provide. With the foregoing, a tracer study determined the demographic and academic profile of teacher education graduates from 2017 to 2020 in a state university in the West Philippines. It also ascertained the advanced studies they attended after college, their employment data, the relevance of college (...) preparation with their current employment, difficulties they encountered while securing employment and in their present job, and recommendations to strengthen the teacher education program. The study utilized a descriptive survey research design with 80 non-random samples chosen based on availability. The survey was based on the Philippine Commission on Higher Education with modifications elucidated from previous studies. Results showed that graduates took the teacher education program with a strong passion for the teaching profession. More graduates received honors and awards, passed the licensure examinations for teachers, attended advanced studies for professional development, and are employable. Besides, the graduates’ college preparation is relevant to their current employment. Further, difficulties and problems encountered and recommendations to strengthen the teacher education program were noted. These findings may serve as a baseline for curriculum review and give suggestions for future tracer studies. (shrink)

Is the societal-level of analysis sufficient today to understand the values of those in the global workforce? Or are individual-level analyses more appropriate for assessing the influence of values on ethical behaviors across country workforces? Using multi-level analyses for a 48-society sample, we test the utility of both the societal-level and individual-level dimensions of collectivism and individualism values for predicting ethical behaviors of business professionals. Our values-based behavioral analysis indicates that values at the individual-level make a more significant contribution to (...) explaining variance in ethical behaviors than do values at the societal-level. Atualmente, biotecnologias são empregadas na forma de protocolos a fim de sincronizar o crescimento folicular e a ovulação, bem como permitir que vacas atuem como receptoras de embriões visando melhorar o potencial genético do rebanho. O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar o efeito da utilização de implantes intravaginais de progesterona de 1º, 2º e 3º uso no protocolo de transferência de embriões em tempo fixo (TETF) sobre a taxa de prenhez em receptoras girolandas. O experimento ocorreu em uma fazenda localizada (...) no município de São Sebastião do Maranhão (MG). Foram utilizadas 74 vacas submetidas aos seguintes protocolos: No dia 0 (D0) administrou-se 2 ml de 17β-Estradiol e progesterona e foi colocado o implante intravaginal de progesterona. Estes implantes foram colocados de forma aleatória, sendo de 1° uso (grupo 1; n=15), 2° (grupo 2; n=24) ou 3° (grupo 3; n=35).No D8, os implantes foram retirados e administrou-se 2 ml PGF2α; 1,5 ml de eCG e 1 ml de 17β-Estradiol e progesterona. A inovulação dos embriões in vitroo correu no D (16) para todas as vacas que apresentaram um corpo lúteo. As variáveis qualitativas (prenhe ou não prenhe) foram comparadas em tabelas de contingência e analisadas pelo teste de qui-quadrado a 5% de probabilidade. Neste estudo não houve diferença estatística entre os grupos protocolados em relação ao aproveitamento como receptoras: 1º uso (53,3%), 2º (79,2%) e 3º (68,65). Ademais, observou-se uma taxa de prenhez entre os grupos de 37,5% para o 1º uso, 42,1% para o 2º e 33,3% para o 3º (P>0,05). Dentre as vantagens ao reaproveitamento dos implantes multiusos destaca-se a redução dos custos dos protocolos hormonais, já que a progesterona é o hormônio mais oneroso, desta forma, a maximização do uso reduz o valor final do protocolo sem prejuízos a taxa de prenhez. Resumo: O estudo teve por objetivo avaliar a produtividade e indicadores econômicos de cordeiros da raça Santa Inês ou mestiços Dorper x Santa Inês terminados em confinamento com dieta à base de palma forrageira. Foram utilizados 16 cordeiros não castrados, sendo oito da raça Santa Inês e oito mestiços Dorper x Santa Inês (87,5% Dorper + 12,5% Santa Inês). A idade média no início da pesquisa foi de 150 dias ± 7,28 e o peso vivo médio foi de 24,28 kg (...) ± 3,45 no início do experimento. Foi utilizada ração única formulada para ganho de peso médio esperado de 200 g/dia. A palma forrageira utilizada foi Orelha de Elefante Mexicana (Opuntia stricta HAW) IV e o feno de capim-buffel (Cenchrus ciliares). O período experimental foi de 58 dias, sendo precedido de nove dias para adaptação dos animais às instalações e à ração, totalizando 67 dias. Os dados das variáveis estudadas foram submetidos à análise de variância, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado com 8 repetições por tratamento, utilizando-se o teste F para comparação dos quadrados médios dos fatores testados. Os cordeiros consumiram quantidades semelhantes de matéria natural e de matéria seca, porém os cordeiros mestiços da raça Dorper registraram maior consumo de água, ganho de peso total e ganho de peso médio diário. Não houve efeito do grupo genético sobre a conversão alimentar e o escore de condição corporal. A margem de lucro bruto foi maior em 59,65% para os cordeiros mestiços em relação aos da raça Santa Inês. Os cordeiros mestiços apresentaram maior produtividade e melhor resultado econômico. A palma forrageira pode ser incluída em alta proporção na composição de dieta destinada à terminação de cordeiros. Palavras-chave: cactácea; cordeiro confinado; desempenho; margem de lucro bruto. Abstract: This study evaluated the productivity and economic indicators of Santa Inês and Dorper ×Santa Inês crossbred lambs finished in confinement on a forage cactus-based diet. Sixteen uncastrated lambs were used: eight purebred Santa Inês and eight Dorper × Santa Inês crossbreds (87.5% Dorper + 12.5% Santa Inês). At the onset of the experiment, lambs averaged 150 ± 7.28 days old and weighed 24.28 ± 3.45 kg. A single ration was formulated for an expected average weight gain of 200 g/day. The forage cactus used was Mexican Elephant Ear (Opuntia stricta HAW), and the hay was buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris). The experimental period lasted 58 days, following a 9-day adaptation period, totaling 67 days. Data were subjected to analysis of variance in a completely randomized design with eight replicates per treatment, using the F-test to compare mean squares. Lambs consumed similar amounts of fresh and dry matter, but Dorper crossbred lambs had higher water consumption, total weight gain, and average daily weight gain. The genetic group had no effect on feed conversion and body condition score. The gross profit was 59.65% higher for the crossbred lambs compared to the Santa Inês breed. Crossbred lambs showed higher productivity and better economic results. Forage cactus can be included in high proportions in diets for finishing lambs. This study determined the cognitive skills achievement in mathematics of elementary pre-service teachers as a basis for improving problem-solving and critical thinking which was analyzed using Piaget's seven logical operations namely: classification, seriation, logical multiplication, compensation, ratio and proportional thinking, probability thinking, and correlational thinking. This study utilized an adopted Test on Logical Operations (TLO) and descriptive research design to describe the cognitive skills achievement and to determine the affecting factors. Overall, elementary pre-service teachers performed with sufficient understanding in dealing (...) with the TLO. However, in each logical operation, students were found to have insufficient understanding of probability thinking and correlational thinking. These insufficiencies in other logical operations were attributed to their misconceptions on some mathematical terms, misinterpretation of the problems, poor comprehension skills, poor problem-solving skills, and poor performance in mathematics in general. Job motivation remains an area of concern among researchers due to the rising issues of poor or lack of motivation among workers. This refers to one’s personal will or drives to perform a task at work. Meanwhile, job satisfaction refers to an employee’s sense of fulfillment with his or her work experience. Therefore, the current study utilized the descriptive- correlational research design to investigate the impact of job motivation on the job satisfaction of accountants. To gather essential data and achieve (...) the objectives of the study, Multidimensional Work Motivational Scale (MWMS) and Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) were administered to the target respondents. The collected data were then analyzed using a Multiple Regression Analysis; findings revealed that job motivation has a significant impact on the job satisfaction of accountants. Additionally, the results of this study were carefully evaluated and discussed, and recommendations were made to benefit the stakeholders of the study and contribute to the existing body of knowledge. With the rising global prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and the growing need for accessible healthcare solutions, there is a critical demand for systems that can provide both continuous monitoring and early diagnosis. This project presents a Smart Health Monitoring System with Real-Time Vital Tracking and Predictive Diagnostics, a comprehensive and intelligent health management platform that combines Internet of Things (IoT) technology with machine learning- based predictive analytics. The system integrates a heartbeat sensor and DS18B20 temperature sensor connected to an ESP32 (...) microcontroller, which continuously captures vital physiological parameters. This data is transmitted wirelessly to a Flask-powered web server, where it is logged, visualized in real time through an interactive dashboard, and stored for further analysis. Abstract The current study evaluated the effect of feedlot feeding calves and the level of roughage (RL) in the diet on average daily gain (ADG) and feed efficiency (FE) during the winter-spring period (190 days). Thirty-two Hereford heifers, blocked by weight (149 ± 13 kg), were randomly assigned to one of four winter treatments (110 d): oat grazing a rate of 5 kg of dry matter (DM) per 100 kg live weight (LW) and three total mixed rations fed ad libitum (...) in the feedlot, differing in RL (Setaria italica, hay): 0 %, 35 % and 70 % DM. During spring (80 d), all treatments grazed a mixed grass and legume pasture (6 kg DM/100 kg LW), in weekly plots, independent by repetition (n = 2 plots/treatment). The experiment was analyzed as a randomized block design, using orthogonal contrasts to compare the effect of the feeding system, feedlot (SAC) vs grazing (SAP), and the effect of RL (0 RL, 35 RL and 70 RL) in the diets. A lower ADG was achieved in SAC treatments during the 14 days post-feedlot period, independently of the RL of the diet (P > 0,05). However, during the whole winterspring period, animals from SAC showed greater ADG (0,64 vs. 0,43 kg/day, P < 0,001) and a better FE (8,74 vs. 11,27, P = 0,0013) when compared to SAP. Greater final body weight was achieved with 0 RL (282 kg/head, P < 0,01). Winter calves rearing in a feedlot system allows to achieve greater weights at the end of the spring and a better overall feed efficiency. Resumen En el presente trabajo se evaluó el efecto de la alimentación a corral de terneros y del nivel de voluminoso (NV) en la dieta sobre la ganancia media diaria (GMD) y la eficiencia de conversión (EC) del alimento durante el período invierno-primavera (190 días). Treinta y dos terneras Hereford, bloqueadas por peso (149 ± 13 kg), fueron 2 asignadas al azar a cuatro tratamientos de invierno (110 d): pastoreo de avena a razón de 5 kg de materia seca (MS) cada 100 kg de peso vivo (PV) y tres raciones totalmente mezcladas suministradas a corral ad libitum, que diferían en el NV (Setaria itálica, heno): 0 %, 3 5 % y 70 % MS. Durante la primavera (80 d), todos los tratamientos pastorearon una pradera mezcla de gramíneas y leguminosas (6 kg MS/100 kg PV), en parcelas semanales, independientes por repetición (n = 2 parcelas/tratamiento). El experimento fue analizado según un diseño en bloques al azar, utilizando contrastes ortogonales para comparar el efecto del sistema de alimentación, corral (SAC) vs. pastoreo (SAP), y el efecto del NV (0 NV, 35 NV y 70 NV) en las dietas. Independientemente del NV en la dieta, los tratamientos SAC mostraron una menor GMD durante los primeros catorce días poscorral (P > 0,05). Sin embargo, en la totalidad del período invierno-primavera, los animales provenientes de SAC, respecto a SAP, presentaron mejores GMD (0,64 vs. 0,43 kg/día, P < 0,001) y EC (8,74 vs. 11,27, P = 0,0013), siendo el tratamiento 0NV el de mayor peso final (282 kg/cab, P < 0,01). La recría invernal de terneros en confinamiento permite alcanzar mayores pesos a fin de primavera y una mejor eficiencia de conversión global. Trinta e dois bezerros Hereford bloqueados por peso (139 ± 6,7 kg; 161 ± 7,5 kg) foram distribuídos aleatoriamente em quatro tratamentos de inverno (110 dias): pastejo de aveia com 5 kg de matéria seca (MS) cada 100 kg de peso (PV) e três rações totalmente misturadas fornecidas aos animais: confinamento ad libitum, diferindo em NV (Setaria itálica, feno): 0 %, 35 %, 70 % MS. Na primavera (80 dias), todos os tratamentos utilizaram pastagem mista de gramíneas e leguminosas (6 kg MS/100 kg PV), em parcelas semanais, independentes por repetição (n = 2 parcelas/tratamento). O experimento foi analisado segundo delineamento em blocos casualizados, utilizando contrastes ortogonais para comparar o efeito do sistema de alimentação: confinamento (SAC) vs. pastejo (SAP); o efeito do NV (0 NV, 35 NV e 70NV) na dieta. Embora tenha sido encontrado um período crítico de 14 dias após a saída do confinamento, não se encontrou efeito do NV na dieta para esse período (P > 0,05). Durante o período inverno-primavera os animais do SAC, comparados ao SAP, apresentaram melhor GMD (0,64 vs. 0,43 kg/dia, P < 0,001) e EC (8,74 vs. 11,27, P = 0,0013), 0NV alcançou o maior peso final (282 kg, P < 0,01). A recria de bezerros confinados no inverno determina maiores pesos no fim da primavera e melhor eficiência de conversão global. The aim of the study is to develop theoretic and methodological recommendations and practical activities for the positive social, managerial, organizational and economic development of historical and cultural tourist destinations. In theoretical terms: the role of historical and cultural tourist destination in the development of the region has been established; the historical and cultural tourist destinations have been identified; the author’s classification of historical and cultural tourist destinations has been developed basing tourist visiting activeness; the author’s methodological approach to the (...) diagnosis and creating tools for development of historical and cultural tourist destinations, comprehensively taking into account resource and factor components, has been presented. In practical terms: variations of the activities aimed at the positive development of historical and cultural tourist destinations have been proposed; the description of measures aimed at the creation of a historical and cultural complex on the example of the designed historical and cultural complex “Stara Samar” has been given. The results of the study are applicable for a wide range of historical and cultural tourist attractions: territories, landscapes and elements of landscapes, historical settlements, parks, film studios, historical and cultural heritage sites, history and culture monuments, burial sites, places of worship, sites of social cultural infrastructure. The author’s recommendations provide obtaining commercial results and ensuring a social and cultural effect for businessmen, managers, local communities in the management of existing or in the creation of new historical and cultural tourist destinations.
